Exciting new line up I’m not sure to be honest. Whose helping Couts do the dirty stuff in midfield to help build our platform? 3 at back. Depends on a bit of pressing. Attachment Deleted

Like we are playing a team one or two divisions above us.
See what Bas says later.

Will 101 points be enough to go up?

On paper so far we have had a bad season - lower mid table, big budget and with all the Joey hate. But with our games in hand and the slow swing in results ( which there clearly has been ) I really do feel that we could do something this year.
I had the same gut feeling in 2007 at Cardiff after the JTP final loss and then 6 weeks later Trolls and Lenny took us up.
I sadly felt the same feeling in 2014 when we went down, and in 2015 and 2016 when we went up.
I very much hope I'm right again.

87 minutes of dross, followed by five minutes of magic. I`ll take that. Belshaw was ( deservedly ) voted m o t m. Says a lot. It was daylight robbery.

As players comeback from injury and a couple of new signings settle in,i won't call todays game a "must win". What I mean is any promotion chance we have will not be finished if we get beat. Having 'said' that, it will be very frustrating if we're actually more than 9 points off the play offs come 1700.Today I'll have an eye on Lofty. In the scenario he fits in and is an effective CF it could make the difference between an 8th or 7th place finish. Can he head the ball? Defensively we must improve and personally I think Anssi' experience can help out ,although I think James will play today.Like JCH had,I think our Finnish GK has presence. You know he's about, you can rely on him and if you've any sense you'll listen to him.Anssi back in goal could be a major boost to our season. Looking forward to it! Rovers are on the up! We are exactly 9 points off the play-off's at 17.00pm. Stats: BFRC 2 Hartlepool 0 - 45 % to 55 % - Shots 14-11 - On Target 3-3 - Corners 2-12 - Fouls 15-13 - Yellows 2-4 - Reds 0-1 - Position in Table 16th - 17th.

Funny old game.
A theory (after the event).
We have some quality in attack.Collins battled and ran at the Pool defence.Evans free kicks are a major threat.Etc.
So as long as we don't concede,we have a reasonable chance of winning games.
That theory worked out today, but it took a great performance from James Belshaw, with our defending all too often a tad desperate. One moment saw the United bench take a step forward in anticipation of a 'certain goal',celebrations about to begin only for 'Belly' to produce a fantastic goal line save.
Somehow we managed to not concede, then take the spotlight Messrs Collins and Evans. The latters free kick looked perfection.
I suspected pregame with many changes in selection,we may not shine.
Played below par,but won. A good sign.
Wait till we have a good game!👍

Stats and Match Report: BFRC 2 Hartlepool 0 - 45 % to 55 % - Shots 14-11 - On Target 3-3 - Corners 2-12 - Fouls 15-13 - Yellows 2-4 - Reds 0-1 - Position in Table 16th - 17th.
Late strikes from Aaron Collins and Antony Evans gave Bristol Rovers a League Two victory over Hartlepool at the Memorial Stadium.
Striker Collins connected perfectly with a right-footed shot after the visitors failed to clear a left-wing cross after 87 minutes and saw the ball rocket into the roof of the net from 10 yards.
Hartlepool's misery was complete when defender Jamie Sterry was sent off in stoppage time for a foul on Collins which denied a clear scoring opportunity.
Evans blasted home the resulting free-kick from just outside the box to leave the visitors with nothing to show for being the better side.
Rovers goalkeeper James Belshaw made several second-half saves, the best being a reaction stop from substitute Mark Cullen's 80th-minute volley.
A scrappy first half saw Hartlepool have a 12th-minute penalty appeal rejected when Cian Harries appeared to foul Gavan Holohan while Marcus Carver shot wide from their best chance.
Rovers' best first-half effort was a shot from Collins, which flashed wide.
Attendance: 7,004.

James or Anssi? A goalkeeping conundrum for Joe. James will play today,I think we can be sure of that. I think he's done a great job for Rovers! When was the last time we had two good GKs plus a good young one coming along? James or Anssi,I have confidence in both. There is no debate in my mind. James Belshaw is our number one goalkeeper and he has been simply outstanding all year long.
Today he was first class, and thoroughly deserved his Man Of The Match award.
If it was not for James Belshaw we would have lost this game 3-0 and the conversation this evening would be very different.
Hartlepool deserved to win this game comfortably, we had no right to take all three points today. For 80 minutes we witnessed a disjointed, flat performance. We looked like a group of strangers, very much like the early part of the season. It was very much looking like yet another draw, but this team have something about them and keep fighting to the end.
Two late goals and we all go home with smiles on our faces. Exactly what we needed today. Poor performance but I do not care. We have another three points and the long climb up the table has begun.
UTG.
