Seemed to me that he was booking ours not theirs when they were chopping us down to spoil things. Not sure what Taylor did to earn a yellow other than the crime of being fouled. Can’t say I blame them - we would have done the same if one nil up . Hadn't been particularly fractious till then apart from Anderson claiming that he had been elbowed

Two very good , in form sides slugging it out like two prize fighter’s in a match that could have gone either way . Gas for long stretch’s controlled the game but , unfortunately left their ‘shooting boots’ back down the M32 M5 and M6 With 21 points still to play for, this team are way to good , arguably the most fluent, committed and talented group of players ever to wear the blue and white quarters. To miss out on one of the coveted automatic slots, could threaten some of the more mature supporters heart issues, as todays ‘cup final no.8 has confirmed that by making the playoffs nothings guaranteed. UTGUB This team has now bottled it on two occasions recently. They needed a win against a team in 18th who were without three key players to have a chance of moving into the top 3. Echoes of the Newport game, when the team had the opportunity to move into the top seven and turned in a deeply underwhelming and uninspiring performance. Compare this with the Trollope and Clarke promotion teams, who won when they had to and showed real guts and character in doing so. I'm sticking with my original prediction of 10th.

Stats - Carlisle 1 BRFC 0 - 34 % - 66 % - Shots 15-18 - On Target 5-7 - Corners 2-11 - Fouls 8-9 - Yellows 4-2 - Reds 0-0 - Referee Andy Haines - Attendance 5,884.
Match Report
Paul Simpson's remarkable Carlisle revival continued with a 1-0 win over promotion-chasing Bristol Rovers.
Joey B*****'s on-song side had won four games on the bounce, and eight of their last 10, to pile the pressure on the top three.
But Kristian Dennis' 72nd-minute winner sent Rovers down to sixth as the Cumbrians secured an impressive sixth win in seven since Simpson's return to Brunton Park.
The hosts started well with Brennan Dickenson's header saved by James Belshaw before Jordan Gibson hit the post.
Dennis also had an effort ruled out for offside after 15 minutes before Mark Howard did well to keep out Elliot Anderson.
After the break, Howard produced a top save to tip Sam Finley's strike over.
Not to be outshone, Belshaw somehow kept out a dangerous Dennis strike just after the hour.
But the striker was not to be denied a deserved goal and he was in the right place at the right time to slot home the rebound after Gibson's effort was blocked with 18 minutes left.
Morgan Feeney cleared James Connolly's header off the line to secure the points.

Worthy of a point at least and the better team lost. I think we will end up 4th with an outside chance of an automatic place

Losing against Carlisle today wasn’t bottling it. Win against Bradford and the table flips around again. We’ve got form and momentum broken up by the odd defeat because we aren’t Man City. Top 7 seemed ridiculous before Christmas, top 3 is just 3 points away now. All to play for Gas

It looked a difficult one on paper and it proved to be.
"Twists and turns".
Everything to play for.

I can't believe anyone who watched that game could say we bottled it, we played really well and confident in every department apart from the scoring one Every team in the world has those days and hopefully that is ours over and done with and we can return to winning form against all our promotion rivals

They made one change from their previous game according to the commentators, they are top of the form league. We lost at Carlisle under DC about the same time in our promotion season. We have just beaten the team in third place away from home.

Didn't deserve that. Their goal looked like all the breaks went for them but in truth we didn't create enough in second half. We traded control of midfield for a bit more attacking flair when taking Whelan and Coutts off and I think the changes affected our shape a bit. Lively cameo from Thomas and an agonising miss at the end. Deserved a point. Ref was excellent up to the last 10 mins then totally lost control allowing lots of time wasting and dirty fouls. Enjoyable afternoon despite the result Tell me, what do we deserve then, please ?

A bit unfair to say we bottled it, even the very good promotion sides of Trollope & Clarke lost 14 & 13 games respectively.

Enjoyable afternoon despite the result Tell me, what do we deserve then, please ? Based on that performance alone, worthy of a point at least. Had we taken our chances when right on top we would have won it. We didn't and one goal was always going to settle that game which unfortunately went their way. First half was as good an away performance as i can remember minus the goals. Second half less so, but we've won plenty of games playing much worse than that.

Will not make play off berth A month ago I would have agreed with you, but we have momentum, and do have some really good players who are capable of that little bit of magic that all teams need to win games, and the effort is there. I think we are a bit soft at either end of the pitch but Taylor makes a massive difference and we are tighter at the back. We haven't totally clicked as a team in the games I have seen - if we do then I think someone is going to get a right drubbing. Personal view is that we'll make the play offs and have an outside chance of automatics but as this is Rovers, who knows? ? Whether or not we are good enough to go up - again who knows, but momentum is everything at this stage of the season and it looks like we may have it at exactly the right time. I also think despite our recent form that B***** is a crap manager, will continue to think this even if we get promoted, and wish he had never been associated with us. The run of form is in my view mostly down to having a settled side, making minimal changes each week and 3 experienced winners in midfield (Coutts, Whelan and Finley) who I think are the strength of the team. Hoping we can hang on to Evans and Taylor but am certain Elliott Anderson will be plying his trade at a higher level than us next season.

I base my view further up, as you say this is Rovers, we are competing and getting good crowds. It’s cheaper to be in this league and our support is very good , for this level. I do not think the owner has the ambition to go higher. Just my opinion , oh and B***** is all you say. Very good post btw
