Harry Buckle, If you attended Barnet you would have seen that McCrystal/Trotman partnership was a disaster but that was down to McCrystal. Stick with Parkes/Trotman I think.

Whoever is solely blaming DC for Parkes' poor form is well off the mark as it doesn't explain why he has been relatively poor for the last 12-18 months. The main reason is Ward making us play so defensively last season when we weren't good enough to be defending for 90 minutes and his confidence disintegrated. On the back of that we got relegated, which won't have lifted his spirits, and he has fans on his back again at the beginning of this season, which is not helping.
We saw a very good centre half when he first signed on loan from Leicester City and I think that same player is still in there somewhere, but he needs to be alongside a dominant right footed centre half. I don't dislike McChrystal by any stretch but he is not worthy of a place in the starting XI ahead of Parkes, Trotman or Lockyer (as a CB) at the moment and with Turley still likely to come in he looks increasingly like our fourth/fifth best central defender. He will come back into the team I fear as he's captain but it wouldn't surprise me if we look defensively frail once again as a result.

Not sure whether this will be taken the right way but here goes anyway.
Darryl & Tom are both from Mansfield and most people would say that meeting up 150 miles from home to work together should mean they will get on well. But it doesn't always work like that and, having lived close to Mansfield a few years ago, I know the character of the people up there and they have many good qualities but they can be a bit bloody minded at times. Remember the first thing Darrell did on being appointed was to take the captaincy from Tom.
Maybe they have had a falling out ? Maybe Tom wanted away in the summer ? Maybe his agent got him a deal but the club wanted a fee because McGhee told them they would make money out of Parkes one day ?
Lots of maybe's but if a player is unhappy and not being managed effectively then he is unlikely to perform and if the leadership can't resolve the situation they may be better off cutting their (perceived) losses and moving on to players they can manage.

Parkes could have been worse defensively but some of his decision making had me scrunching up my face is disbelief, often giving away possession, or needlessly playing it TOO safe and giving away a throw in.
As for McChrystal, I didn't see the Altrincham game but against Barnet he was woeful, IMO

He's a professional footballer surely dropping him for one game isn't going to shatter his confidence? If it did then perhaps he's in the wrong occupation! Having said that Parkes had 2 or 3 goal saving blocks/tackles today so perhaps he preferred playing alongside Trotman, it's just a pity it's FGR up nextSent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk . . . closely followed by top-of-the-table Halifax Town.

Sorry, I swear one of you dudes said McCrystal is a 'far better defender'! Not that Parkes is John Terry or anything, but come onnnnnn!

Thought Parkes has looked better defensively recently but he's never been the best passer of the ball and that hasn't changed. Playing alongside McCrystal who's legs have seemingly gone and lee brown who has seemingly given up trying to play football and so has returned to playing suicide balls back to our centre halfs, Parkes is often pulled out of position trying to cover for the pair of them.

Why is it Lambert leaves Rovers and loses a stone in weight but players join us and gain it? Brunt and Parkes both clearly out of shape. The explanations for this are key things that should have, but clearly haven't been covered in the top down review.

Seems he can't win if he did nothing posters would moan, he takes action and posters blame him for shattering Parkes confidence. As regards Brunt he's clearly had (has?) a serious knee problem so the club can hardly be blamed for his lack of fitness.

I wouldn't blame DC he seems he is on to this problem but simply doesn't have the backing of the Club. I'm convinced Brunt was a much lighter player when he joined - with a well run fitness programme within the club injuries should not affect players in this way.

Parkes is clearly a poorer player now than at the end of 12/13 season. How many players who Rovers kept at the end of that season improved after Coach DC arrived, just Smith and he's gone.

And how many players bought by Trollope,Buckle and Mcghee improved under them? Its about time this witchhunt for Darrel Clarke stopped and people started to hold back on the poison. Every little thing is Clarkes fault/doing even tho you all know the club is skint and rotten from top to bottom. very sad.
