WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RESULT.
Wednesday 29th March
Arsenal 2 (Maanum 19, Blackstenius 26) Bayern Munich 0 (agg 2-1)FT: For the first time since 2013, the first time in a decade, Arsenal are Women's Champions League semi-finalists. They were irresistible in the first half, and impassable in the second. Hugs and cheers all round for Arsenal, Mead and Miedema are on the pitch with their team mates. The Bayern players look devastated. They will know they did not bring their A-game tonight. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/2941/production/_129216501_gettyimages-1477907174.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/161C1/production/_129216509_gettyimages-1477907726-1.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/14EF7/production/_129215758_gettyimages-1477886264.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/29/74df8bff-efd3-4ba3-8848-ac57c8105d77.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/29/7abe6602-7393-4709-8ce9-9de11aa26b19.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/29/4a61365d-c6cb-4af2-ad16-8cc37533aef4.jpgIt's an attendance of 21,307 at the Emirates tonight - a record for a women's European club fixture played in England. Superb stuff from all the fans who braved the rain tonight, they are being richly rewarded so far. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/29/8c1e582f-0bc4-4567-b22c-b4859dc77477.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/29/bee16652-6849-413c-8a41-091b31c5b57c.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/29/d392bd94-24ca-47f8-9311-e9af493b3199.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/29/9a04b845-2f36-4ee3-9d85-25138ddaf211.jpgStats - Arsenal 44% - Bayern 56% - Shots 14-4 - On Target 8-1 - Corners 6-7 - Referee: Marta Huerta de Aza Arsenal put in a stunning display at Emirates Stadium to come from behind in their Women's Champions League quarter-final tie with Bayern Munich. Needing to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit to make the semi-finals for the first time in a decade, Arsenal were intense from the off and blew Bayern away in a scintillating first-half performance. Frida Maanum scored one of the goals of the season when she struck the ball beautifully into the top corner after being teed up by a flick from Leah Williamson to open proceedings. Bayern were shaken by Arsenal's relentless pressing and with a record crowd for a women's European match in England in attendance, they struggled to deal with an onslaught of pressure. Stina Blackstenius capitalised to make it 2-0 when she headed in from close range and defender Lotte Wubben-Moy almost added a third but her cross clipped the crossbar. Bayern goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs pulled off numerous saves in an inspired performance to keep the scoreline down at half-time, and the visitors did pose a greater threat in the second half. German midfielder Lina Magull came closest when she had a shot blocked from close range before her header bounced dangerously wide off Arsenal defender Rafaelle Souza. But Arsenal had done the damage in the first half to record a memorable victory in European competition and they remain in line to win three trophies this season. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/8701/production/_129216543_gettyimages-1477907537.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/481D/production/_129216481_gettyimages-1477906687.jpg

Marc Skinner: Women's Champions League scheduling 'strange'..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/9D63/production/_129219204_gettyimages-1442846849.jpgThe scheduling of the Women's Champions League semi-finals is "strange" and "needs to be looked at", says Manchester United manager Marc Skinner. Women's Super League leaders United were set to play Arsenal in a crucial title clash on 22 April, but that fixture will have to be moved. Arsenal's win over Bayern Munich means they face Paris St-Germain or Wolfsburg on 22 April in Europe's last four. "I'm sure there's space for it to be put somewhere else," said Skinner. "I'm hopeful our fans will still come as they travel ridiculous amounts and are ever-present." Following last night's memorable 2-0 victory at Emirates Stadium, Skinner added: "The reality is we have to do all we can to get fans through the door as we know how important they are to us. "We have the whole season to adapt and evolve. Now we're adapting our league schedule when it does affect the fans. "If we want our league to be an exciting run-in and we want consistency, then I do find it strange. I'm sure Arsenal do as well. They have to do a mid-week game away. It should be looked at." Matches in the group stages of the Women's Champions League are played on a weekday, but the semi-finals are set for the weekend of 22nd and 23rd April, while the final is played on Saturday 3rd June. WSL leaders United are currently three points above fourth-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand on their rivals.

Bethany England: Tottenham boss Vicky Jepson 'would not leave' striker out of Lionesses World Cup squad..ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/8504/production/_129225043_gettyimages-1476216709.jpgSarina Wiegman should not leave Bethany England out of the Lionesses squad for the World Cup, says Tottenham interim boss Vicky Jepson. The 28-year-old Spurs striker was not included in Wiegman's latest squad despite scoring five goals in her past six Women's Super League appearances. England joined Spurs in January having had limited playing time at Chelsea. "It is obviously disappointing to see her left out of the squad," Jepson said. Wiegman has opted for Manchester United's Alessia Russo and Aston Villa's Rachel Daly to lead the attacking line in their upcoming games against Brazil and Australia - the last fixtures scheduled for England before this summer's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. "I do know Sarina has a difficult task with the amount of forwards she has to choose from," added Jepson. "But for me, I would not be leaving Bethany out of the England squad going into that World Cup." Jepson, who was made interim Spurs manager after Rehanne Skinner was sacked, said England's omission from the Lionesses squad "hasn't affected her", but that she will "never stop wanting" to get back in. "She is hungry every day when she comes into our training ground," Jepson added. "She will be respectful of the decision but she will work tirelessly hard to put herself in a good position." Tottenham have lost all but one of their seven league games since England's arrival at the club and sit just five points clear of bottom-placed Leicester. "She's come to our club and we've been in difficult circumstances - and she's still managed to find a way to score goals," Jepson said. England, who has 11 goals in 21 appearances for her country, scored the only goal in Tottenham's crucial win against Leicester earlier this month. It was a game Jepson said could be "the difference between us staying up or going down". She added: "Beth took that single-handedly, to score that outstanding goal shows she can score in pressure moments when the stakes are high. "Would I want to see her to go to the World Cup to represent our Lionesses, to score in big moments like that? "Absolutely and I believe she can." ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/36E4/production/_129225041_gettyimages-1465278382.jpg

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - QUARTER-FINAL - 2ND LEG RESULT.
Thursday 30th March..
VfL Wolfsburg 1 (Popp 20) Paris Saint-Germain 1 (Diani 30) - (Agg 2-1)ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/13D0/production/_129227050_gettyimages-1249946240.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/30/140b126e-e315-403f-a034-6b91ee15ddf2.jpgWolfsburg booked a Women's Champions League semi-final meeting with Arsenal after clinching a narrow 2-1 aggregate win against Paris-St Germain. Germany striker Alexandra Popp extended the two-time champions' 1-0 lead from the first leg with a stunning opener. Kadidiatou Diani's goal gave the French side hope but they struggled to convert chances in the second half to level the tie at the Volkswagen Arena. Wolfsburg will host Arsenal, who knocked out Bayern Munich, on 22 April. In an end-to-end encounter, PSG started on the front foot and thought they had the opener when Diani beat goalkeeper Merle Frohms with a composed close-range finish, but it was ruled offside following a quick video assistant referee check. Popp started Wolfsburg's first attacking charge in the 20th minute, linking up with Felicitas Rauch for a one-two pass before sliding into a stunning shot that looped over Sarah Bouhaddi's head and into the PSG net. The Germany striker nearly doubled the home side's lead with a diving header eight minutes later, forcing a superb save from eight-time Champions League winner Bouhaddi. But the visitors' hopes of reaching the last four were kept alive when Diani leapt ahead of Wolfsburg's Dominique Janssen to nod in Sakina Karchaoui's cross. Diani, PSG's biggest goal threat in the first half, left the pitch in tears with a shoulder injury just before the break following a hefty challenge from Kathrin-Julia Hendrich. Wolfsburg opened the second half strongly and should have put the tie out of PSG's grasp with Popp, Jill Roord and Svenja Huth all missing glaring chances. Amalie Vangsgaard threatened for PSG in the latter stages, but the French side struggled to get a proper hold of the game as their opponents continued to push forward. Wolfsburg held off a late PSG surge in stoppage time to continue their unbeaten run in the Champions League this season. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/14854/production/_129225048_gettyimages-1249946332.jpg

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - QUARTER-FINAL - 2ND LEG - RESULT - EXTRA TIME TO PLAY.
Thursday 30th March..
Chelsea 0 Lyon 1 (Vanessa Gilles 76) (Agg 1-1)Kelly SmithFormer England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live Lauren James is key in this. If you can get her in that final third, in those spaces she can turn, she can dribble and play the ball to Sam Kerr. Their link up and understanding is very good. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/02A0/production/_129227600_gettyimages-1478181589.jpgEmma Hayes was a little nervous then! She spun around with her head in her hands before telling her team to push up the pitch and away from their goal. Magdalena Eriksson has looked a bit shaky. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/30/9bb30890-c2bc-401d-b10d-80c10911354c.jpgOh cheeky Erin Cuthbert. She nips the ball away from Delphine Cascarino and then Lauren James does well to calmly carry the ball away from the danger in the middle of the park. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/30/8cc46a6e-3702-41d6-9b58-52159e0216a2.jpgOh wow, Melania Leupolz took a hand to the face from Danielle van de Donk. No malice in it but she stays on the deck as play continues until the referee halts play and Leupolz sits up to show her face is absolutely covered in blood. Looks a very sore one. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/30/ac567884-1fd9-48af-84ee-3b94b3dd27ee.jpgLooks a painful one for Melanie Leupolz who was still struggling to stop the blood as she walked off the pitch, Sophie Ingle enters the field. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/3/30/b98975c0-7e2b-4687-9629-881e57e6d82e.jpgKelly Smith
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live Lyon have had the upper hand for the last five minutes and they have scored at a crucial time. If I was Emma Hayes now I would be saying ‘Stay in the game, stay switched on. It is crucial we don't concede another one'. They need to try and take control of this game again. .................................................................................................................. Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live Stamford Bridge is so loud right now. It feels like there is a lot of belief in this place. ................................................................................................................. Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live It was there for Chelsea. Lyon had switched off. What a tantalising cross from Lauren James. Sam Kerr was just inches away at the back post. That would have been fantastic. ................................................................................................................ INJURY TIME
Chelsea 0-1 Lyon (Agg: 1-1) We'll have 7 massive minutes added on. ................................................................................................................ Chelsea 0-1 Lyon (Agg: 1-1)Lindsey Horan sends in a sweeping ball, looking for Ada Hegerberg, but it's cleared by a blue shirt. Lyon will just look to use their experience here. They're pinging balls in from every angle looking to try and get a goal. .................................................................................................................... FULL TIME 1-1, EXTRA TIME COMING UP. .....................................................................................................................

In a dramatic penalty shootout, goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger made two stunning saves to deny Lindsey Horan and Wendie Renard and spark wild celebrations in London. It was an extraordinary end to a thrilling two-legged tie after Chelsea were awarded a penalty in the final seconds of extra-time, while trailing 2-1 on aggregate. Following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review, referee Ivana Martincic deemed Lauren James had been fouled by Vicki Becho and Maren Mjelde stepped up under pressure to fire home the spot-kick and set up a shootout climax. Lyon's players and staff were outraged, while the home fans were on their feet as Chelsea composed themselves to deliver the success they craved and seal a last-four meeting with Barcelona. Berger sprinted to the corner flag in celebration after she pushed away Horan's sudden-death penalty and her team-mate ran across to join her. This will go down as one of the biggest victories in Chelsea's history - and they join English rivals Arsenal in the semi-finals. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/16816/production/_129228129_gettyimages-1249984547.jpgTwo English teams in semis

It's slow but little steps. "Obviously I miss being out on the pitch with my teammates but at least I'm here to support the girls. "I'm just trying to enjoy the time where I don't have the pressure to play all the time." On possibility of making the World Cup: "No hopes. I'm going to miss the World Cup, which is hard. But I hope to be back ready for the start of next season. I need to be realistic." On team mate and partner Beth Mead's recovery: "She's obviously a bit in front of me [recovery wise], but I think you heard what Sarina [Wiegman] said last week, there needs to be a bit of a miracle for her to be fit for the World Cup. We're both just trying to work hard. It's frustrating for me because I'm a month behind, so I see her doing a lot of things and I'm not there yet. But it's very helpful [to be there for each other], and I hope we can just push each other as much as possible." ...................................................................................................................................................................... Arsenal matchwinner Katie McCabe speaking to the BBC:
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/EBF5/production/_129250406_gettyimages-1477907677.jpg"It's been a lot [this week]. Qualifying for the first semi-final in the Champions League was unbelievable, and then the quick turnaround to get fit. I had a fantastic medical team to help me." On today's performance: "We didn't start the game as well as we wanted to, but the team showed their resilience to come back from a goal down to then win it in the end. It's a massive three points." On the title race: "We're just concentrating on ourselves and each game that's put in front of us. It's just another three points [today] and we just need to keep chipping away at it until the end of the season." On her match-winning goal: "It's something we have been working on to be honest. Our set piece coach had been wanting us to try it for a while. We weren't winning the first contact when it was going in direct [from the set piece], so we just thought we'd change it up. And I was happy to see it hit the back of the net." On maintaining momentum: "We want players to go away with their national teams and stay fit, and then come back and prepare for a massive end to the season. It's going to be an exciting run-in."

THE FA WOMEN'S SUPER LEAGUE - RESULT.
Sunday 2nd March.
Leicester 2 (Tierney 20, Jones 90+6) Reading 1 (Wellings 45)ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/104F5/production/_129250866_gettyimages-1460540516.jpgCarrie Jones scored a 96th-minute winner as Leicester beat relegation rivals Reading to climb off the bottom of the Women's Super League table. The home side heaped the pressure on in the second half and finally got the goal they deserved when Jones swept home in the sixth of 12 added minutes. Midfielder Sam Tierney put Willie Kirk's Leicester in front after 20 minutes with a wonderfully controlled volley from Courtney Nevin's cross. But Reading were level on the stroke of half-time when Charlie Wellings lashed home after Amalie Eikeland's shot was blocked. Sanne Troelsgaard had the chance to put the visitors ahead one minute into the second half but her shot from the edge of the box was blocked. From that point onwards, though, it was all Leicester as they laid siege to Reading's goal in search of a winner. Tierney was denied by the visitors' goalkeeper Grace Moloney and then saw a header from a corner hacked off the line by Jade Moore before Remy Seimsen curled a shot against the post. With Reading barely hanging on, there was a late chance for Hannah Cain after Jess Sigsworth, making her return from the bench after more than a year out with a knee injury, picked her out with a cross but the header flew over the bar. ichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/240/cpsprodpb/1116A/production/_129249996_gettyimages-1246259340.jpg

Hawa Cissoko and Emma Snerle make way for Lisa Evans and Melisa Filis. West Ham XI: Arnold, Shimizu, Fisk, Smith, Evans, Filis, Parker, Brynjarsdottir, Asseyi, Hayashi, Thestrup. Subs: Hillyerd, Stringer, Snerle, Atkinson, Longhurst, Cooke, Denton, Cissoko, Houssein. Easy enough for Liverpool, they're unchanged from their 1-1 draw with rivals Everton last time out. Liverpool XI: Laws, Koivisto, Robe, Bonner, Campbell, Hinds, Kearns, Nagano, Holland, Daniels, Stengel. Subs: Cumings, Kirby, Roberts, Silcock, Matthews, Taylor, Humphrey, Lundgaard, Van de Sanden. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/2/2afadf8d-adb5-458c-9cee-3c56e5e0c536.jpgJust noticed how low the sun is at Chigwell Construction Stadium. The Liverpool players are staring straight into a supernova. If I was Paul Konchesky I'd be telling all my players to shoot on sight. There's no way Liverpool keeper Racheal Laws can see without a cap on.
