All 4 sentenced to 40+ years each for the girls murder, apparently they wanted to kill her boyfriend who was on a night out when the shooting happened, he was uncooperative with the Police and has been in Dubai since.... I was only just reading all about this case a minute from reading this...yes, justice, but as always no sentence can rid the families of their pain. Very true,my old neighbours son was murdered and they never recovered from their grief, they kept their sons dog and when the dog died years later they were devastated again. I read that the father of victim in the Liverpool shooting had already had a son murdered with a shotgun ! I listened to a Radio 4 series on executions by lethal injection in the USA,the mother of one victim in an horrific double murder attended the killers execution, she was unhappy because he just went to sleep and didnt suffer like his victims did, she did stick posters of the 2 murdered victims on the perspex screens so that they were the last images that the murderer saw.

Oscar Pistorius to go free after 9 years in prison for Reeva Steenkamp murder..By Ryan Merrifield & Rachel Hagan, News Reporters.Double amputee Olympian Oscar Pistorius, 37, was jailed for the murder of model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp 29, on Valentine's Day 2013 - who he claimed he mistook for an intruder. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article31488507.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/1_Oscar-Pistorius-and-his-girlfriend-Reeva-Steenkamp.jpgOscar Pistorius will be freed imminently, a decade after he murdered his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, after a parole hearing in South Africa. The Olympian and double amputee has been in a South African prison since he was found guilty of the manslaughter of his model girlfriend on Valentine's Day 2013. Pistorius, now 37, claimed he thought Ms Steenkamp was an intruder and that shooting her four times was a mistake. He was sentenced to 13 years and five months in custody after his conviction was upgraded to murder - he was originally jailed for just five years. though this was later increased. Pistorius has since made multiple bids for parole, which have been rejected. However, he was granted a second chance at parole at a hearing in Johannesburg earlier this week, after being wrongly ruled ineligible for early release in March. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article29203560.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/0_South-African-Paralympian-Oscar-Pistoriu.jpgSerious offenders in South Africa must serve at least half their sentence before they are eligible for parole. The Supreme Court of Appeal eventually ruled in 2017 that Pistorius should serve South Africa's minimum sentence of 15 years for murder, but took into account the year and seven months he had already served for culpable homicide when it delivered his new sentence. However, the court made an error by not counting another period Pistorius had served while his murder sentence was being appealed, meaning he was in fact eligible for parole in March when he was told at his first hearing that he would only be eligible in August 2024. Pistorius' lawyers took his case to the country's apex Constitutional Court, earning him a new hearing today in recognition of the appeal court's error. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article29601022.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/0_FILES-SAFRICA-COURT-CRIME-PISTORIUS.jpgSteenkamp’s killing happened when Pistorius was at the height of his fame and just months after he had become the first double-amputee to compete at the Olympics in 2012. He was also a multiple Paralympic sprinting champion and one of the sport’s most marketable figures, having overcome the amputation of both his legs below the knee as a baby to run on specially designed carbon-fibre blades. Pistorius was revealed to have been a gun fanatic who once fired a gun in a restaurant and had 10 weapons, including an AK-47. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article31488506.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200d/1_FILE-Oscar-Pistoriuss-Jail-Sentence-Has-Been-Increased-By-A-South-African-Court-To-13-years-Fiv.jpgAt his murder trial, he claimed he shot Steenkamp, 29, by mistake with his licensed 9mm pistol because he believed she was a dangerous intruder hiding in his bathroom in the middle of the night. Pistorius has not been seen for nearly a decade, although there have been occasional glimpses of his time in prison. He sustained an injury in an altercation with another inmate over a prison telephone in 2017. A year earlier, he received treatment for injuries to his wrists, which his family denied were a result of him harming himself and said were instead caused by him falling in his cell.

Hackney shooting: Woman killed and two wounded..By Sean Seddon & Nick Johnson in Hackney, BBC News.images.ctfassets.net/go68aep20o4s/4jz1m0w7o5SJwhmBxk7oMs/817e6a9f12c66372eed4fdad1302c958/SHOOTING_NO_STRAPS.jpg?w=938&q=80&fm=jpgA woman has died and a man and teenage boy have been wounded in a shooting in east London. The woman, 42, died at the scene and the 20-year-old man and boy, 16, were taken to hospital. The shooting happened in Vine Close - which is in a small housing development in a quiet, residential part of Hackney - at about 6.30pm on Tuesday. The Metropolitan Police has launched a murder inquiry. No arrests have been made. Inquiries are ongoing to establish the motive, the force added. Det Supt Vicky Tunstall said it was a "shocking" incident and appealed for witnesses, adding that officers would remain at the scene in the coming days. "I do not underestimate the impact this incident will have on people in Hackney and I understand the community will want answers about what has happened this evening. We will share further information as our investigation progresses," she said. "Gun crime has no place on the streets of London and we will do all we can to bring whoever is responsible for this despicable crime to justice." The Met said officers were in the process of informing the female victim's next of kin. The conditions of the man and boy are being assessed.

Apart from Police spokesmen is anyone "shocked" at these events any more ? disgusted yes but they are so commonplace that they cant be described as shocking. "Gun crime has no place on the streets of London" sadly that isnt true, gun crime is often on the streets of London...and Liverpool and other cities in Britain.

UNLV shooting: Police respond to active shooting on Las Vegas campus..By Nadine Yousif, BBC News.dynaimage.cdn.cnn.com/cnn/digital-images/org/b0707727-a453-40cc-b18f-abf2d847d138.jpgPolice in Las Vegas said they are responding to an active shooter alert at the Las Vegas campus of the University of Nevada. They said there appeared to be "multiple victims at this time" near the university's Beam Hall building. The university tweeted at around 11:53 local time (19:53 GMT) that police were responding to reports of shots fired on campus. Las Vegas police subsequently said the suspect "had been located" and is dead. In a post on social media, the university had initially warned students at Beam Hall to "evacuate to a safe area" and to "RUN-HIDE-FIGHT", which is a commonly known active shooter protocol in the US. In another post around 20 minutes later, it alerted students to reports of shots near the Student Union building. White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said the White House was monitoring the situation as law enforcement responded.

Hackney shooting: Boy charged over Lianne Gordon killing..By Jess Warren, BBC News.A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a woman who was shot in Hackney, east London. Lianne Gordon, 42, died at the scene of the attack outside a home in Lower Clapton on Tuesday evening. The 16-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Friday and charged on Saturday. He was also charged with the attempted murder of a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy. He is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on 11th December. ............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ Although Shootings and Stabbings no longer shock us, anyone can get hold of a knife, but a 16 year-old and a gun not quite so easy, is it ?

3 more scumbags found guilty of attempted murder, they shot two children in a park one of whom was an 11 year old girl.
In answer to your question BT, it is much easier to find a knife capable of causing horrific wounds or causing death than it is to find a gun..... However think of all the drugs that are smuggled into the country on lorries, even people hiding in lorries and being smuggled in,now think how small a package a pistol is,what if every thousandth or even ten thousandth lorry entering the country has a pistol or worse a machine pistol.....over 1.3 million lorries entering Britain per year...criminals finding a firearm is probably easier than we would like it to be.

Man dies in shooting outside Granton pub before New Year bells..news.stv.tv/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/b96cc9ea4846a91c0994b1cc7f469d53-1704116218-1120x720.jpeg At around 11.50pm on Sunday, officers were called to reports that a firearm was discharged on Granton Crescent, near the Anchor Inn.A 38-year-old man has died after a shooting outside an Edinburgh pub before the New Year bells. Police were called to reports of two men being seriously injured at the Anchor Inn on West Granton Road at about 23:50 on Sunday. The 38-year-old was pronounced dead a short time later, while a 39-year-old man is in hospital in a serious but stable condition. Police Scotland said it was treating the attack as murder. Det Supt Graham Grant said: "Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of both men involved. "Inquiries are at a very early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened, and while officers have already gathered CCTV and spoken to various people who were in the area at the time, I'd urge anyone with information who hasn't yet spoken to us to come forward. "In particular if anyone has private CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam of the Granton Crescent/Road area around the time of the incident, please bring it to our attention." Supt Grant added: "This incident will undoubtedly have caused concern in the local community and officers will be carrying out extra patrols of the area and I'd like to reassure the public that everything possible is being done to trace whoever is responsible."
