Now Angela Rayner hires £68,000-a-year 'vanity photographer': Deputy PM is the first to have taxpayer-funded staffer to burnish her image - as sleaze controversy grows By Andrew Pierce and Jason Groves 21:32 22 Sep 2024, updated 07:18 23 Sep 2024 Share or comment on this article:561 shares 4.1k comments Angela Rayner is billing the taxpayer thousands of pounds for a 'vanity photographer' to boost her image. The Mail can reveal the Deputy Prime Minister, who has been mired in controversy over freebies from Labour donors and could face a sleaze inquiry, has risked a fresh storm by appointing the personal photographer on a salary of £68,000. Although Downing Street has employed photographers to record the Prime Minister for some years, Ms Rayner is the first deputy to be awarded her own. Simon Walker has been given the title of Chief Photographer to the Deputy PM and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. Ms Rayner yesterday acknowledged that voters were 'angry' about revelations that she and other senior figures, including Sir Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves, have taken thousands of pounds' worth of gifts, such as clothes, holidays and tickets, from wealthy donors. She said donations had been 'a feature of our politics for a very long time', but insisted she had not broken any rules. TRENDING It’s no wonder there’s a black hole with these commies continuously having there beaks in the trough !! ToryBoyPierce as he likes to be called is being disingenuous as the Tories had up to 3 photographers at one point [Boris had his own] all paid for by the taxpayer and their duties covered the full remit of Ministers including the Deputy Prime Minister. And as reported the photographer is hired to cover the work of the Department. 'But the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) said the photographer had been hired to chronicle the work of the department, not just Ms Rayner. “Many government departments employ official photographers to share the work of the department and ministers with the public,” the department said.“This is a civil service role and will be part of MHCLG’s communications team.” ...On his LinkedIn profile his job description is listed as “chief photographer to the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government”.He had previously worked in No 10 as chief photographer to Rishi Sunak. Ms Rayner was not involved in the recruitment process for the photographer, the PA news agency understands.'
Those non resident non tax paying billionaires owning the newspapers, must be really upset and scrapping the barrel if this is the best their editorial staff can come up with to have a pop at Rayner. They must really hate her don't they!

Well he has had some brilliant predecessors to learn from in the last 14 years, Boris being the Yoda of perfected lying. Would you rather he did f*** all about veterans then?

Starmer pledges national renewal but warns of hard economic trade-offs..by Henry Zeffman, Chief political correspondentichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/1024/cpsprodpb/3fe5/live/c05f37d0-7a76-11ef-b02d-c5f3b724a1ea.jpgSir Keir Starmer entered the stage to a massive ovation and that’s hardly a surprise. This is a huge moment not only for Starmer but for the Labour Party. It’s 15 years - 5,474 days to be precise - since a Labour leader last addressed their annual conference as prime minister. For Labour activists, it’s been a long old slog - from Ed Miliband through Jeremy Corbyn to Starmer. Starmer himself had his fair share of lows: moments where it would have felt frankly implausible to suggest that he would one day be prime minister. Starmer announces a new policy for veterans who are homelessness, as he discusses repaying those who "put their lives on the line to protect us all", "Homes will be there for heroes," he says, saying the government will house veterans who are in need. He calls it is a "hidden injustice". "People who were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for our nation - who put their lives on the line to protect us all, but who will not have a safe place to sleep tonight. "We cannot stand by and let this happen anymore. "And so today, I can announce that this government will respect that service. We will repay those who served us, and house all veterans in housing need. " He is still saying that things are going to be tough, and tough for a while - he essentially advertised that there will be more controversial decisions like the means-testing of the winter fuel allowance to come. Yes, the prime minister is saying there’s light at the end of the tunnel. But he’s still saying there’s a tunnel. Starmer references riots that took place in across England and in Northern Ireland over the summer, following the fatal stabbing of three young girls at a dance class in Southport. He says people who are concerned about immigration "were not doing that" because they understand this country is a democracy and we "debate our differences". "We do not settle them with violent thuggery," he adds. "Racism is vile," he tells the conference, as the audience stands and applauds. Starmer ends to long, rolling applause from the conference audience. "People said we couldn't change the party, but we did. People said we wouldn't win across Britain, but we did, people say we can't deliver national renewal, but we can and we will." He says his government will "stabilise the economy, clear out the Tory rot, fix the foundations and deliver a mandate for change". He then hugs and kisses his wife, Victoria, as he thanks the audience.

Commies, commies, commies, they are coming to get you!!! What factual evidence do you have that they are all communists, or can we just pluck a name out of thin air to insult people. I suppose those who oppose them are Nazis and Fascists if we want to stick to extremes....

The photographer is NOT, that's NOT for her. It is for her department that she heads up. All Governments have them for press releases and publicity. It is not the commies invading.

Demographic time bomb, need to recruit people from overseas to maintain the economy to pay for older people, but don't want to import people with such a different view to our own? Heres a novel idea, maybe we should prioritise Europeans? Oh, I see. 🤦♂️ Dear dear dear. Can you not debate a subject without going all sixth formish and simplistic? Nobody disagrees with immigration, but it has to be controlled immigration. The country has to ensure the right type of workers are coming into the country, and not just people who will be a drain on the resources. Nothing to do with anyone having different views to our own. Why should we proritize Europeans? Isn't that being narrow minded? Your suggestion that we do so smacks of raising the drawbridge to the rest of the world. I disagree with immigration, I don’t want any , . why I voted reform , though to be fair at the time ticey said 1 in /1 out which I begrudgingly accepted , when that changed to zero immigration that cemented my vote , when they’ve stopped them comming then they can start shipping them already here out . I posted on here I believe a while ago exactly the above , nothing has changed my view immigrant suppress wages ( mine in past ) , there turning large swathes of this country into third world s**t holes( I travel with work all over country ) , I guess it’s home from home for them , and as again I believe I posted on here a while ago , our local mp put a colum in a local rag saying they were going to spend 2.2 million on 10 houses for Afghan asylum seekers & she hoped the people who’d been on the council list for 20 yrs wouldn’t complain !!!!! ( I had to get the mrs to check the 20 yrs as I couldn’t believe it , thought it was 2 yrs , but it said 20 yrs ) , I don’t live in London / Bristol , where I live you can buy a decent house for £150/£160,000 so why are they spending £220,000 on houses !! , the mp refused to discuss it , uproar locally To be honest it’s a joke , tories with there Rwanda plan , commies with there border force , we’ve had a few move in our street and we got rid of them within weeks , send them to Coventry , don’t interact with them , may sure they know there not welcome , they soon get the message & go , trouble is you’ve got all the liberal thick commies making them feel welcome 🙄, could do with a me & my neighbours in every street
