very good team performance today and unlucky not to win,i thought the whole team played well with trotman star man though mansell and clarke in centre midfield were very dominant. totally baffled by the savage critics of parkes, taylor and cunnington all 3 did well

Agree dire first 15 minutes then the team seemed to grow in confidence which was good to see.
Spare a thought back to our game against Grimsby which was goalless - in the past 2 games Grimsby have now scored 13 goals !!!
Perhaps we need to relook at how they are now playing, and also build on the many positives from todays game against one of the divisions favourites for promotion

I don't think this link has been put up here yet, sorry if it has.
Some young lad has posted the whole game on youtube. Drag the doofer to 2.10 mins to get straight to the start:

Hi, I was the Wally with the Brolly helping you to park tidily in the park and ride. Thank you all for being so cheerful despite the weather and the hold ups getting some of you back to your cars. I saw about 2/3rds of the game, both the goals, not the most exciting game but good solid conference stuff. Best of luck for the rest of the season, I know being down here must be a bit of a bug**er but the fans are generally a friendly bunch, just like you lot! Tom Williams

I thought Trotman was superb today; both Ellis and Sinclair did well, Parkes passing is worrying, Lockyer needs to play centre back or centre mid, he is not a full back, cant turn, a good winger will always give him the run round. Over all thought we were the best team. Away days are great cant wait to visit Braintrre Town. Down side after five games we are already 10 points behind FC Halifax, can not afford to lose at home to thenm on saturday. UTG

Definitely would have taken a point beforehand the fact many think we deserved more is a positive,
Well worked goal too!
As Oldie said, it starts here!

Tom Williams Thank you Tom, had an enjoyable time with you all, met a couple of older FGR fans who used to travel to the Eastville Stadium in the 1950's and recalled watching former Rovers players like Harry Bamford, George Petheridge and Geoff Bradford ! I also visited Stroud almost for the first time and had a decent meal with two fellow travellers before heading back to South Wales Good luck for the rest of the season (other than against us of course !).

Thought this was a good performance.
We stopped FGR playing the passing football that has brought them success so far this season. Hughes and Parkin hardly had any opportunities.
Before today I was worried about our ability to perform in the Conference Premier. I'm not worried now.
Taylor will get goals. 9 in 32 Conference appearances last year is a reasonable rate against most of the strikers we've had since the Walker-Lambert combo.
Midfield looked strong, and the Defence dealt with everything that came their way.
AND we've probably got the best keeper in the Conference.

UTG Lockyer had Freer in his pocket all the match, he's clearly a better option at RB than the, so far, disappointing, Leadbitter. Whilst Parkes seems to have lost the ability to pass at least he can still defend.

I really don't know what some fans are expecting from our centre halves, if they were defence splitting ball playing players they wouldn't be playing for us. The best we can expect is they are consistent in clearing balls out from defence, from set pieces or in play. If we get something more then we're going to be dead lucky but occassionally because of their imperfections they are going to make mistakes, that's not because they are doing it on purpose but because that's the limit of their ability.

It's all about opinions Bridgeman. I accept I am in a very small minority but thought that Trotman was great in the air but ordinary on the floor. At one point in the second half he hoofed the ball into the Rovers fans right footed such that it went 10 yards back under little pressure on the edge of our box. Most County League defenders would have taken it on with their weaker left foot and made 30 yards in the right direction.
Re Parkes - we all can see his distribution is weak so Mansell and Clarke and Monkhouse should be coming short to get it off him. Overall though a decent team effort and a point more than we thought we'd get after the Altrincham game.

Re Parkes - we all can see his distribution is weak so Mansell and Clarke and Monkhouse should be coming short to get it off him. This is exactly right in my opinion. You can only distribute the ball to the options available to you and often when Parkes was hitting it long (and he wasn't the only culprit) there wasn't another obvious and safe option available that didn't put possession of the ball in danger in our own half. It's incumbent on the midfield to run into space or run back to collect the ball. If this doesn't happen I find it hard to criticise our back four if they hoof it because if they try to pick a pass and lose the ball short they will be crucified. It takes the whole team to be playing to the game plan to make it work and hopefully that will come with time. That said I think we are trying to play much better football this season - obviously work still to do but it's early days. Darrell said in his post match interview he hoped the fans could see what he's trying to do in terms of playing style and that implies that he doesn't think we're the finished article by any means - but we're trying to play nice football as much as possible. I think he deserves a chance to develop this with the support of the fans to see where it takes us. After all we've been complaining about hoofball for years so give 'em a chance I say.

Listened on the radio and found that I did not grimace or cringe once!, sounded like we played quite well, and deffo a step in the right direction, that point is a great point at FGR, and lets not forget that that was our second game in three days and FGR had an extra days rest, so at least it appears the fitness levels of Rovers is pretty good, pleased with that.

Why are Rovers wearing away kit?

Why are Rovers wearing away kit? Because the away kit has it's own sponsor so I assume will be worn at every away game
