Here’s Cup Final no.8 and looking at the league table it looks easy, however Carlisle like the Gas have won five of their last six.
That said the Scots have three players out including their captain, whereas we have Luca, James C and Maradona all available.
So no excuses Gas keep the faith and make it just the one defeat in eleven match's

I don't know if the Cumbrians are at full strength, but their current form is excellent.
We had better be wearing our best boots today or we may be for 'the high jump'!

Stats - We have played Carlisle 38 times, W 15, D 9 & L 13, We have won 5-2, 4-0 & Lost 4-0, 4-2, all the draws have been 0-0 or 1-1.
Carlisle were founded in 1896 as Shaddongate United, Carlisle have played at Brunton Park since 1909 which has a capacity of 17,949.
Manager Paul Simpson was born in Carlise 5 days before the World Cup Final of 1966, has played for them and now is in his 2nd spell at the helm.
Carlisle's record win is 8-0 v Hartlepool and loss is 1-11 v Hull City, Record goal-scorer is Jimmy McConnell with 126 goals 1928-32.
This is a tough game today of the division's top 2 form teams, we will nick it by the odd goal IMO.

I’ve only done Carlisle once , as it’t a bloody long way from Bristol and only a few miles from ‘See You Jimmy’ land.
If memory serves me right a long haired Justin Skinner scored for the Gas.
I am anticipating a healthy away support today and can expect a few hundred Expat’s to boost the numbers.

Wayne Carlisle always scored against Carlisle.
I think our momentum should be too much for Carlisle but any team has that ability to score fluke goals at the start then shut up shop.
Nicholson is back. He’ll be on the bench but he’s always a threat coming on with twenty minutes to go.
Come in Rovers!!

Listening to home commentary on iFollow they very complimentary of us. I think we have played well, hopefully they will tire given how much possession we have had.

Excellent performance so far - all that is missing is a goal. Need to watch overlaps especially on the left - Belly made one excellent save from one of these. Totally bossing midfield but just a bit more composure or even someone trying a shot from a bit further out. Connor Taylor absolutely immense and so assured. Big shout out to the unsung Harry Anderson who is always excellent wherever he plays and Luca Hoole having another good game. Enjoyable game too and sun is shining what’s not to like?

Very disappointed about the result, I feel sick right now...
We are still in a strong position, in the playoffs and only three points off the automatic positions with seven games to go.
This season is going down to the wire, plenty of ups and downs to come.
Keep the faith Gas!

Didn't deserve that. Their goal looked like all the breaks went for them but in truth we didn't create enough in second half. We traded control of midfield for a bit more attacking flair when taking Whelan and Coutts off and I think the changes affected our shape a bit. Lively cameo from Thomas and an agonising miss at the end. Deserved a point. Ref was excellent up to the last 10 mins then totally lost control allowing lots of time wasting and dirty fouls. Enjoyable afternoon despite the result

Given he flashed his yellow card a number of times what else could the ref do to stop the fouls, given none of the challenges warranted a red?
Time wasting seems to be getting out of control generally in football, just look at how times a physio is needed before a goal his scored in a match, and then afterwards.

Two very good , in form sides slugging it out like two prize fighter’s in a match that could have gone either way . Gas for long stretch’s controlled the game but , unfortunately left their ‘shooting boots’ back down the M32 M5 and M6
With 21 points still to play for, this team are way to good , arguably the most fluent, committed and talented group of players ever to wear the blue and white quarters.
To miss out on one of the coveted automatic slots, could threaten some of the more mature supporters heart issues, as todays ‘cup final no.8 has confirmed that by making the playoffs nothings guaranteed. UTGUB
