www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2023/january/quansah-signs/We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Jarell Quansah from Liverpool! The Warrington-born centre-half, who turns 20 at the end of this month, becomes the second signing of the January transfer window. After captaining the U18s team to the FA Youth Cup final in 2021, Quansah featured regularly for Liverpool's U21s and was twice an unused substitute for the first team. Jarell, who has been at Liverpool's Academy since the age of five, ended last season by playing a starring role as England won the UEFA U19 European Championship, playing in every game and scoring in the semi-finals. Quansah, who will wear the number 5 shirt, said: "I can't wait to get started at Rovers. I'd known of the club's interest in me for a little while and I'm looking forward to meeting all the lads and showing everyone what I can do."

But is does depress me when fans have a real downer and expect the worst before the lad has kicked a ball. I am at least willing to give him a chance to settle in!

Good point.i am not putting a fowler on him but trying to be realistic and not put too much pressure and expectation on him before he pulls on the shirt.we did the same with clarke salter who had a similar pedigree and he couldn't take it

Welcome to Rovers JQ. We all hope it goes well. There are never any guarantees with any player, old or young. Being a tad harsh on JCS, I’ve seen far worse players with experience make mistakes. I thought JCS was ok and his career since he left us after his loan has been in the Championship so he’s done well. Was it the Millwall match that he had a poor game? But I saw him play well on other occasions. Young players can be inconsistent and sometimes it’s best to wait until they’ve played for us before passing judgement.
JQ has a very good pedigree and being at Liverpool means he’ll be learning from the best. Well done the club and JB for getting this done in an area of the team that needed reinforcements.
UTG!

Happy with this, the current management team have a fairly decent record with loan signings so far, I hope it works out well for Jarell.

It was the Millwall game and Steve Morison murdered Clarke Salter and he was a World Cup Under 21 winner. Time will tell us all how decent this young un will be.

Rob (The Mighty) Quinn. Stephen Quinn (6 games on loan from WBA). Rob Quinn - P86, G3 James Stephen Quinn - P6, G1 The only 3 players to have been on our books with a Q surname. You are clearly forgetting Percy Queef and Jack Quagga from the 1919/20 season BT. Quagga met an untimely and premature end in the Transvaal when he was shot by an angry Boer farmer for eating his vegetables.

It was a worry to see JCS take the field wearing shades, flip-flops and a beach towel over his shoulder. Pretty sure that win put Millwall in the play-offs at the expense of Southend. My match report did not delight my in-laws on the Essex Riviera.

Rob (The Mighty) Quinn. Stephen Quinn (6 games on loan from WBA). There you go...? Ultimately forgettable players! Rob Quinn was truly awful. The footballing equivalent of a road cone and his only attribute appeared to be tackling empty space. Did have one good game in the 50 something he played for us if I recall correctly. He is fortunate that we had Andy Spring turn out for us to avoid him winning the accolade of our worst ever player. Craig Stanley wasn’t much better either.

Craig Stanley wasn’t much better either. Possibly the worst mid-fielder to regularly turn up for the Gas. These in the dire days under Ray Grayman. I worked with someone who knew Rob Quinn at school down in Chiselhurst and said he was a very, very average footballer. I think there was a story about Quinn walking off at FT and that he always made a point of walking alongside Ray. Asked why, he said that it was then not obvious if the crowd were venting their frustration at him or the manager.
