Anti mass immigration demonstrations in Dublin today.Protesters laughably accused of being far Right.
The protesters were working and middle class Irish and they had travelled from all over Ireland to be there.
Ireland has a relatively small population and of course its people know full well how the invaders population grows very quickly.
I wish Ireland luck. The luck of the Irish.

The Irish are one of the biggest migrant nations per capita in history. Fleeing from famine, poverty, oppression and the like, and the Irish are well aware of the welcome they have been given in other nations. I do wonder at the motives of these people and their lack of empathy. Hundreds of them, not thousands. Obviously I have my own views. You forgot to mention the counter protests by decent Irish citizens against this gathering.

I really don’t think you can compare the famine in Ireland of 1845 to 1852 where one million of its' citizens died of starvation and disease, and a further million fled the country with 100,000 dying on the "coffin" ships and many being fed to the sharks to what is occurring today in the UK and Ireland. Many of these who fled to the UK faced racism and were attacked just for being Catholic. The Irish who left in the 80/90s went to the UK for work, my wife being one of them. She arrived in London on the Saturday and started work the following Wednesday paying her UK taxes etc and until we left for France in 2007 she never claimed 1p in benefits. Now compare that to those rocking up on our shores and crossing the border from the North into the Republic of Ireland .

We should know exactly who is coming into the country, where they have come from with a full background/criminal check, where they will be living/working. I would also expect them to integrate into society. Is that really too much to ask for? Unlike those who land on our shores illegally, who throw their papers into the channel so we have no idea who they are etc.

Really?! You believe that they come half way round the world for our wonderful benefits which are less than other countries they would have crossed. Most of them want to work. That is why it has been stupid to let them languish for 3 years in a hotel while our broken system tries to sort out their applications. Sort the applications quickly. Let them work to cover their accommodation while that's happening, and pay tax. Then let them stay or fail them and send them back. It's not rocket science.

Just re- read the last paragraph of francegas' post..why and what is the reason for that if you are looking for a new start in life?Surely if you have your REAL ID then things like ' work' can be achieved that much quicker

Or is it an open border?

Oh I do...I just wonder if you like to read stuff as you want to think it's written Nor sure I've understood your thoughts here. You mentioned the words apparently and seemingly, which means you don't know. So Oldie is correct in saying you can't know that.
