We can't judge Matt Taylor until he's brought in his own squad of players and sorted out the mess left by his negligent predecessor. I've heard he's asked Field Marshal Sir Bernard Montgomery to implement a great reset behind the scenes. That's how it works at Rovers isn't it ? Do we think there will be a decent amount of money available in January though for transfers?

Do we think there will be a decent amount of money available in January though for transfers? I don't think Gasheads should expect there to be because in his first interview Hussain Al-Saeed made it clear his priority is to make the club more sustainable and to improve the infrastructure. If the Al-Saeeds are able to change the culture of the club so that we don't have these wild swings from extreme pessimism to extreme optimism and back again then Rovers will be in a much better place. In 21/22, managed by Matt Taylor, Exeter City had a total spend of £6.7 million to come second in League 2. In 21/22, managed by Joey Barton, Rovers had a total spend of £10.7 million to come third in League 2. That spending gap is too big. We don't necessarily have to cut total spending to £6.7 million but we've got to cut it back significantly and get much better value for money than we do now. And the owners will have to be frank with Gasheads and tell us they have inherited a financial mess which needs to be sorted out and that we may have to go backwards before we start to go forwards. This is going to be difficult because of the games which have been played over the past few years to kid supporters into believing the club is financially sound and we are "going in the right direction". But that is in the past and if the Al-Saeeds are honest with Gasheads I hope they will receive our full backing.

Personally, I’d love to know how the Al Qadi ownership trebled, nearly quadrupled the outgoings. It’s a bizarre situation, for sure.
