🤯🤯 Ummm, is there a point in there somewhere? I gave up after the 21st paragraph of regurgitation. Cue, in true Dick Emery style "Oh Les, you are awful, but I like you" 🤭🤭🤭 Les, Oh dear les, i really do expext more from a 72 year-old gent like yourself, if it upsets you so much then you do not have to read it or respond. Les, you do need to watch your health by getting all het-up about topics that are just news after all, the nonsensical inane regurgitation is boring Les. Les, just about to sit back with my milk and cookies to watch that Jack Nicholson 1975 classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, have a good evening... There you go...and on repeat. This guy has watched "One flew over cuckoo's nest" so many times because of my temerity to point out that he is boring for not having the bollox to actually express an opinion, he must know the script by heart. What's does any of this have to do with the thread title? Nothing

Les, do keep calm and carry on...

Do you think he needs any lessons about pushing OAP's into poverty as outlined in the official government figures? But why should younger people with children pay for it? Answers on a postcard to "Jumping on a Bandwagon Hypocrites Inc Guido House" Wow, you really are showing your true colours. Seriously, your lack of empathy and humanity is disturbing. As with Aghast, can you please point out where people on here are being hypocrites. You throw these meaningless insults around, but you can never back them up.

The hypocrisy Nobby is on so many issues of government spending, I would define it as use of our taxes, you decry support for those on lower incomes, or seek to deny pressures on those groups exist. Boomers like me, in principle, do not need empathy

In the intervening periods, do you ever consider whether it is right or wrong that young adults should have their incomes taxed to pay for boomers like me to receive non means tested universal benefits, regardless of need? Without pictures or copy and paste from the Daily Mail. Also, could you tick the box which seeks to confirm you are not a robot, if Indeed you are not.

I think I thought it really quite wonderful.

Les, OMG, the 'pop' must be really flowing now and you are all revved up, you could always add up all those payments you did not want and donate it to a charity in need. Go on Les, be a devil and put the unwanted payments recieved by you over the years and donate it to CIN, W&G, St.Peters, BHF, CR, GOSH, GD's, RBL, BRC or an other.

Today's Labour feck up......Huge cuts to Defense announced today in the HoC by the Defense Secretary. Are they not aware that the world is a pretty dodgy place right now? Whilst it's a pity to lose anything, these aren't as bad as previous ones. The 5 ships are all laid up for lack of crew and were likely not going back into service. We still have some capability, if not the mass. The Watchkeeper drones may well end up in Ukraine or their sensors ported across to other ones. The Chinooks are being replaced one for one over the next few years, this is an early retirement. The Puma reduction is interesting, there is a programme to replace them, I do wonder if that will be another casualty when the Defence Review is published next year.

Boomers like me, in principle, do not need empathy No. Both you and Aghast have called me a hypocrite, yet neither of you can provide any evidence of this. Both of you should either put up, or shut up and apologise. Your acall. You can check every single post I have ever made on this forum and I think you'll find I have never used the "lefty" argument anywhere. I personally find it lazy when people use the "left" or "right" label. That is just my personal opinion. "you decry support for those on lower incomes, or seek to deny pressures on those groups exist." - What!!!!! I am one of those seeking for the reintroduction of the WFA. I am well aware of the pressures on 'those groups'. YOU are the one who is decrying support for those on a lower income as you have this "I'm alright Jack" attitude, and you look down on those less fortunate than you, as has been proven by your words on this very forum. You did well after your "25 rip roaring years in the City" (your exact words) and obviously procured a good pension/savings. Not everybody has had that luxury. You seem to think that anyone who has not had the privilege of those benefits are just stupid people and deserve the poverty that is being inflicted upon them. One of your main arguments over the years is that to fix society we have to deal with wealth redistribution. In reality you look upon wealth redistribution as something that every else should do, but not yourself (I'm alright Jack). I think everyone reading this forum will now understand the type of person you really are. All you want to do is attack the individuals on here. When a real debate is offered to you, you just revert back to personal attacks, time after time after time. Once again I ask, what is your opinion of the official government figures showing that up to 100,000 OAP's will be pushed into poverty without the WFA. Or is that something that deep down you actually support.

Watchkeeper is obsolete and should have been binned years ago. The Chinooks going will leave a two year gap before replacements are provided. Some idiot of a government minister said that in the meantime civil assets can be used to cover the gap. Sorry, but I don't know of any 'civil assets' that can replace the role that the Chinooks bring. Pure fantasy.

The Chinook fleet is still going to be there and once the 14 new builds are delivered, back up to 51. Pumas are doing some work in Cyprus and Brunei, those are the ones he probably means will be replaced by civil assets, H-145s I believe.

Once again I ask, what is your opinion of the official government figures showing that up to 100,000 OAP's will be pushed into poverty without the WFA. Or is that something that deep down you actually support. From the bottom paragraph Like I said the government will need to work out how to deal with financial distress at the margins. There are circa 13 million people like me born in the decade post WW2. We, as a country, cannot afford to be lobbing £300 into our bank accounts willy nilly. The 100,000 is an estimate but should be viewed within the context of the 13 million. The even broader context is the squeezing of P&L spending to free up capital expenditure. Personally I agree with that, but it's a hard political selling point as the ROI is down the road. But you know this. I am not attacking you Nobby but your views on government spending and debt have been expressed since the 2010 election and I refer to that oft expressed viewpoint. I apologise if anything I said came across as personal, that wasn't my intention.
