Wonder how that oxygen thief Owen Jones is feeling now having previously posted this....
" The Sun is a disgusting rag and they have to pay for what they've done to Huw Edwards.
They tried to destroy someone's life with false claims if illegality involving a minor.
We know now there was no criminality, and The Sun have driven a vulnerable man into medical care"

BBC denounced 'abhorrent behaviour' after Edwards' court appearance..
After Huw Edwards pleaded guilty on Wednesday, the corporation said: "The BBC is shocked to hear the details which have emerged in court today. There can be no place for such abhorrent behaviour and our thoughts are with all those affected."
It said it had been "made aware in confidence" in November 2023 that Edwards "had been arrested on suspicion of serious offences and released on bail whilst the police continued their investigation".
"At the time, no charges had been brought against Mr Edwards and the BBC had also been made aware of significant risk to his health," the statement continued.
The corporation noted: "If at any point during the period Mr Edwards was employed by the BBC he had been charged, the BBC had determined it would act immediately to dismiss him. In the end, at the point of charge he was no longer an employee of the BBC."
It reiterated that the BBC had "kept its corporate management of these issues separate from its independent editorial functions" during this period.
"We want to reiterate our shock at Mr Edwards’ actions and our thoughts remain with all those affected," the statement said.

Huw Edwards thanked by ex BBC chair after arrest..by Gwyn Loader, Chief correspondent, Newyddion S4C.i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article30139072.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/1_elan-closs-stephens.jpgThe former chair of the BBC publicly thanked disgraced newsreader Huw Edwards for his "huge contribution" despite knowing he had been arrested in November last year. Dame Elan Closs Stephens (above) was appointed interim chair a few weeks before the Sun newspaper first made allegations about Edwards' private life, leaving shortly before his resignation from the BBC in March this year. She also referred to him as "poor Huw" on Welsh-language radio programme Beti a'i Phobol last month. In a statement to BBC-produced Newyddion S4C, Dame Elan confirmed she was aware of the arrest in her capacity as interim chair of the BBC, but was not aware of the "terrible details which have come to light this week" after he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. On 2nd July, Dame Elan said on Welsh-language radio programme Beti a'i Phobol she was "proud to thank him [Edwards] personally for all his huge contribution and all the skills he has demonstrated that will help those who will succeed him". Discussing the initial allegations made by The Sun newspaper about Edwards' personal life, published in July 2023 and prior to the criminal charges later brought against him, Dame Elan said: "It was a sad story, and it was obvious The Sun newspaper was going to make the most of the occasion because poor Huw was so well-known." i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/06/02/12/71692179-12152233-image-a-3_1685705624607.jpg"Of course, the Queen's death and funeral and the Coronation had happened within a few months. "The first thing of course was ensuring Huw was alright and that the family received care and protection. "More than that, they have obviously come to an agreement after my time [as BBC chair] has ended so that matter is a private one." BBC Wales contacted Dame Elan initially to ask for her response to Edwards' guilty plea on Wednesday. She declined to comment. Newyddion S4C subsequently asked whether she stands by her comments on the 'Beti a'i Phobol' programme following Edwards' guilty plea this week. In her written statement, she did not address that point directly. Dame Elan said revelations from the the court had come as a shock to her and that she was "horrified by it all". She added her "thoughts are with the children whose images are central to this story".

Hugh Edwards is to keep his BBC £300,000 pension, if I've understood correctly.
£25,000 a month.
How will he manage.

I think Bas is referring to the fact that he is keeping his pension in spite of events. The Sun [Good old Rupert and his love of the BBC] in particular has raised the issue of clawing back the pension which Tim Davie as BBC 'boss' says they cannot do.

BBC starts removing Huw Edwards from archives..by Noor Nanji, Culture reporter.i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/02/27/22/78214807-13133281-Huw_Edwards_is_the_highest_paid_journalist_at_the_BBC_and_led_th-a-35_1709072574359.jpgThe BBC has begun to remove Huw Edwards from some of its archive footage after the former broadcaster pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children. It is starting with family and entertainment content on iPlayer, according to the Observer, external who first reported on the move. Until last year, Edwards was one of the main presenters on BBC One's News at Ten and often fronted coverage of major national events. “As you would expect we are actively considering the availability of our archive," a BBC spokesperson said. "While we don't routinely delete content from the BBC archive as it is a matter of historical record, we do consider the continued use and re-use of material on a case-by-case basis.” Edwards resigned from the BBC in April citing medical advice. On Wednesday, he admitted having 41 indecent images of children, which had been sent to him by another man on WhatsApp. The Observer claimed that the removal of certain content was aimed at "protecting audiences from repeats of Edwards' most visible work in news and on state occasions", including the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. A Doctor Who episode featuring Edwards' voice has already been removed from iPlayer. The episode from 2006 features David Tennant and Billie Piper as the Doctor and his companion Rose Tyler. The pair travel to the future to the London 2012 Olympics where Edwards' voice is heard as part of a televised BBC news report. A mural of the former newsreader in the presenter's home village of Llangennech, Carmarthenshire has also been removed. Artist Steve Jenkins, 50, painted over the portrait on Tuesday after it was announced Edwards had been charged. Cardiff council has also removed a plaque honouring Edwards at Cardiff Castle.

Huw Edwards stripped of top Welsh honour after admitting child image offences..Report by Branwen Jones, Reporteri2-prod.walesonline.co.uk/incoming/article29692166.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/1_Huw-Edwards-Pleads-Guilty-To-Charges-Of-Making-Indecent-Pictures-Of-Children.jpgThe National Eisteddfod confirmed that there had been a "unanimous vote" at a meeting to terminate the journalist's membership of the Gorsedd The former BBC news presenter, Huw Edwards, has had his membership terminated from the Gorsedd at the National Eisteddfod. On Thursday, August 8th, the organisers of the festival confirmed that there had been a "unanimous vote" at a meeting to terminate the journalist's membership, and as a result, he would also be expelled from Gorsedd Cymru. It comes after the National Eisteddfod confirmed it had begun a process to strip the disgraced former BBC presenter of his membership of the Gorsedd of the Bards on Wednesday, August 7th. Edwards pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent pictures of children between 2020 and 2022 at Westminster Magistrates Court on July 31st. He will be sentenced next month. Edwards, who had not been seen in public since July, 2023, arrived at the court in dark sunglasses and a suit, flanked by security, to admit to the crimes. The 62-year-old former presenter admitted three offences of making indecent images of children, with one featuring a child aged between seven and nine. The court heard Edwards, who left the BBC in April, had 377 images on his WhatsApp between December, 2020, and April, 2022. It was later revealed that these had been sent to Edwards by 25-year-old convicted paedophile Alex Williams.

One of my best friend's sons has to work on computer and phone images that have been ceased, and then categorize the images as has been done in the Edwards case. The poor lad has to see some of worst images imaginable, often with children. He does an amazing job and still manages to keep his sanity.

I totally agree about the Police, they deal with absolute scum on a daily basis,I know that we complain about them from time to time but its a job with many terrible days, imagine dealing with the suitcases of chopped up bodies on the suspension bridge, fatal car crashes, railway suicides...they are prime candidates for PTSD. I met a bloke years ago and he had worked for or with the national crime intelligence service and he said exactly the same about the images of children were the worst things and he wasnt specifically part of that team....

BBC asks Huw Edwards to return more than £200,000..by Yasmin Rufo, BBC News.ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/1024/cpsprodpb/6289/live/ec347d30-4fe6-11ef-8f0f-0577398c3339.jpgHuw Edwards has been asked to return his salary paid since his arrest, with the BBC chair telling staff the ex-presenter acted in “bad faith". BBC chair Samir Shah said the corporation believed he had taken his pay despite knowing he was to plead guilty to the offences. Edwards, formerly the BBC's most high-profile newsreader, continued to earn his salary for five months after he was arrested on three counts of making indecent images of children, during which time he was paid more than £200,000. Edwards was suspended in July last year and arrested four months later. He did not resign from the BB***til April this year. The BBC has not confirmed whether legal proceedings will be undertaken if Edwards refuses to pay back his salary. Director general Tim Davie confirmed in an interview last week that the corporation knew the presenter had been arrested over the most serious category of indecent images of children in November. In a statement, the BBC Board said it "supports the decisions taken by the director general and his team during this period". It added that had Edwards been up front when asked by the BBC about his arrest, "we would never have continued to pay him public money". "He has clearly undermined the trust in the BBC and brought us into disrepute". The statement also said the board has "agreed to look at lessons from this period, including the BBC's approach to the rules surrounding payments when employees are suspended". Workplace culture reviewEdwards pleaded guilty in July to three counts of making indecent images of children. The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2020 and 2022 and relate to 37 images that were shared on a WhatsApp chat, according to the Metropolitan Police. The BBC statement noted that while the nature of the charges relate to his own personal life, "the board believes these events have also put a spotlight on the question of power imbalances in the workplace". Between April 2023 and April 2024, Edwards received a salary between £475,000-£479,999, an increase of £40,000 on the previous year. Last week, the Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said Huw Edwards should return the £200,000 to the BBC. The BBC has also announced a new independent review into workplace culture. The review will "include work already being undertaken within the BBC, as well as working with the rest of the industry as appropriate". More information, including the leadership of the review will be announced in early September. The BBC has contacted Huw Edwards' lawyer for comment.

BBC radio 4 this morning had an interview with Blair, apparently he has written a book on leadership, now the BBC arent supposed to advertise so why did they keep mentioning his new book ? supposed to be politically unbiased too so why have the creep on there at all ? the interviewer calling him Tony ffs.
I cant stand listening to the bloke but since he's started losing his front teeth he is whistling as he talks ,the dogs started getting a bit irate, maybe the BBC need to give us a 30 second warning when they have him on so we get a chance to turn the radio off.
