Wycombe Wanderers containing four former Rovers players arrive at the Mem.
A 2 nil win hopefully to improve our poor home record in 2023.

We have played Wycombe 43 times..W19, D5, L19, biggest win 3-6 & 1-5, loss 3-4 and the 5 draws were 0-0 & 1-1 x 4 Wycombe were founded in 1887, are known as the Chairboys and play at Adams Park which has a capacity of 9,558 Manager Matt Bloomfield is 39 and played all his 558 games in midfield for Ipswich and Wycombe... Since becoming a Football League club, they have also built on & off again rivalries with neighbouring clubs Oxford United, Milton Keynes Dons, Luton Town & Reading. Ex-Gas players in their squad are Joe Jacobson (71 games for BRFC) Luke Leahy (85 games) & Brandon Hanlan (49 games).. Ex league managers of note were Martin O'Neill, Lawrie Sanchez, Peter Taylor Gary Waddock and Gareth Ainsworth.. Wycombe are currently in 17th place, BRFC are in 14th place.. Not an easy game, we have not beat them at home since 1st December 2015 in 4 games. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/47/Bristol_Rovers_F.C._logo.svg/200px-Bristol_Rovers_F.C._logo.svg.png upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/fb/Wycombe_Wanderers_FC_logo.svg/150px-Wycombe_Wanderers_FC_logo.svg.png

Never an easy encounter against these cheating, shirt format thieving, chair making (anyone can do that) pretend rivals. The gamesmanship police should be busy today.
So many poignant past matches that have we have ended up on the wrong end of, yet these guys have decided a 25year gravity to remain a league club, they were our last league match at Twerton and actually, have a genuinely lovely view from their ground.... hellfire!
I think surely we'll have too much for them this time round!? Don't want to get complacent....with the thunder and lightning coming in early doors (hopefully see some of you down the road in some sort of reprobate shelter?), hopefully we can metaphorically replicate this on the pitch to claim the bragging rights in this hostile encounter...?
3-0 Gas. JM has had time to tune his radar boots in last few matches, should now be in fine tune.... maybe a 2 goal hawl? Perhaps a hat trick?
No safety officer coming to your rescue this time, chairboys...... mainly because no bugger knows if we have one these days!

Hope we thrash them as I dislike them intensely but as you say O2 you have to respect that they are now an established EFL club. I fear the worst though as this is the sort of fixture we limply surrender in. Was really hoping when we won at their place some years ago that it would be the nail in their EFL coffin but of course they had the last laugh. You are right too O2 that their facilities and set up are decent which must help with sustaining the club

Wycombe, the most legitimate reason I can find for disliking League 1. Think I'll nip down the Mall instead

Cant get my head around the team sheet.
Apparently Wycombe have completely changed style since I vowed never to watch them again.

75% of possession 0-1 down.
Bit of a familiar trend so far this season.

No centre forward and no goal. Possibly a link there.
What is it with opposition players celebrating infront of the opposite sides fans. It getting worse and worse. Not happy with celebrating half the length of the thatchers he then started doing it a 2nd time and then complained about the yellow card. Love to see him get sent off.
Lack of movement up front as our striking positions are attacking midfielders.
JM at half time hopefully, but it will probably be 20 mins later.

HT 0-1
If looking good won games we'd be top the league.
What little chances we create rarely result in a shot on goal. All very frustrating.
I'm not convinced signing a talismanic forward would fix it, we are simply not creating enough chances
Still 45 to go so maybe all that can change.

I wish we would adopt a shoot on sight policy irrespective of the managers wishes.

Cracking save from Cox.
Could have been 0-2.

Another good save from Cox.
This possession football is doing my head in.
I've started shouting at the TV now which is never a good sign.
