no.4 (I think from memory) of yours hacked down McManus shen on a booking. Having said that Boden was also lucky to stay on after kneeing your defender in the back as he shepherded the ball out. Agree on both counts, I thought on another day it could have been 10 v 10. Out of interest, were you on the terrace today? If so, what was the general opinion on our header which was cleared off the line in the first half? Looked over to me, if it was I'd feel a little easier about getting a fairly lucky win today.

Don't worry mate some of us are a bit more considered and not entirely blue and white quartered in our view not to have noticed that. I'm pretty sure in League 2 a second yellow and a red card would have been brandished for the 2nd foul by our number 4 Tom Lockyer, many of us where I was stood were expecting him to be sent off. The standard of officials in this League are poor but that's because that's the level we're all at. You put us under pressure for large parts of the 2nd half and brought out two fabulous saves from our goalie in the first half so felt for you conceding so late in the game. Had a good chat with a couple of Shaymen on the way out too, good luck for the rest of the season (other than against us of course !).

Agree with the sentiments of all the above. We played superbly first half, carrying on from the Forest Green game, but invited Halifax on to us in the second period and I was concerned at one point that they may nick a win. Thankfully we pushed forward a little more in the final 10-15 minutes and carved out a winning goal through Harrison, although he won't know much too much about it. It'll be a huge lift for everyone to have defeated a side who had previously won five out of five and it proves we have nothing to fear from any side. I think we'll get better and better with each passing week and if we can muster up some sort of away form we have a great chance of being around the top half of the league.
Safe to say I'm a very pleased Gashead this evening.

Get in! a win's a win, and if you get the ball up there you can score. So what if it was 'lucky'?

7 points out of nine and we have played 4 of the so called better sides in this league so a tough start to the season. Darrel Clarke is getting Rovers to play some decent football and I for one hope he does the impossible this season. Its still early days but we are definately improving. Onwards and upwards!!

Tough one but recent performances have been promising 2-1 Gas. Anyone know the line up? Just got up and at last my Sunday morning is more bearable! A win against the top team, whatever league you're in, is a fantastic result. COYB! soccer-2JRGAJ

For anyone not there, wait until you see the winning goal, Sinclair gets the ball out from under his feet, creates a yard of space and puts over a perfect cross that just needed nodding down into the net, Harrison manages to head straight at the keeper, the ball falls at the keeper's feet, he smashed it againt Harrison and it bobbles over the line. I'm not complaining, they all count, but let's not try to convince ourselves that we deserved any more than maybe, being generous, a point from today's game. Today's match stats: Possession, Rovers 39% Halifax 61% Shots, Rovers 8 with 4 on target Halifax 14 with 8 on target. Our goal was fortunate, but no more than Parkin's unintentional deflection for FGR last week. Unusual to see luck evened out in such a short period of time.
The match stat you've left off according to the BBC, is corners for both Rovers and Halifax = 0
Clearly whoever recorded those stats, has a different definition of a corner to the one I remember.

I and all around me said it was over. Thought your number 9 looked a useful player, was surprised when he was subbed. Were you looking to shut up shop and take the draw, or was it just a case of bringing on a fresh pair of legs. Good following from you today, hope that you sampled the pasties.

Tough one but recent performances have been promising 2-1 Gas. Anyone know the line up? Well done Jeff - I think in future they shouldn't bother risking injury by playing the game they should ask you what the score will be!

Sorry but this manager is a clown. Happy with the 3 points, but a decent manager would get a lot more out of that group of players. sentence 1 - you should be ashamed of yourself. blinking disgraceful thing to write. I suspect the phrase 'keyboard warrior' was invented for this very issue. sentence 2 - complete conjecture, and just follows what too many gasheads have been saying for too many years, such as 'best defence in the lge', 'best defence on paper'. some people are still in complete denial that we have not had a decent team for many years. we deserve what we get.

luck doesn;t exist. it's just a psychological feeling. we got the ball into the 6 yard box and we scored. it happens. and if you do it enough it happens even more. BBC corner count has been wrong (stuck on 0-0) for several weeks now.

We dominated the first half, no question. Halifax offered absolutely nothing, besides the free kick save from Mildy & the one on one that came a few moments later! Totally comfortable & deserved the lead. I thought Ollie Clarke was magnificent and great to see a few hard tackles going in throughout the midfield.
Second half couldn't have been more different. We started slow, became well under the cosh and there was panic through the whole side. We became disjointed and unorganised! I thought Lockyer was lucky to stay on the pitch, but by then the ref was starting to lose the plot!
Our defence was under ridiculous pressure until Sinclair came on. A player who went looking for the ball, got it under control, took pressure off of our back for by using the thing and sent in a superb cross for our (fortunate) winner.
The second half wasn't pretty, sure. But we dug in and grounded out a win against a side who were unbeaten and 5 from 5! Not entirely sure how any one can be negative, this league like many others is sometimes about grabbing those 3 points by any means necessary! Be it an ugly scraped win or a storming 6-0 victory! We are growing in confidence and climbing the league, you won't see this dude complaining!

We won and ultimatley that is what matters. Cant comment on peformance as wasnt there, but hopefully as we have said millions times after any win, that it might just help that confidence and we will play better, maybe not and we repeat so many things we have done for seasons.
I hope Ellis can kick on. He has the ability and hopefully he is getting his head straight

Just to add to the praise for Cunnington. Winning headers, flick-ons, and holding the ball up well have been mentioned already. He was also excellent winning headers to help out the defence.
We came under a lot of pressure from corners and long throws, and AC seemed to win the most and help clear the ball up field.
Okay, when up front, there were a couple of occasions he should have released the ball earlier and we lost possession, but he does show desire to win the ball back. That was typified at home to Telford when he lost the ball by the centre circle and then immediately ran to chase down two clearances, one straight after the other, ending with a throw in near the corner flag.
He covered a lot of ground yesterday.

I thought that DC's post match interview was spot on! Look at it this way a home win against a previously unbeaten side, where instead of just thinking yeah great we won the team have thought actually we should of been better and we've still managed to get all three points. There have been plenty of times when I've watched rovers play teams off the park and lose. In terms of the game itself I thought we looked good in the first half because of Mansell, he had a great game - might have been carrying a knock second half? - maybe why we started to get bogged down in midfield in the second half? Also thought Martin looked good. Not convinced with White though.
Onwards and upwards. UTG
