How the hell did Barton end up at Rovers in the first place, wasn't there anyone at the club brave enough to open his mouth and say this guy was a lit stick of dynamite and dangerous. Didn't he get a vote of confidence once when he wanted to quit after relegation and it was announced he could lose 50 games on the trot and still wouldn't be sacked, such was Barton's magnetic influence on the entire club. What was equally unbelievable was that posters especially on Gaspravda thought he'd be in demand from other clubs higher up the Leagues following the promotion. Barton, as he's illustrating now needs help, he's not a well man.

Watching and listening you have to suspect he is a psychopath, pure and simple. What brought that on who knows (if it's true) The bigger question, for us, is how the hell did he work himself in the position of determining our clubs future?

On my phone. Can't figure out how to move this thread to "General Football Chat". For, thank God (chose your God), it is now, most certainly, NOT Rovers related. Amen to that.

I'm not sure it's very much football related. This sleb's done with the game maybe. Bye, now.

He also had rovers, at times, playing some of the best football i've ever seen us play. I suspect if he didn't believe in himself 100% and listened to other people, could keep his mouth shut when needed he could become a really good manager and maybe he still will.

Has anyone got an example of hearing something they were impressed by, something they wouldn't have been aware of, an insight, from someone who has played at the very highest level in the men's game?

He thinks he’s the new Andrew Tate. Wael appointing Joey is just as unfathomable as the electorate voting for Boris - people have surprisingly clouded judgement when it matters most.

I suspect if he didn't believe in himself 100% and listened to other people, could keep his mouth shut when needed he could become a really good manager and maybe he still will. Games with 65% possession and very few shots on target may have worked in League 2 but it sadly became 65% possession and Zero shots on target in League 1. Tippy tappy possession football didn't work against teams that could shoot and score. We also struggled against physical sides who at times made us look soft and very ordinary. The epitome of that was against a later relegated Accrington side who completely bullied us off the park and made us look very ordinary when they went at us. You need steel as well as artistry in League One. Something we did not have. His football and results lost him the job, not his reputation. Spending millions to get back to where you started would have got the best managers sacked.

This interview with Emma Hayes is the best I've seen in this totally needless "debate", where she quotes him as saying that the use of female pundits and presenters in men's football was part of a "woke agenda". He doesn't usually let his slip show like that so he must have been a bit rattled. With this I padlock the dungeon door to this cretin forever and a day. www.bbc.com/sport/football/67659547

Lots of valid points are written here. May I suggest, however, we enjoy today focussed on the teams and management of a couple of others, namely Matt Taylor and Darrell Clarke?

Looking forward to the game and hope MT gets off to a good start, for his own sake as well as ours. The midweek trophy game was nothing to go by because players seldom put much effort into that tournament until late on.

No, the trophy's nothing to me, so must be nothing to some at Rovers too. Today, Taylor starts for real, and I'd let him build gradual and prolonged improvement, finishing each season even only slightly higher placed than the last. Win more games, lose fewer, play football, please. Clarke (whom I respect) wants fifteen wins to keep Town up. Let him get them from fifteen other matches. Today's Taylor's first Rovers win, thanks very much.

Arsène Wenger and Alex Ferguson should never have been allowed to manage football clubs in the Premiership ... they never played at the very highest level in the men's game.

"Makes Robbie Savage sound like Sir David Attenborough, doesn't he?"
Nice one, AMPG
I watched the Sheff Utd v Liverpool game the other night, and the only outstanding highlight of a dull 90 minutes, was the woman commentator (sadly I didn't get her name). The game was streamed by Peacock, an American arm of, NBCUniversal. Her MALE so-called pundit an ex-professional footballer was . . .
Still, it was free, and had a proper set of cameras unlike the rubbish iFollow dish up for a tenner. Sadly, I don't get to watch many live games, though online viewing with Mrs. darlo, is highly entertaining
#UpTheROVERS I think you listened to Pien Muelensteen Darlo, she is the daughter of former Manchester United coach Rene Muelensteen. But as a paid up subscriber to Peacock TV I want to know why old blokes in America have to pay for it but old blokes in England get it for free. The “special relationship” is all very well but there are limits.
