Nottingham knife and van attacks leaving three dead and three hurt..ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/6FFB/production/_130076682_ede202057723f6c71faabb3c28e01a7aa5800dc00_0_3500_23333500x2333.jpgAn eyewitness has told how he witnessed a young man and young woman being stabbed on Ilkeston Road, close to the junction with Bright Street, at about 4am. The man, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “Being a hot night, I had the window open and I just heard some awful, blood-curdling screams. "It’s often quite busy with people coming back from town and you get the usual boyfriend-girlfriend arguments, so I thought it was something like that." He said he heard "awful, blood-curdling screams" and saw a man dressed in black, with a hood and rucksack, "grappling with some people". "It was a girl, and a man or boy she was with - they looked quite young," he said. “She was screaming ‘Help!’ I just wish I’d shouted something out of the window to unnerve the assailant. “I saw him stab the lad first and then the woman. It was repeated stabbing – four or five times. The lad collapsed in the middle of the road. “The girl stumbled towards a house and didn’t move. The next minute she had disappeared down the side of a house, and that’s where they found her. “I’d say it all happened within five or six minutes. The attacker then just walked off up Ilkeston Road towards town, as calm as anything.” The man said he phoned 999 and police arrived at the scene within five minutes. He said paramedics spent about 40 minutes trying to revive the pair. He said he had been too scared to intervene or leave his home following the incident. “It was a horrific thing to witness. I’m in bits here,” he said. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/6/13/14740dae-a101-4350-a828-ffaf5a809391.jpgEyewitness Carl Cassidy said he was dropping his wife off for work this morning when he saw the aftermath of the van crash. “At 5.28am we got to the clock tower and saw a person lying on the floor… some people were gathered round - I thought it was a drug user or something. “Then we pulled up outside the Theatre Royal at the junction of Market Street and Upper Parliament street and as my wife opened the car door we heard an almighty bang. “A white van was heading for my car but it swerved and missed us by inches, mounting the pavement. “I got out of the car and saw two people lying on the ground. The lady seemed okay - she was shaken but sitting up and okay; the man who was hit harder seemed a bit worse. “He was on the other side of the road and people were helping to put him in the recovery position. “Police were following the vehicle but stopped to tend to the injured. “The van drove off and within seconds three more police cars arrived at the scene at which point I left and drove home.” What do we know so far ?
There's still a lot that is not fully explained about what happened today in Nottingham, but here's what we do know: Two people were found dead in Ilkeston Road just after 4am BST on 13th June In another incident, a van attempted to run over three people in Milton Street A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Bentinck Road on suspicion of murder, and he remains in police custody There is no information at the moment about whether or not the incident is terrorism-related

Another 'very rare incident'...wonder what excuse will be used this time 'mental health issues' ? 'lockdown' ? 'poverty' ? Brexit ?

A teenager got stabbed to death at a party in Bath on the weekend, these incidents seem to be a weekly occurrence. Adding to your post: Mikey Roynon death: Police recover knife after Bath stabbing..By Sammy Jenkins & Harriet Robinson, BBC News.i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article30219737.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/1_gm120623TEEN_02.jpgPolice investigating the fatal stabbing of a teenager in Bath have recovered a knife. Mikey Roynon, 16, from Bristol died from a single stab wound at a party on Saturday. A 15-year-old boy from Wiltshire who was arrested has been released without charge. Two other teenage boys remain in police custody. A weapon was recovered by specialist officers searching the area surrounding Eastfield Avenue. Det Insp Mark Newbury said: "Around 50 to 60 people, the majority of which were children, sadly witnessed things no one would want them to see". "As a result, we are working closely with our partners to ensure they have access to support, including specialist counselling," added Det Insp Newbury, the senior investigating officer. He also reiterated previous calls for people to stop sharing footage of the incident on social media, and the impact this could have on Mr Roynon's family. "They are already going through the most difficult of times and you may cause them further upset." Ch Insp Ronald Lungu, of the Bath neighbourhood policing team, said sharing the footage is an offence and could jeopardise the investigation. "People can be prosecuted for sharing footage of juveniles, witnesses or suspects," he added. The identities of under-18s are protected by law and remain anonymous throughout criminal proceedings. Ch Insp Lungu said they had asked for extra time to question three boys - a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old from Wiltshire and a 15-year-old from Dorset, in relation to the incident. The 15-year-old from Wiltshire has now been released without charge. He thanked the community of Eastfield Avenue for "their patience on allowing and supporting" them to continue their investigation. "At the moment our focus is to ensure the family of Mikey is supported and we give them justice," he added. Bath & North East Somerset Council sent out a joint letter with police on Monday to schools and parents in the area explaining some of the immediate actions being undertaken to support young people traumatised by the tragedy. Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Mark Shelford said he had "sought reassurance" from the police to ensure they were being "proactive and working closely with local partners and the community" to put support in place for those affected by the "terrible incident". "I understand residents' concerns about knife crime, and I would like to reassure you the police, our partners, and local communities are working together to tackle the root causes of this issue," he added. Det Insp Newbury said officers were "utilising all the resources necessary to provide the answers Mikey's family deserve and to get justice for him". He said he hoped their enquiries will be completed by the weekend. A cordon is expected to remain in place while investigations continue and Avon and Somerset Police urged anyone with information or footage to get in touch with them.

Nottingham: Students among three killed in Nottingham attacks..By Gavin Bevis & Greig Watson, BBC News.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/743/cpsprodpb/6CB4/production/_130082872_2e227706f5ddd33b2f8b7946403c5c2ff6868686.jpgTwo 19-year-old students and a man in his 50s were stabbed to death in attacks in Nottingham that also left three people injured, police have said. Police believe the older victim's van was stolen and driven at three other people, with one left critically ill. Investigators have not identified the victims, but one of the students has been confirmed as Barnaby Webber. A suspect is in custody. Police - working with counter-terror officers - have an "open mind" about a motive. The 31-year-old suspect was Tasered by police before being arrested on suspicion of murder. Police, who described the incidents as "horrific and tragic" attacks, said detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry. A vigil has been held in the city for people to pay their respect to the victims. Police said they were first called just after 4am after a member of the public reported that two people aged 19 had been stabbed and were unresponsive in Ilkeston Road. There was then another call to Milton Street, where the driver of a stolen van had attempted to run over three people, chief constable Kate Meynell said. One man is in hospital in a critical condition while two others are believed to have suffered minor injuries. The van was then stopped on Maples Street, where a man was Tasered and detained on suspicion of murder. A man in his 50s was also found dead from knife injuries in Magdala Road by a member of the public. "At the moment, we believe that the suspect has stolen this man's vehicle and driven it to Milton Street, where he has then driven at members of the public," police said. Police said they were still in the early stages of the investigation and were yet to determine exactly what the motives were behind this attack. The BBC's Daniel Sandford understands the suspect in custody has a history of mental health issues. That is why at this stage, while counter-terrorism police are assisting the investigation, they are not running the investigation, he says.

A suspect was Tasered by police before being arrested on suspicion of murder. Counter-terrorism police are involved in the investigation, but no link to extremism has been confirmed. Police said they were still in the early stages of the inquiry into the attacks, which occurred during the early hours of Tuesday, and had yet to determine an exact motive. The suspect, 31, is believed to be a migrant of West African origin. Reporting from the scene, the BBC's Daniel Sandford says he understands the suspect has a history of mental health issues. That is why at this stage, while counter-terrorism police are assisting the investigation, they are not running it, he adds. Several roads in Nottingham were closed throughout the day as police combed for evidence, and armed officers were seen on the city's streets. Nottingham City Council leader David Mellen said the city was in "shock and mourning", while the city's three MPs said the area had been "devastated" by the bloodshed.

'mental health issues' how unusual surely no one could have predicted that, probably wont even go to prison, out on the streets in a couple of years 'cured'....maybe sue the Police for tasering him as he is unwell. So sad to see the pictures of the teenagers that were murdered,I cant even imagine how the family and friends of the young girl must feel reading that she was stabbed then crawled away to die alone, it will never happen here but I think that people should be allowed to carry self defence weapons.

Can somebody please explain to me why this cretin should not be executed! Mental health issues as usual. Nothing to see here, jog on. I cant explain why he shouldnt be executed but I can explain why he wont be executed , the sickness of being a 'liberal society'. There are people who's first thought on hearing about this vile crime will have been 'fancy the Police tasering him, there was no need of that' or 'the poor man,I bet he had a hard time when he was young' its like a moral corruption their sympathy is with the criminal and his 'rights'.....never mind the rights of the poor victims. That other animal last week in France stabbing kids in a park, they should be tried (quickly) and executed, these are obvious cases, no mistaken identity is possible when theyre caught red handed. The Police shot 2 dogs a few weeks ago, they hadnt attacked anyone but apparently the Police considered them dangerous so they shot them to protect people, well what about the scumbags who HAVE attacked and murdered people ?

They say their father should've died "naturally in 20 to 30 years time, not on a street because some guy decided it's not his day". One of the sons, Lee, says his father was "due to retire in four months" but "was still grafting" until the end. The other, James, adds: He was everyone's friend, always willing to help. Nobody deserves this but he definitely didn't. None of them did, it's a tragedy." ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/6/14/69dc5365-bae2-4ab5-a3ce-4503d857e265.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/6/14/a74d6c11-cc9e-486b-a99a-e92038e787aa.jpgGrace, her parents and brother Jamesichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/6/14/d35c4500-e02e-4d42-9607-36e6f5d998e4.jpgThe former school of Grace O'Malley-Kumar has paid tribute after her death in the Nottingham attacks on Tuesday. Bancroft's, an independent school in Woodford Green, said the 19-year-old had left them last year. The Taunton School says the 19-year-old was a "much-loved, kind and engaging character". "That a young man of such promise should lose his life in these circumstances is utterly devastating," it says. Describing its community as heartbroken, the school says Barnaby's death will be "very difficult to come to terms with" for all the staff, pupils and parents whose lives he touched.

Gloucestershire Police statement in full..An adult has been taken to hospital with a suspected stab wound following an incident at Tewkesbury School. We were called around 9.10am today (Monday) with a report a pupil had stabbed a teacher. A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the incident. ....................................................................................................................................................... We have just recived a statement from the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. Paramedics were called at 09:08hrs, it said. Three "double-crewed land ambulances and two operations officers" were sent to the scene. "We conveyed one patient by land to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital," it added. The hospital is around 12 miles from the school. ................................................................................................................................................................ Tewkesbury MP Laurence Robertson tells the BBC the school incident is "very shocking, very sad and worrying incident. My heart goes out to everyone who is involved." He adds: "Weapons have no place in a school or society... Tewkesbury is a very peaceful area, it’s law abiding." "This is a very big shock," he continues, adding that the school where the stabbing happened is "very well-known. They carry out extraordinary work. This is such a surprise."
