John Joseph Lydon was born in Holloway, London, England in January 1956. Lydon is better known as Johnny Rotten and was the lead singer of the Sex Pistols. Rotten fronted the punk rock band from 1978 until 1978 and then for reunions in the 1990s and 2000s.
The band's only studio album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols was released in 1977 and hit #1 on the UK charts. Their most popular songs include "God Save the Queen", "Anarchy in the U.K. and "C'mon Everybody".
The band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 but refused to attend the ceremony.
From 1978 to 1993 Rotten was the lead singer of the band Public Image Ltd. The band has released nine studio albums and their 1989 single "Disappointed" hit #1 on the US Alternative chart.
Lydon has turned down an MBE for his contributions to music. He was named one of the 100 Greatest Britons in 2002.

C'mon Everybody was Sidney singing and not what you would think of the Pistols.Agreed,nothing special. The Pistols 45s were Anarchy,Pretty Vacant,Holidat8in the Sun and God Save the Queen. Good to hear from a fellow fan, i was just a bit to young when they 1st come on the scene, but i have bought, played & read everything to death since, in the last 20 years. Went to see them at the IOW Festival in 2008, other headliners were The Police and The Kaiser Chiefs, along with The Kooks, Iggy, Stranglers & Ian Brown, a no brainer. Steve Jones is so underrated as a guitarist and the same for the brilliant Drummer Paul Cook, Johnny is Johnny, they broke the mould into a 1000 pieces with him. My favourite Pistols track is Pretty Vacant. Not forgetting Glen ay BT. He came up with many of the riffs. I thought the video of Pretty Vacant,done for TOTP,excellent. There'll Always Be an England the dvd by the pistols is a mix of the 5 gigs at Brixton, a great dvd with superb extras, Johnny takes us on a tour bus around London. What i like about John is his honesty, he always credited ALL of the band members with the creation of their songs, a shame Gary Kemp could not do similar. Correct a mundo - they were truely a life changing band. |

It must have been Friday the 9th of November for the gig and Saturday the 10th for a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup 1st round v Orient (3-3 in the replay, won 6-5 on pens) Yep,football was the next day,so not the first of the Brixton gigs.Good because they get better after a gig or two. Fair play,yes,I think it was a Cup game and I think a Memorial Service was held at Brisbane Road. |

Saw them at the "Filthy Lucre" reunion at Finsbury Park 1996. Best gig, I`ve been to. That band got so much stick but they were brilliant. When you are a pioneer in anything but especially music there is always resistance, the Pistols and a few others were the frontrunners of the movement that became Punk. Jimmy Jimmy, My Perfect Cousin, Wednesday Week and Here comes the Summer were all good high energy songs. |
