ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 schedule & fixtures..
The new schedule for the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup was announced on 26th August. The tournament was switched to the United Arab Emirates on 20th August because of civil unrest in Bangladesh, who were originally due to host the tournament. The original groups remain the same but the scheduling of fixtures was amended. England have named spinner Linsey Smith and wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath in their squad for October's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Left-armer Smith, 29, was recalled by England after a five-year absence earlier this year, while 23-year-old Heath played the last of her four T20 internationals in March.
The group contains four frontline spinners, but only one specialist pace bowler in Lauren Bell, with other seam options coming from Nat Sciver-Brunt, Freya Kemp and Danielle Gibson.
In a sign of England’s consistency of selection, the squad is almost identical to the one that beat New Zealand 5-0 in July.
Only Lauren Filer misses out and the pace bowler will travel for the training camp in Abu Dhabi.
"We feel that the squad we have selected has a really nice balance for the conditions where we will play," said head coach Jon Lewis.
England have been grouped with Bangladesh, South Africa, West Indies and Scotland for the tournament in Sharjah and Dubai.
Heather Knight’s team begin their campaign against Bangladesh on 5th October in Sharjah.
On the change of venue, which was only announced last week, Lewis said: "We had to understand the conditions where we will play most of our cricket.
"The two stadiums in Sharjah and Dubai are a little bit different, so we have to be equipped for both."

ICC announces record prize money for Women's T20 World Cup..
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced record prize money of more than £6m for next month's Women's T20 World Cup.
The figure of $7,958,080 (£6.04m) is more than double the prize money for the previous tournament in 2023.
The winners will take away $2.34m (£1.8m), a 134% increase on the money received by 2023 champions Australia.
The ICC announced in July 2023 that it was committing to equal prize money for all future men's and women's competitions.
India received $2.45m (£1.8m) for winning the men's T20 World Cup in June.
Scotland face Bangladesh in the opening match on 3rd October. England's opening match is also against Bangladesh two days later.
The tournament was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh but was moved to the United Arab Emirates following civil unrest in the original host country.
The last edition of the tournament was held in South Africa in February 2023, when Australia won their sixth title with a 19-run victory over the hosts.

Set 120 to win on a slow pitch and in humid conditions in Sharjah, Scotland were stifled by Bangladesh's variety of spin options and could only manage 103-7. Opener Sarah Bryce kept her side in the game with 49 not out but struggled for support as the middle order stuttered under the pressure of a chase. There were also some early nerves from Scotland in the field, with three chances dropped amid a promising bowling effort to restrict Bangladesh to 119-7. Sobhana Mostary top-scored with 36 for Bangladesh as they chose to bat first in unknown conditions, considering the infrequency of women's cricket played in the United Arab Emirates. Boundaries proved difficult to come by, particularly against spin, with all-rounder Saskia Horley taking three late wickets to keep the total to less than a run a ball. The conditions suited Bangladesh, who expertly applied pressure on Bryce and her sister and captain Kathryn as Scotland's most experienced players, with the latter falling to seamer Marufa Akter for 11. Scotland failed to recover after the skipper's departure at the end of the six-over powerplay, with Ailsa Lister the only other batter to reach double figures with only five boundaries managed in the entirety of their innings. It is Bangladesh's first T20 World Cup win since 2014, and their first ever away from home, and they next face England on Saturday, with Scotland up against West Indies the following day.

Knight believes England took their eye off the ball during the previous tournament in 2023, when they were surprisingly knocked out by hosts South Africa in the semi-final. "We probably did look ahead a little bit, and some players started to turn their heads towards a potential final," said Knight. "That was a real big mistake but one we've learned from really well." England rightly start the World Cup with confidence, having finished their home summer unbeaten and with the benefit of a pre-tournament camp in Abu Dhabi, which has helped the players acclimatise to hot and humid conditions. They beat New Zealand in their second warm-up game after losing the first to defending champions Australia, the world heavyweights who have won six of the previous seven T20 titles. And while Knight insists England are not thinking about their rivals yet, they are boosted by the last time they played one another competitively in last year's Ashes, where England won both white-ball series. "That is our blueprint for how we want to play against any team, Australia or otherwise," Knight added. "As a team, we have learned so much since 2023 and this summer has given us a lot of confidence because we have added a bit more smartness to the style of cricket that we want to play."

The six-time champions suffered a slight wobble, falling to 35-3 in pursuit of just 94, but opener Beth Mooney's unbeaten 43 led them over the line with 34 balls to spare. Sri Lanka were thoroughly outplayed in a pitiful batting effort and crawled to 93-7 from their 20 overs as Australia started in predictably ruthless fashion. And while Sri Lanka fought bravely with the three early wickets on a slow pitch offering some uneven bounce, they ultimately paid the price for such a paltry total as Australia's strength in depth once again prevailed. The sluggish pitch did not allow for Australia's usual free-flowing style, as captain Alyssa Healy fell for four, Georgia Wareham was clumsily run out for three and star all-rounder Ellyse Perry was bowled for 17. Yet Mooney, who was dropped on 22, held her nerve despite struggling in the brutal heat. The low-scoring trend of the tournament continued as Heather Knight's side successfully defended their 118-7, with Bangladesh crawling to 97-7 in response. Spin dominated again on a slow, sluggish pitch as Linsey Smith and Charlie Dean took two wickets each. England's batters also struggled on the surface, with opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge top-scoring with 41 but they were generally wasteful against Bangladesh's slow, wily bowlers. Though conditions were in the bowlers' favour, England threw several wickets away by committing to an aggressive approach throughout. Opener Maia Bouchier was caught at mid-off for 23, Nat Sciver-Brunt was lbw walking down the pitch for two, Alice Capsey was caught reverse-sweeping for nine and Wyatt-Hodge was stumped trying to hit down the ground. A heavy defeat by New Zealand saw India's net run-rate plummet, but they still took 18.5 overs to chase just 106 against their rivals. It was a comfortable chase in the end with such little scoreboard pressure, but Fatima Sana's two wickets in two balls in the 16th over, with 26 runs still needed, kept Pakistan in the hunt. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur showed composure with 29 from 24 balls, though she had to retire hurt with two runs required, leaving Sajeevan Sajana to hit the winning runs from her first ball. The nerves had increased because there was such little intent or urgency throughout the modest chase, with the usually aggressive opener Shafali Verma making 32 from 35 balls and Jemimah Rodrigues adding 23 from 28. Bowlers dominated in both innings, with no batter looking particularly comfortable in timing the ball as seamer Arundhati Reddy starred with 3-19 for India. Nida Dar top-scored with 28 from 34 balls for Pakistan but they lost wickets regularly, and failed to put a decent partnership together to put India's bowlers under the pump. In contrast, India managed to keep wickets in hand, which made their approach even more perplexing as they crawled to 25-1 after the six-over powerplay without hitting a boundary. But they are off the mark and though they will be favourites in their next match against Sri Lanka on Wednesday, are still under huge pressure to reach the semi-finals with defending champions Australia still to come in their group. Pakistan are also still in contention but also face a significant challenge as Australia are their next opponents on Friday.

In another low-scoring encounter, Scotland were restricted to just 99-8 from their 20 overs, with West Indies reaching their target in 11.4 overs. Deandra Dottin, who came out of retirement to play in the tournament, rolled back the years with an explosive 28 not out from 15 balls and sealed the dominant win in style with a six. There were some nerves as the experienced duo of Stafanie Taylor and Hayley Matthews fell early for four and eight respectively, but Qiana Joseph's 31 from 18 balls provided a much-needed surge to lay the platform for Dottin. West Indies' disciplined bowling effort ensured they were chasing a modest target in spite of a sloppy fielding performance, with Scotland's Ailsa Lister dropped three times on her way to a top score of 26. Captain Kathryn Bryce added 25 as the pair tried to rebuild from slipping to 13-2, but boundaries were hard to come by with the ground's big boundaries and the slow outfield. Bryce's side were guilty of losing their wickets in clusters as two fell with the score on 13, two on 59 and two on 76, restricting their momentum considerably throughout the innings. It was an impressive fightback from West Indies, who were thrashed by South Africa in their opener, and will be in a strong position to take on Bangladesh in their next outing on Thursday as the quick chase gave their net run-rate a crucial boost. Opener Maia Bouchier struggled as South Africa dominated the powerplay, before Alice Capsey - who was dropped on nought - added a dynamic 19 to take the sting out of the Proteas' attack, before the experienced duo's match-winning partnership of 64. South Africa, who knocked England out of the previous T20 World Cup in 2023, were restricted to 124-6 after another stellar performance from England's spinners. Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt hit 42 but England squeezed the rest, with left-armer Sophie Ecclestone delivering an impeccable 2-15 and Linsey Smith, Charlie Dean and Sarah Glenn claiming a wicket each. All-rounder Marizanne Kapp threatened to finish the innings explosively before she was bowled by Ecclestone for a 17-ball 26, but Annerie Dercksen's 20 from 11 balls secured a total over a run a ball, which have been hard to come by throughout this tournament. England are in a promising position to finish top of Group B, and South Africa are still in contention for a semi-final spot as both teams take on winless Scotland next, with the Proteas playing on Wednesday and England on Saturday.
