Hi, ZFC has been in touch with me and asked me to ask why he has been banned from the forum? I believe he's unable to pose the question due to the ban hence why I'm raising it. Ta, Ade Seems like you are being used Ade.

I'm sure Shane wanted a debate kicked off about this and I was well aware of this when he asked me to post this.

Well done mods and admin. It's the right decision.
The forum is a better place without that rubbish

Ade what does he want a debate about. He has been warned numerous times Without wanting to put words in his mouth I think he thought the ban was strange coming after he'd made a couple of rovers related posts. I think he also felt that he wanted the forum made aware he'd been banned as there is nothing on his avatar or profile that shows he has been. But I'm only guessing. You'd be better off asking him direct.

You'd be better off asking him direct. All I can say personally is I didn't do the banning, but agreed with it if Shane continued which he did.
I saw he started the match thread not long after Terry had warned him on the forum. My instant reaction because of Shane's carrying on was there was nothing sincere in it (not something easy to tell on a message board I grant you) and it was merely a vehicle to prevent himself being banned and he would carry on with the other nonsense.
His account was previously suspended for a few hours. I don't know how easy it is to unblock an account.
As I said originally, I (and I am sure the rest of us) would welcome him back if he behaves.
I am not sure he couldn't see it coming, and maybe it was a case of too little too late. I didn't and don't want to ban anyone and I think we as a mod team are generally pretty loose with the rules, but Shane kept pushing.
I will see what Admin want to do with PMing or contact Shane and sorting a way forward

HHmm, double standards are in place eh? Apparently, calling someone a 'nob' or a 'fool' is acceptable is it? I'm not taking sides, Just saying.

Obviously I can't say for certain not being him, but my guess would be that any debate might exclude those from certain social & ethnic backgrounds. Erm ...

You're certainly right that he got a debate. I'm not sure he got a 'debate' as such, just loads of people chiming in to support it. Me too. This site's got a top set of moderators who do a pretty thankless task very well. I trust their judgement (and am relieved the site's no longer tainted by that nonsense). Thanks for all your work, guys and don't waste any angst on this issue.

If someone is breaking the law, then yes, they should be banned. However........ "If they're not breaking the law then they’re not doing anything wrong, are they? We’ve got robust laws about incitement to violence and the rest. And the thing about this free speech stuff is the “free” that’s in the phrase. I am and should be allowed to say “lock up the filthy homos” however stupid, impolite or hateful it would be for me to say this. Just as Abu Hookhand is at liberty to discuss the finer points of stoning them or pushing a wall over on them. What neither of us may say is let’s go stone that filthy homo over there. That’s just what free speech means." It's a concept that seems to have been misunderstood by the moral high and mighty on this forum. Oh well, at least we now know we can call someone a 'fool' on this forum and it's allowed. www.timworstall.com/

Threatening or abusive language is a public order offence so you're not at liberty to say that at all. Maybe read a book instead of the Daily Mail. Hey! ... Has anyone else noticed the current affairs section has closed???!!!

Um...err.......Where has the 'Daily Mail' comment come from? Should I take your patronising comment about reading a book as 'offensive'? Some would take offence, but coming from a fool like you, it's just water off a duck's back to me. See, I'm allowed to say that.....or I could 'take offence' and report your comment expecting the Mods to ban you!
Yes, threatening or abusive language is an offence, however, having an opinion is, as far as I am aware, not an offence.
The Mods have drawn a line in the sand. Let's see how they moderate in the future eh?
This is not a go at the Mods, just an observation that they've made a rod for their own backs by pandering to the whims of the loud shouty types.

Oh well, at least we now know we can call someone a 'fool' on this forum and it's allowed. www.timworstall.com/It's not a concept that is misunderstood; it's a concept that is irrelevant to the matter in hand. The thing is, free speech or legal behaviour in wider society has no bearing on this board. The mods get to apply the forum rules however they like. Citing the law of the land is irrelevant; you may as well cite the laws of Middle Earth or Gallifrey. The mods are here to uphold the running of the board, not the law of the land. It's not illegal to throw mashed potato but if you did it in a restaurant you'd be asked to leave. To be clear, before you assume I am a loud, shouty type who wants to shut people up, or whatever your thing is, personally I think ZFC should be given as much rope as possible. There is no better demonstration of the stupidity and inanity of people like him than for them to be allowed to say whatever they want. So I'm not saying we should ban him (although I have some sympathy for the mods position coz ZFC just came across as an annoying little chihuahua who is pretty harmless in small doses, but the sheer repetition and witlessness of his yapping is bound to grate sooner or later), I'm just pointing out your reasoning for not banning him is just wrong.
