Plot: The film is about Aida, a UN translator who tries to protect her family and help the inhabitants of Srebrenica after the Serbian army takes over the area. The film explores whether Aida can help her family, get her sons to safety, and help the others.

Former Foreign Secretary David Cameron has told BBC Radio 4's Today programme he was working up a plan to sanction two Israeli ministers until the UK election this summer intervened.

Cameron, who served in the last Conservative government, believes that Labour should pursue action against Israel's Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir - the minister for national security.

"I think there are other things we can do to put pressure on [Israel's PM] Netanyahu, and say, 'of course we respect your right to self-defence but we do want you to act within the law'," he says.

"Saying to Netanyahu, 'yes we support your right to self-defence, no we're not going to end our sale of arms, but actually when there are ministers in your government who are extremists and act in this way, we're prepared to use the sanctions regime to say this simply isn't good enough and has to stop'."

He says he's "concerned that nothing has happened" since he was foreign secretary and the government "needs to look again at this sanctions issue".

"We all want to see this conflict end, but it's got to end in a way that's sustainable," he adds, saying it's right to back Israel's right to self defence, but it's not "a blank cheque".

It's important that aid gets into Gaza and that UN peacekeepers in Lebanon are respected, he says.

The mayor was among five people killed today in Israeli strikes on the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh, a local source tells the BBC.

An eyewitness described the situation as "frantic terror", saying at least nine violent air strikes had targeted the city within the span of 30 minutes.

The eyewitness, a local of the city, said one of the air strikes had hit Nabatieh's municipality building where the mayor was attending a crisis cell meeting to deal with the humanitarian situation in the city.

The city resident said he saw ambulances rushing towards the scene to help with the search and rescue efforts.

The Ministry of Public Health has confirmed the strike, saying the initial death toll currently stands at five people killed.

Israeli military says it is 'checking' if Yahya Sinwar was killed in Gaza. AP have reported more details on reports that Hamas’ top leader Yahya Sinwar has been killed in a military operation in Gaza (see 13.53 BST).

The military said in a statement on Thursday that three militants were killed during operations in Gaza, without elaborating. It said the identities of the three were so far not confirmed, but it was “checking the possibility” that one of the three was Sinwar.

It said there were no signs that Israeli hostages had been present in the building where the three militants were killed. 
There was no immediate comment from Hamas. Sinwar was one of the chief architects of Hamas’ attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. He was chosen as the group’s top leader following the assassination of Ismael Haniyeh in July in an apparent Israeli strike in the Iranian capital Tehran.
