I'm feeling a wee bit concerned about Ryan Lofts heading ability.I don't think I saw one headed goal from Lofty on YT highlights. Is he going to challenge centre halfs in the air,a la Devon White eg?His positional sense, shooting etc looked good,so hopefully given heading chances he'll provide.
Returning injured players may be available to Joe ,so that's good.I think Finlay is still suspended.
The 'Monkey Hangers' are a couple of places above us in the bottom half of the division. Rovers are now 9 points off the playoffs.

I am genuinely excited for the run in (which kind of starts tomorrow).
There are no excuses now, we need to be showing promotion form from this point on, starting with a win against Hartlepool.
A few wins in a row and we will be knocking on the playoff door.
On the flip side, a few defeats / draws in a row and our season is over.

Yes, you got it I believe that Fly Fishing by J R didn't really exist when they first made the advert, but it was so successful that someone then wrote it and sold loads! Might be a non-urban myth tho

We have played Hartlepool 24 times, Won 9, D7 & L8, We have won 4-1 twice & 0-3, also losing 4-0, last game at home to them we won 4-1 on 01.03.2016 (Taylor hat-trick).
The Monkey Hangers nickname - According to local folklore, the term originates from an incident in which a monkey was hanged in the town of Hartlepool, England.
During the Napoleonic Wars, a French chasse-marée was wrecked in a storm off the coast of Hartlepool. The only survivor from the ship was a monkey, allegedly dressed in a French Army uniform to provide amusement for the crew.
On finding the monkey on the beach, a group of locals decided to hold an impromptu trial. Because the monkey was unable to answer their questions, and because they had seen neither a monkey nor a Frenchman before, they concluded that the monkey must be a French spy.
Being found guilty, the animal was duly sentenced to death and summarily hanged on the beach.
Hartlepool play at Victoria Park (The Suit Direct Stadium) and has a capacity of 7,858.
Manager Graeme Lee played for Hartlepool, Sheff.Wed, Doncaster, Bradford, Notts.Co in a 17 year playing career.
Famous fans are Jeff Stelling, Phil Middlemiss, Christopher Timothy, Meatloaf & Janick Gers of Iron Maiden.
Main Rivals are Darlington, Sheff.Wed, Carlisle & Sunderland.
On 20 October 2007, Hartlepool United announced that Michael Maidens had died in a road traffic accident. He was a passenger in a vehicle which lost control and collided with a metal post near a roundabout on the A174 near Lazenby, North Yorkshire at 20.25 hours on 19 October 2007.
Hartlepool retired Maidens' number 25 shirt. Hartlepool United later named their Goal of the Season Award 'The Michael Maidens Goal of the Season Award' in honour of Maidens scoring Hartlepool's Goal of the Season in 2006.

I remember when match threads started on the day of the match. I always think I’ve missed a game when I log in and see this thread. Could it just be started on the day of the game? Pretty please?

James or Anssi?
A goalkeeping conundrum for Joe.
James will play today,I think we can be sure of that.
I think he's done a great job for Rovers!
When was the last time we had two good GKs plus a good young one coming along?
James or Anssi,I have confidence in both.

As players comeback from injury and a couple of new signings settle in,i won't call todays game a "must win".
What I mean is any promotion chance we have will not be finished if we get beat.
Having 'said' that, it will be very frustrating if we're actually more than 9 points off the play offs come 1700.
Today I'll have an eye on Lofty. In the scenario he fits in and is an effective CF it could make the difference between an 8th or 7th place finish. Can he head the ball?
Defensively we must improve and personally I think Anssi' experience can help out ,although I think James will play today.Like JCH had,I think our Finnish GK has presence. You know he's about, you can rely on him and if you've any sense you'll listen to him.Anssi back in goal could be a major boost to our season.
Looking forward to it!
Rovers are on the up!

and the "stelling" phrase....[sky soccer saturdays " of "if Hartlepool can keep Lambert away from the goal we should be OK"..... just 10 seconds later he was muttering.....and just when it seemed all was well.. Lambert has scored again ***** making it 3-0 ...bringing cries of laughter from those around him in the studio

Yes, I think we are on the up, at least I hope so and tbh it wouldn’t take much, compared to the last two years, to be ‘on the up’. 2020 and 2021 have been awful years. Depending on what you mean when you say “must win”. To carry on where we are in lower mid table no it’s not a must win game and if we lose we’ll just meander around where we are. But if we have aspirations to threaten the play off places or even third place and have a crack at promotion then I’d say it was a must win game. If we want to do that we must start winning and keep winning to close the gap that has grown in the first half. No excuses, we need to win if play offs are a serious challenge. Imo of course. 😉 UTG!

Yes,I see your point Wareham, but eg if we draw 0 0 today, but with sure signs of good form, then win our next 2 games, that's lovely.
