Sam Finley and Leon Clarke are back in with a chance of selection and I'll be surprised if the former does'nt start. Also maybe Glenn Whelan, to add some competitive bite and sensible distribution.
Ben Garners team are right amongst the promotion race.He said at the start of his Swindon job ,that he had 'learnt alot' at Bristol Rovers and going by Towns great season so far (all things considered),we can take him on his word.
I think it'll be a super football match.
ACHTUNG! 1300 kick off.
Come on Rovers!

Ive got no doubt BG wanted to succeed here, and gave his all to our cause.
But I would never want him back here.
The position we are in today - being a L2 club is down to this man...Don't get me wrong, PT and our current boss played their part also, as did the owner. But BG is our worst manager ever in terms of stats, lack of passion and for how he broke up a team 3rd/4th in L1 at Christmas when he should have just ran with it.
He was clueless while here, and I've got nothing good to say about him as a manager apart from thanks for your efforts.. and tbf he does seem like a decent guy.
Mr Barton has his haters and I can see why, but he walked into a cluster f**k when he joined us.No he didn't 'help us' in staying up by giving up, but even then, I could see what he was trying to do through his words.
He has a looooooong way to go here, but with the type of player he has brought in this summer in terms of both ,quality and effort.. you can see what Mr Barton is "trying" to do.
I personally see a good 2nd half of this season for us and a playoff push, will that be good enough. Probably not.

from someone at the other place...
'You have to say, good job done by the "negligent" Garner, who only joined 17 days before the new season with Swindon having only 8 contracted players at the club. Compare that to Barton who had all summer to get it right and left it late in the window to sign 2 strikers with the combined age of nearly 70 and no natural right wing back for a system that relies on the position'

I personally think JB has brought some quality players in to our club, but it's only now that he looks like he is starting to get the best out of them.

We have played Swindon Town in 101 games, Winning 38, Losing 47 with 16 Draws.
Swindon's only season in the prem was in 1993-4, finished bottom and conceded exactly 100 goals.
That season in the prem they had Steve White & Andy Thomson in the squad.
They have won the league cup in 1969, beating Arsenal 3-1, Bobby Gould scored for the Gunners.
Swindon's main rivals are Oxford, with less fierce enemies in both Bristol clubs, Reading, Cheltenham & Newport.
Ben Garner and Steve Mildenhall were previous employees of BRFC, with the goalkeeper playing over 100 games.
John Trollope played all his career for Swindon in 889 games spanning 20 seasons, a record never to be beaten IMO.

Good pal of mine is from Swindon. He isn't too confident as he says they're not too good at home. Hope he's right.

Exactly Bas, they made em tough in those days, that's 40 odd games every season for 20 seasons for his only club, John even broke his arm in august 1968 ending a run of 368 consecutive matches, he returned in january 1969 and went on to play in the league cup final at wembley winning v Arsenal. Born and bred in Swindon, he also managed the 1st team, assistant to Lou Macari, took charge of the youth's and U15's, a true true legend of Swindon Town FC.

Nick Anderton, decent player that shows the strength of our squad.
He played very well throughout the injury/Covid crisis but went back to the bench on the return of players,eg Josh Grant.
I imagine our former Carlisle United Club Captain might be close to getting a game.
Competition for places.👍

Terry Paine of Southampton, played over 800 games in 18 seasons for the Saints

Hoole and Connelley start at the back with Taylor. Not an experienced, or tried and tested, backline
Evans, Collins and Loft at the front

Average age of our defence is apparently 20 years and 6 months.
Matters not to me,team game and all that. Coutts and Finley will also defend.
Come on Rovers!
