What about: Lee Archer Lee Archer running down the wing, Crosses like a king, Feared by the reds, loved by the blues, Lee Archer. Lee Archer. Lee Archer... As opposed to Archie Archie Archie (with the synchronisation of hand movements).. Did that Robin Hood tune really get sung for Lee Archer? I only remember the Ar-cher! Ar-cher! to resurrect the Archie Stephen's chant. I do remember the Manchester United fans singing the Robin Hood tune for Ryan Giggs. Didn't realise before now there was a pejorative version, aimed at Giggs by rival fans. p.s. you need 'Lee Archer, Lee Archer...' again to start to the 2nd line, to make it fit. Yea, definitely. Until he misses the pen v Shrews in Mickey Mouse cup area final....

- Lee Archer Lee Archer running down the wing .......... 'Robin Hood' - TV theme.
- We'll drink a drink a drink, to Stewie the king the king the king .......... 'Lily the Pink' - The Scaffold.

Help needed!
I've thought of a couple more tunes that I'm sure I've heard on terraces housing Rovers supporters.
- Give It Up (Baby Give It Up)... probably a 2-syllable first name and 3-syllable surname. - D.I.S.C.O. ... probably a combination of 5 syllables - either 2 and 3, or 1 and 4 - maybe a incorporating a double-barrelled surname.
Have we used these? If so can you remember who or what it was about?
Ta!

In the interim I've remembered a version that used 'Give It Up', but not one for a player's name, it's one of the various 'Going up!' songs. No joy with 'D.I.S.C.O.', though. However, the cogs have whirred and I have come up with other songs.

I can't think of one example of DISCO anywhere either

We are Gas, We are Gas, We are we are we are Gas. Haven't heard it for years but remember it from late Eastville or early Twerton. More of a chant than a song but it probably derives from something popular, but for the life of me I can't work out what

Ah, Daydream Believer, those halcyon days of watching Rovers and singing songs by your (then) favourite group. Brings a tear to the eye.

I dont think that the original Mods sang it at Brighton, just another thing that the film made up.

Some tote end reminisces:
I O Rovers...Rovers I O (Pompey Chimes).
We all agree Bristol Rovers are magic!
Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly, "Have you heard of the North Bank, Highbury?" "No" said Shanks, I don't think so... But I've heard of the Tote End, aggro....

In my mind I've got an Italian style song, sung by a 50s/60s crooner. But I can't place it. It might help if you slow it down, try singing 'Daaa, daaa, da-da ...' in a Dean Martin style. I don't know the tune for the other one. Lord of the Dance fits?? p.s. I've thought of a load more since. Will take a bit of time putting it all together. Some of the sources of these chants are very surprising!

I think the song is Cielito Lindo: From reading around a bit, it's possible the song made its way to football via an advertising campaign for Tortilla Chips
