I read that if Biden does step down the candidate will HAVE to be Harris because of how the donations have been set up...dont know if thats true but in any case Biden or Harris = Trump win.....and a return to World peace.

No It's the constitution. If the sitting President has to stand down the Vice President becomes President. Nothing to do with backers. That comes into play for the nomination for the November elections

That comes into play for the nomination for the November elections I think there is some confusion here. Yes, if Biden steps down as President then Harris will take over, but we are talking about Biden stepping down as the Democratic nominee. If he steps down as the nominee he will still remain President until the new one is sworn in. This does indeed cause problems for the Dems because any money raised so far for the Biden/Harris ticket cannot be used by anyone else. Unless Harris takes over the nomination the money donated has to be returned to the donars. A lot of the money raised has already been spent. The problem the Dems have is that they know that Harris will never beat Trump. Therein lies their problem.

The only time that I can remember the VP taking over was Gerald Ford and I think that he served 3 years as President ? so its a different case to this (just remembered LBJ took over when Kennedy was shot)..... Biden has made a complete mess of this yet I cant really blame him its his wife and immediate family encouraging him...could it be to pardon his son if he gets a prison sentence ? he has another court case coming up soon.

I am hearing (for whatever value that has) that the big debate is whether Biden should stand down NOW. I hear his family are resisting but pressure is mounting. If he stands down now Harris becomes President and have a clear run at the nomination for November. The next ten days are going to be interesting.

Joe Biden campaign memo says 'no indication' anyone else could beat Trump..by Brandon Livesayichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/1024/cpsprodpb/6d6e/live/c5d55ac0-3f8c-11ef-b74c-bb483a802c97.jpgJoe Biden will today hold a solo and unscripted news conference at the Nato summit, his first since a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump The US president's performance at that debate sent shockwaves through his re-election campaign and several high-profile Democrats have since urged him to drop out Critics have said Biden's speeches in front of a teleprompter are vastly different than his unscripted moments, so all eyes will be on his 18:30 EDT (23:30 BST) news conference Biden has vowed to fight on and insists he is the man to beat Trump in the November vote A new Biden campaign memo claims internal polling shows there's 'no indication' anyone else could defeat Trump On Wednesday, Hollywood star and Democratic Party donor George Clooney urged Biden to quit in a brutal column for the New York Times, suggesting the capabilities of his βfriendβ had declined

Starmer has nailed his flag to biden, asked if the president is senile Starmer said no...if it turns out that biden is senile Starmers judgment will be in question.
I wondered how Farage would have answered the question ? maybe "well compared to the EU president Junker Mr Biden seems absolutely fine".

Joe Biden hits campaign trail as Democratic fears deepen..by Jessica Murphyichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/1024/cpsprodpb/68a2/live/91ffa7e0-405a-11ef-96a8-e710c6bfc866.jpgUS President Joe Biden is under intense scrutiny amid questions over his age and cognitive abilities as he seeks to beat Donald Trump in November's election Top House Democrat Hakeem Jeffries has met Biden, telling his caucus in a letter that he shared their "full breadth of insight, heartfelt perspectives and conclusions about the path forward" with the president More members of his own Democratic Party have called for Biden to stand aside, after a stumbling debate performance last month fuelled concerns over his ability to serve another term The president stood firm in a defiant hour-long news conference on Thursday night, where he dismissed the concerns about his campaign But the conference also was marred by occasional errors, including mistakenly referring to Vice-President Kamala Harris as "Vice-President Trump" The president will hold a Friday evening rally in Detroit, Michigan as he continues to defend his re-election bid ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/7/12/aae069dd-135a-41c7-ace2-60a8f6f82cdb.jpg
