Looking forward to see how Phil Salt gets on. He had a tremendous time in the T20's when England last played in the Windies. I think he hit two hundreds? He's also coming off a very good IPL. If he and Buttler stay for six to eight overs at the start of an innings it should guarantee England score over 200 in the innings. It will also be interesting to see Wood and Archer in tandum. It's not very often you see two genuinely quick bowlers bowling together in T20's.

USA stun Pakistan in T20 World Cup super over..by Stephan Shemilt, Chief Cricket Writer.cdn.theathletic.com/cdn-cgi/image/width=770%2cformat=auto%2cquality=75/https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2024/06/06163108/T20-World-Cup-USA-v-Pakistan-1024x683.jpgT20 World Cup, Group A (Dallas)
Pakistan 159-7 (20 overs): Babar 44, Shadab 40; Kenjige 3-30
USA 159-7 (20 overs): Monank 50, Jones 36*
Match tied - USA won in a super overThe United States pulled off one of the biggest shocks in cricket history by beating Pakistan in a super over in Dallas. Pakistan looked to be avoiding embarrassment at the T20 World Cup before Nitish Kumar hit the final ball of the US innings for four to tie the scores at 159. Sloppy for large parts of the game, Pakistan fell apart in the tie-breaker. Mohammad Amir bowled three wides, one of which the co-hosts also pinched two extra runs from. The US scrambled to 18-1, leaving Pakistan to chase 19 off left-arm seamer Saurabh Netravalkar. When 14 were needed off four balls, Kumar made another crucial intervention, this time holding a magnificent catch at long-off to dismiss Iftikhar Ahmed. With seven required from the last ball, Shadab Khan could only take a single, sparking joyous celebrations among the American players and supporters. All this at the end of a riveting contest, one which fluctuated in the burning Texas sunshine. Pakistan recovered from 26-3, including an astonishing catch from America's Steven Taylor, to post 159-7. The US were cruising in the chase, at one stage needing only 56 runs from seven overs with nine wickets in hand. Pakistan forced the super over and should have escaped, but the US completed the first upset of this expanded World Cup, one that gives them every chance of reaching the Super Eights. After beating Canada in their opening game, they may now need only one win in their remaining group matches against India and Ireland in order to qualify. Pakistan, winners in 2009 and beaten in the final by England in 2022, are already at risk of an early exit and must somehow regroup for a showpiece clash against fierce rivals India in New York on Sunday.

England look doomed. They have carried over their form from the One Day World Cup. They are in the position of tussling with Scotland with NRR being the deciding factor! After Scotland's huge win over Oman things are looking bleak!
Bairstow? His figures over the last two years just do not back him up. Time he was dropped. Mark Wood - Once again, his figures just don't add up. Reece Topley would be the better bet, plus Topley played in the recent IPL so would be "match fit". Livingston - Hasn't reached the heights he once promised. He doesn't bring much to the team, unless he's given a better role in the time. Put him up the order with order's to just attack every ball? Harry Brook - Seems to have 'disappeared'. What changed?

ENGLAND WIN BY 8 WICKETS IN JUST 19 BALLS
England captain Jos Buttler: "I thought the tone was set really well by the bowlers, picking up the early wickets. Job done today, another big game in two days' time. "There was that extra bounce, Topley with his height and Jofra with his high release point. They're really challenging bowlers on this surface, and they bowled a good line and length. "I don't think any of us expected the wicket to play like it did, it looked a really good wicket but Rashid found spin." On approach to the chase: "Be ultra positive, we've spoken about how we have to win games and if we have a chance take advantage of the net run-rate and we did that today." On media reaction to tournament so far: "I've been around long enough to know how things work. We know our dressing room, we have confidence. We can only focus on ourselves, we've got a huge game against Namibia."

Friday 14th June 2024 - ICC Men's T20 World Cup - Result
Papua New Guinea - 95 all out (19.5 overs) Doriga 27, Nao 13, Ura 11, Farooqi 3-16
Afghanistan - 101-3 (15.1 overs) Gulbadin 49 not out, Nabi 16 not out, Kamea 1-16
Afghanistan win by 7 wickets
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan: "Feeling great to qualify for the next round. It's been a great effort from the boys from game one and most importantly we have adjusted to the conditions very quickly. That is very pleasing to me. "Someone like Fazalhaq [Farooqi] who is attacking every ball gives us a great base as a bowling unit. It helps us in the middle overs if you get a couple of early wickets. Even if the batter is attacking you, you have to attack as well."
Papua New Guinea captain Assad Vala: "They're a really good side and we gave them four wickets with run-outs. My run-out especially was a bit lazy and put the next two batsmen in to face the in-form bowler. "[Batting] has been challenging, not just for us but every team in the Caribbean. We spoke about trying to give ourselves a chance, spend some time in the middle and then launch later but unfortunately we couldn't execute."

Friday 14th June 2024 - ICC Men's T20 World Cup - Result
USA v Ireland
Match abandoned without a ball bowled
The USA qualified for the Super 8s stage of the T20 World Cup after their match against Ireland in Florida was washed out.
There had been tropical storms and flooding in the morning and over the preceding days which caused a waterlogged outfield that did not dry in time.
The match was scheduled to start at 15:30 BST, with the cut-off time for a five-over match at 19:16 BST.
