This thread demonstrates exactly why we will never get an adult discussion regarding immigration.
Oldie just throws insults at people instead of engaging.
Immigration is the hottest political topic right now all across Europe. People's voting intentions make this quite clear, and government's are beginning to react to those voters with attempts to close borders everywhere.
Yet Oldie just dismisses the fears of people with cheap personal insults. His head in the sand attitude will only make things worse. Immigration is a real problem, requiring real discussion and real answers.

Immigration the biggest thing on the agenda in Europe right now,possibly in the US too,the problem here is that lefties like to try and link immigration with racism, if you want less immigration that makes you racist...try telling that to various non white people that i talk with,they have concerns about whats happening with immigration at the present level. |

I absolutely do believe that immigration is an issue that needs to be discussed.
But...what I object to is framing the debate by
a) skin colour
b) choice of faith
c) ethnicity
d) culture
What I want it to be framed by is
a) benefit to our economy
1. Skill
2. Additional labour
b) a counter to our inherent demographic pressures
c) a recognition of the north / south divide in the world economy.
So, if someone comes on here shouting anti Muslim or anti this or that skin colour, then yes, the response will be appropriate

Why all the 'liars!' stuff? Nobody is ever going to say that the area has always had a large immigrant population. It hasn't so what would be the pint of saying otherwise? Calm down. My two observations about that photo are: -it's a great example of harmonious and peaceful racial integration. In fact if you are attempting to show that this melting pot is about to boil over, you could't have chosen a less appropriate picture. -the picture shows what it shows, but it's a selective example you've chosen, to make whatever point you are trying to make (and I'm ot really sure what that is). I have seen many photos of the day and watched videos, and the profile of the people in attendance simply does not match the one you managed to find and chose to use. Firstly, I'm not angry so I am calm, so stop day dreaming about stuff there. You seem to be missing a point, which yourself , Oldie and a few others always seem to do when talking about this issue. My point of this picture was to highlight how much the UK population has changed.This is the area that I grew up in, it never used to be like this 30/20 years ago.This has been a forced cultural change upon us.These are the demographics now, and probably a reasonable repetition of the area today. Now, I never said that was a good or bad thing,I'm just pointing it out. ... When I said SEEM to look Muslim, I meant that I was aware that they were Muslim due that they were apart of of the Muslim scout group from Ashley down.I was being facetious Oldie..
