Europa League Quarter-Final - 2nd Legs - Latest Scores - 60 mins. Thursday 20th April - Reports by Emma Sanders and Michael Emons Union Saint-Gilloise 0 Bayer Leverkusen 2 (Diaby 2, Bakker 37) - (Agg 1-3) Sporting Lisbon 1 (Edwards 20) Juventus 1 (Rabiot 9) - (Agg 1-2) Roma 0 Feyenoord 0 - (Agg 0-1) ............................................................ Sevilla 2 (El Nesyri 8, Bade 47) Manchester United 0 - (Agg 4-2) We go again in Spain. Erik ten Hag needed to do something and has made two changes. Marcus Rashford replaces Jadon Sancho and Luke Shaw is on for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, which means Diogo Dalot moves over from left-back to right-back. GOAL - Sevilla 2-0 Manchester United (Agg: 4-2) Loic Bade Sevilla move closer to the semi-finals with a goal inside two minutes of the restart. Ivan Rakitic takes a corner from the right, it falls to defender Loic Bade, in between two United players, and his looping header bounces in off the underside of the bar. Disastrous start to the second half for Manchester United. They need to score twice or they're out. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/20/fe9e46f9-94cf-45ac-bc14-39c79e039837.jpgRob Green - Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live It's a great run and great ball. The header slowly loops over David de Gea, it puts him off, and it is in off the crossbar. It is a dream start for Sevilla. I cannot see how Manchester United are going to get back into this. A change for Manchester United, their third already inside eight minutes of the second half. Off goes Anthony Martial, who had a loan spell at Sevilla last season, and on comes Wout Weghorst. The big Dutch striker certainly has his critics, but has a chance to transform this. How United need something special from anyone. YELLOW CARD - Caemiro Sevilla 2-0 Manchester United (Agg: 4-2) A booking for Casemiro for a foul on Nemanja Gudelj and it's a really soft one. If United do get through to the semi-finals, they will be without Casemiro as he will be suspended. Will United get that far though?

Sevilla 2-0 Manchester United (Agg: 4-2)
It is an incredible sight in Seville. Almost every one of the home fans is wearing white and almost everyone is bouncing up and down hysterically.
What an atmosphere. The United fans are silent. The Sevilla fans delirious.
Antony, who has cut a frustrated figure throughout tonight, gets a yellow card for a stupid, petulant kick out at Marcos Acuna.
Sevilla 2-0 Manchester United (Agg: 4-2)
Manchester United will be wondering just how they have thrown this tie away. They looked in complete control with seven minutes to go of the first leg, holding a 2-0 lead.
They then scored two own goals, gifted Sevilla another one today with Harry Maguire losing possession before the Spanish side scored a header from a corner.
Thirty minutes for Manchester United to change this. They need two goals. Remember, this tournament is a way into the Champions League. Erik ten Hag's side may well get there anyway through the Premier League, but they had fancied winning this trophy.
A rare chance sees Casemiro shoot from the edge of the box, but Yassine Bounou, diving to his right, parries it away.
Rob Green - Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live
He's [Wout Weghorst] game and he is physical, but he just does not have the quality what they need right now.
SUBSTITUTIONS Sevilla 2-0 Manchester United (Agg: 4-2)
Marcel Sabitzer is off for Fred.

Sevilla 2-0 Manchester UnitedManchester United 20 minutes away from going out. Christian Eriksen takes a direct free-kick and it bounces off the wall and goes wide, before goalkeeper Yassine Bounou gets a yellow card for time wasting. Anon: Bruno is the heart, key and backbone of this Manchester United team, he's not playing and there's no creativity, the entire team looks lost and uninterested. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/20/4dc3ecd2-aa9f-4fe4-96ac-54071b8d2f26.jpgIt's just not happening for Manchester United. Casemiro's ball across is too far ahead of Marcus Rashford and Christian Eriksen. United looking short of ideas. GOAL Sevilla 3-0 Manchester United (Agg: 5-2) Another mess for Manchester United. Sevilla cruising through. United humiliated.

GOAL Sevilla 3-0 Manchester United (Agg: 5-2) Youssef En-Nesyri Another mess for Manchester United. Sevilla cruising through. United humiliated. It's a very hopeful ball forward, David de Gea, outside his penalty area, makes a mess of his attempt to control it, it falls to Youssef En-Nesyri and he slots the ball into the unguarded goal from 35 yards out. Two for En-Nesyri, three for Sevilla. Another present from United. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/20/23d85036-74f9-49d0-be47-46b630774127.jpgAlex Telles, the Manchester United player who is on loan with Sevilla, gets to come on against his parent club for the last seven minutes. Rob Green - Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live It is a horrible goal to cap off a horrible night for Manchester United that's another gift. It's a long hard punt into the Sevillian night sky and he [David De Gea] wasn't sure. He decided to take a touch. It is an impossible task to pull it out of the night sky and it has just rolled into the path of Youssef En-Nesyri who has finished it really really well. It's Brighton in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Sunday so no time at all for Manchester United to sulk at this result. Erik ten Hag will be demanding a response from this woefully poor showing. Rob Green - Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live All over the pitch poor touches and passes. It's been that bad it could knock their confidence its been a complete transformation in a negative sense. FULL-TIME - IT'S ALL OVER - TOTAL HUMILIATION FOR A MAN.UTD TEAM THAT JUST DID NOT TURN UP TONIGHT...
FULL-TIMESevilla 3-0 Manchester United (Agg: 5-2) Manchester United are out of the Europa League after a horror night in Spain. They were 2-0 up in the first leg, before being pegged back to 2-2 at Old Trafford. Yet they were still expected to advance. But United have been absolutely terrible. Harry Maguire lost possession for the first, Sevilla headed in a second before David de Gea gifted the third goal. Two goals for Youssef En-Nesyri and one for Loic Bade. United outplayed, embarrassed. Over and out. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1719F/production/_129432649_gettyimages-1252023269.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/ace/standard/480/cpsprodpb/13C1B/production/_129432908_gettyimages-1252025565.jpg

'They had more passion, more desire, more willingness'
FT: Sevilla 3-0 Manchester United (Agg: 5-2)
Manchester United
Furious Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, speaking to BT Sport, says: "We have to do better, that's the demand. We were not composed, not calm. We didn't beat the press, when you do there are so many spaces behind, and it was obvious at the start how to do it.
"We lost the battles, they had more passion, more desire, more willingness, that's difficult to win games.
"We can't run away from it. On Sunday we have another opportunity and have to step up and show more character and personality.
"It's not about them [the players they were missing], it's about the players on the pitch. They have to perform, I believe in them and trust them but they have to show it and they were not good enough.
"We have shown on so many occasions good things but tonight we weren't ready for the game. At this level, playing for Manchester United, you have to be ready for every game.
"This was a great opportunity, a great occasion, to win something and we gave it away - we have to blame ourselves. It's gone, we can't change it. We have to look forward to Sunday, that's the next opportunity."

'Made more mistakes'
FT: Sevilla 3-0 Manchester United (Agg: 5-2)
Manchester United
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen, speaking to BT Sport, says: "A lot of things happened. We didn't really give them a game from the first minute and we gave them a lot of opportunities to finish us off.
"We lost a bit of our coolness, we made more mistakes than we do usually and the whole team could not catch up with mistakes our team-mates made.
"If you give away goals like we did, you lose, it's nothing to do with the atmosphere. Our own game was not strong enough. It's football, sometimes you have good days, sometimes you have bad days and it was a bad day. Luckily we have a game in four days.
"Every football player makes mistakes, they punished us straight away. It's how we bounce back and today we were not strong enough to bounce back from the mistakes.
"The mentality has to change, we know it will be a completely different opponent and different style so from tomorrow we will be focusing on Brighton."

ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/1440/cpsprodpb/7ADD/production/_129435413_daviddegeaandharrymcguire.jpgFormer Premier League goalkeeper Rob Green said "there wasn’t a flicker of any form of comeback" from Manchester United against Sevilla and added that the goals conceded across the two legs could have been avoided. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast, he said: "You go across the board with all five goals conceded across the two legs and they are avoidable. "The own goal of Harry Maguire was a bit of a freak incident - other than that they are avoidable. "You cannot play a tie against a team like Sevilla and gift them four goals. They gifted them another one which was disallowed for offside, so it could have been worse. "By the end of the game it could have been even more. Manchester United needed it to finish with 15 minutes to go, such was the performance. "There wasn’t a flicker of any form of comeback and you just hope, for their sake, it’s not affected the players. They are stretched and this is what they’ve got right now." ...................................................................................................................................................................... Manchester United's Europa League exit showed Erik ten Hag's side are still capable of poor performances, despite all the progress made this season. That's the view of United fan Scott Saunders from The Promised Land podcast, who spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily after Thursday's 3-0 defeat by Sevilla. He said: "I'm quite shocked, to be honest. I've seen it happen a few times this season. They have this kind of performance in them and we’ve seen really poor defeats seven to 10 times this season. "They just seem to come out of nowhere and, as good as United have been this season and as much progress as they have made, they are still very capable of dropping a performance like that. "I’m not entirely surprised, but I am speechless, to be honest. Erik ten Hag has some big decisions to make. I think we’ve seen enough of these players, and in the summer they have to be ruthless if they want to turn the page. "They don't need an overhaul, but they need an evolution. Some of these players just aren’t capable of playing the way Erik ten Hag wants." ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/21/9f17cc88-8209-402f-b9b4-7f51f7deea96.jpg....................................................................................................................................................................... 'United missed Fernandes massively'.. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/4/21/4117d5ff-f68e-4a97-9677-bd869ded32d1.jpgManchester United's midfield suffered without Bruno Fernandes in Sevilla, according to former Premier League forward Clinton Morrison. After receiving a yellow card in the first leg at Old Trafford, Fernandes was suspended and missed Thursday's 3-0 defeat in Spain. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast, Morrison said: "The midfield was nowhere near it and they did miss Bruno Fernandes. "He’s the one who puts his foot on the ball and is prepared to play those brave passes. A lot of people give Fernandes criticism because he moans non-stop, but do you know why? It’s because he sets high expectations of his team-mates. "I didn’t see one player having a go at any of their players and that is the one thing Bruno does do. "They missed him massively - not only what he does on the ball, but the way he talks and leads by example. Sometimes it can be a bit over the top and a lot of people complain about it, but they missed that against Sevilla."

THURSDAY 18th MAY 2023 - THE EUROPA LEAGUE - SEMI-FINALS - 2nd LEGS.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen 0 Roma 0 - (Agg: 0-1)ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/124C3/production/_129774947_805ac57812b2ec7850f3a76da76490be78ecd872.jpgJose Mourinho's Roma reached the Europa League final by holding Bayer Leverkusen to a goalless draw in the second leg of their semi-final tie. Edoardo Bove's goal gave the Italian side a 1-0 win in the first leg, and that was enough to take them through. Moussa Diaby struck the crossbar for Xabi Alonso's side in the first half of the second leg, but they could not find the breakthrough. Roma progress to the final in Budapest on 31 May. Mourinho has won all five of his previous five European finals, including last season's Europa Conference League with Roma. With a deficit to overturn, Leverkusen were on the front foot early on and Diaby came close to levelling the tie after being sent clear down the right, only for his fierce effort to rattle the bar and bounce clear. Kerem Demirbay saw his low shot saved by Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio soon after, while Leverkusen were furious when the referee waved play on when Sardar Azmoun appeared to be pulled down by Bryan Cristante just outside the box with just Patricio to beat. The home side continued to push forward in the second half with Azmoun dragging a shot just wide, but for all their territorial dominance they struggled to create any clear-cut chances. And so, after 31 years without a European final before last season, Roma can look forward to a second in as many years. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/5/19/69b3bd99-f5ce-4f9d-b511-4de5ab982c43.jpg...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Sevilla 2 (Fernández Sáenz de la Torre 71, Lamela 95, Acuna sent off 115) Juventus 1 (Vlahovic 65) - (Agg: 3-2)ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/655B/production/_129774952_gettyimages-1491351036.jpgSix-time winners Sevilla are through to a seventh Europa League final after their extra-time win over Juventus in a pulsating semi-final second leg. Dusan Vlahovic had put Juventus ahead, but Suso levelled the tie with a brilliant left-footed strike. The decisive goal came five minutes into extra time when Bryan Gil crossed for Erik Lamela to head home. Sevilla defender Marcos Acuna was sent off late on but the hosts held out and will face Roma in the final. After a steady opening, the game sprang into life midway through the first half with both goalkeepers called into action. Sevilla's Yassine Bounou kept out Federico Gatti's header at one end before Wojciech Szczesny superbly clawed Lucas Ocampos' diving header away at the other. Buonou then got the slightest of touches to tip Moise Kean's goalbound effort on to the far post after the Juventus striker's smart turn in the box and the half ended with Sevilla dismayed not to be awarded a penalty when Juan Cuadrado caught Oliver Torres with a flying challenge. The chances kept coming in the second half as Juve twice went close - Adrien Rabiot shooting wide after bursting clear before Bremer headed just past the post from Leandro Paredes' cross. Juventus took the lead on 65 minutes as Vlahovic brushed past a defender and finished with a clever dink just 58 seconds after coming on. Sevilla equalised six minutes later through their own substitute. Suso collected Lamela's pass, jinked away from his marker and lashed the ball into the corner from 20 yards. The hosts nearly won it in the last minute of normal time but Szczesny leapt to tip Youssef En-Nesyri's header over - although the Juve keeper could do nothing to deny Lamela in extra time. The visitors responded well as they hunted a goal to send the tie to penalties but Federico Chiesa blazed their best chance of extra time over the bar. Acuna was shown a second yellow card for time wasting five minutes from the end but Jose Luis Mendilibar's side stood firm and will now head to Budapest on 31st May as their remarkable run in this competition continues.

WEDNESDAY 31st MAY 2023EUROPA LEAGUE - FINAL - AT BUDAPEST'S PUSKAS ARENA.
Sevilla v Roma - 8pmichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/B450/production/_129906164_gettyimages-1258222449.jpgJose Mourinho could become the first manager to win the Europa League with three teams, having won the trophy with Porto in 2003 and Manchester United in 2017 Roma boss Jose Mourinho "respects" Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar's claim the Spanish side are favourites in Wednesday's Europa League final. Sevilla, record six-time winners, have never lost a Europa League final, while Mourinho has won all five European finals he has ever been involved in. "History does not play. My colleague thinks otherwise, I have respect for him," said Mourinho. "He believes that history makes Sevilla favourites, I respect that." He added: "We are in the final because we deserved to be, they have a history that we do not have. For them to play the final is a normal thing, for us it is an extraordinary event." The winners of the final at Budapest's Puskas Arena will play in next season's Champions League - their only hope of doing so. Neither team can finish in the top four of their league, while Sevilla - 11th in La Liga - could miss out on Europe entirely. Sevilla, who won the 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020 finals, were in relegation trouble until they appointed Mendilibar in March. The much-travelled 62-year-old has never won a major trophy - while Mourinho, 60, has won the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan, league titles and cups in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain, the Uefa Cup/Europa League with Porto and Manchester United, and last season's Europa Conference League with Roma. Mourinho said: "I have had more opportunities to play in European competitions, but Mendilibar is of the same generation as me, with the same white hair. We are on an equal footing. It's the same for the players: Sevilla have more experience, but we've been playing together for two years." Last week Mendilibar said: "I think that Sevilla will be favourites given we have won this competition six times. Some people prefer to look at the budgets of both sides, others look at their history. However you want to look at it, you can see both sides winning it. And I would not discount Sevilla. I see it 50-50." Sevilla midfielder Nemanja Gudelj told Uefa: "If somebody had told us at the beginning of the season that this would be the case [Sevilla being in the final], we wouldn't really have believed them. "Mendilibar has to be thanked for that. We've improved our overall style of play, we've started getting better results and we've started playing the way that Sevilla used to play a few years ago." Roma full-back Leonardo Spinazzola is available again after a muscle strain, while forwards Stephan El Shaarawy and Paulo Dybala should be fit too. Dybala might only be available to play 20 or 30 minutes, says Mourinho. Sevilla forwards Suso and Papu Gomez, who missed the game against Elche, were back training this week. Referee Anthony Taylor leads a team of English officials for the game. Michael Oliver is the fourth official and Stuart Attwell is the video assistant referee.

Europa League final: Jose Mourinho is Roma's Messiah, but is this farewell for the 'Special One'?..By Daniele Verri, Italian football journalist.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/4A1A/production/_129907981_gettyimages-1399448810.jpgRoma and the city of Rome are in a complete trance before the Europa League final in Budapest. This is due to the almost mystical relationship Jose Mourinho has built with both players and fans. Rome lives in a condition of mass hysteria since the 'Special One' landed in the Italian capital in July 2020. That was a coup de theatre of the finest art - no-one expected such a high calibre manager and such a character to return to Italy after his successes and controversial moments at previous club Inter Milan, least of all depressed Roma fans. Much has happened since then. Fourteen years after their last Coppa Italia title, Roma's captain Lorenzo Pellegrini lifted the Europa Conference League trophy to the Tirana sky last May, a first ever continental success for the club. Two months later, in front of an ecstatic crowd, superstar Paulo Dybala was unveiled during an emotional night. Mourinho has been the driving catalyst behind the commendable turnaround. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/12868/production/_129908857_gettyimages-1232739242.jpgMourinho has his own mural in in the Testaccio area of RomeThe city was waiting for a Messiah, Mourinho understood that and he's been feeding it with dreams and emotions for the past two years. People love his continuous critics against referees, the system and his own club, too weak and incapable of putting together a competitive team. He and his players won the Conference League and built a deep empathy with the fans. Roma supporters are extremely passionate by nature, but the last 15 inconsistent years, with the decline and departure of Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi, left a mark. Mourinho recreated a community and gave it an identity. Not many football characters can boast a mural in Italy, yet he has one in the Testaccio area, in which he rides his Vespa, a present of the Friedkin family he jealously guards at the Trigoria training centre. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/17688/production/_129908859_gettyimages-1252026307.jpgPaulo Dybala scored in the quarter-final win over FeyenoordRoma don't play attractive football, but can definitely fight and suffer. And Mourinho is to be judged on results, not his style of play. His side earned important wins when it came to it, at least in Europe, conceding one goal on home soil after the group stage. Results weren't as satisfying in the league, though. Roma rank sixth, like last year, and would be seventh without Juventus' 10-point deduction. If they beat Spezia next weekend, they will end up with 66 points, exactly like last season. This is surely not in line with their expectations; Roma have Serie A's third-highest payroll, behind only Juventus and Inter. The Giallorossi have lost 11 league games, five at home, and both derbies against Lazio. Champions League qualification, the club's ultimate goal which would bring around 50m Euros, can still be clinched via a win against Sevilla. Mourinho has put all his cards on this moment. ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/983A/production/_129907983_gettyimages-1399257498.jpgMourinho has won five European trophies in spells at Porto, Inter Milan, Manchester United and RomaIs this Mourinho's farewell ?Wednesday will also have a big impact on Mourinho's next steps. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/5/31/a1bd7bfd-c3b3-487d-bb6c-0c6a3f136d52.jpg"My future? I am focused on the final only. But with Roma and their fans, whatever happens, I will maintain a deep bond forever," he said. These words surely terrorise many in the city. Fans might not see him again at the Stadio Olimpico; after receiving a trivial booking against Fiorentina last weekend, he will miss the final Serie A game against Spezia. Knowing his taste for drama, has he chosen the Puskas Arena as a stage to wave everyone farewell? This happened at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2010, straight after winning the Champions League final against Bayern Munich with Inter. Mourinho didn't even return to Italy, instead immediately joining Real Madrid. Despite having signed a deal until 2024, Mourinho knows all too well that "contracts have a peculiar validity in football", and if a club like Paris-Saint Germain or Real Madrid knocked on Roma's door, they would let him go. The focus now is on Budapest and then he will hold talks. He will want the club to guarantee a competitive squad for potential Champions League football, and club representatives will want him to stop criticising Roma. "Reaching the Champions League with this squad would not only have been a miracle, it would have been like Jesus having a stroll at the Vatican," he said recently. Is there room for a compromise? It's difficult to say, but it's the only way to build a common future. Otherwise Roma and their shaman will part ways.

Two of Sevilla's six Europa League finals to date have gone to penalties. No Jose Mourinho European final has ever gone to penalties. It's mostly been Sevilla in extra time so far but they've not done loads with it. Suso has a shot blocked by Nemanja Matic and he fouls the Roma midfielder to stop him taking it forward. Jose Mourinho is chatting to a couple of Roma subs. Changes soon? Sevilla still on the ball. Still Sevilla dominating the ball, but just in midfield. ichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/5/31/f383c24c-d9f8-4a43-b838-6077c64287f7.jpgichef.bbci.co.uk/live-experience/cps/624/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2023/5/31/631521e7-4836-495d-8984-e0bd104c2509.jpgRoma's sixth yellow card of the game as substitute Nicola Zalewski pulls back a Sevilla player. 105 mins - INJURY TIME - Sevilla 1-1 Roma Two minutes added on. That really was a dreadful 15 minutes. Subs and a yellow card, I think that was it. Both managers give mini team talks on the pitch. Jose Mourinho has some kind of graphics print-out. Double Roma change. Stephan El Shaarawy and Diego Llorente are on for Leonardo Spinazzola and Lorenzo Pellegrini KICK-OFF - Sevilla 1-1 Roma - The 2nd and final half of extra-time begins.
