Not strictly Gas related, but I see everyone's favourite pantomime villain (after a certain J. Barton) has been sacked by Gillingham.
Shame.

Forgive my naive knowledge of him but what has he done to be so hated. I know he argues the toss but I don’t know of any convictions. Seems to be a marmite guy on this and others forums

He avoided prison on a suspended sentence iirc after being found guilty of fraudulently helping Boston United FC to gain promotion to the football league at the expense of Dagenham and Redbridge. It was a big case at the time and because it was planned and orchestrated it came to the authorities attentions. UTG!

To add to the above, his assistant Paul Raynor is almost as foul-mouthed and intimidating as Evan’s tries to be. Being behind him on the terrace is an education and when he was with Rotherham In Feb ‘13, I watched with amusement his antics at the Mem. John Ward was almost as amused as us, he just watched and shook his head as Evans and Raynor abused and verbally assaulted the officials, our players who got close and even us stood behind him. Mind you, perhaps the crowd shouldn’t have offered him burgers and sausages and called him a large gentleman! (My words). 😉
UTG!

Yes, I stand behind the dugouts, and it's a revelation. With him it was a nonstop barrage of criticism at the officials, which surely must have had some effect.

Ah, Evans. What a monumental twat.
He's almost as ridiculous as Farage. A man who's spent decades trying to deport east Europeans and is now campaigning to stop Australia from deporting an East European.
Anyway, UTG.

I thought Nigel Farage was concerned at the uncontrolled immigration from Europe in general when the EU took away our ability to control who came into our country. I got the impression that he objected to the huge number from Eastern Europe who came here to take advantage of our generous welfare system and voiced concern on behalf of the beleaguered tax payer. I must admit his attempts at mass deportation passed me by. Thanks for clearing that up.

Why do you think the orange loon paraded him, like some puppet. As for the mass migration, i can only talk of the Polish and Lithuanians i know and they refuse to ask for benefits as it takes their pride from them. The mrs and her family work ridiculously long hours, on 0 hours contacts, they came to work and not sit around. Obviously there will be the odd exception but even the government felt it right to publish the money they have paid into the country, now we have staff shortages as the indigenous population either won’t take the job or, if they do, they don’t last long. By the looks of it we are going to be in for a bumpy ride, for everyone. No room for pride, i have no idea of the level of debt this pandemic has brought but the piper will be paid

Even 0 hour contracts for rubbish money and having to work every waking hour God sends. This makes me think there can be no work in these EU countries. You know, the wonderful, wonderful EU Utopia where the streets are paved with gold and the rivers flow with milk and honey (Accordimg to the Remaniacs) As they are too proud to accept any form of state benefit, I wonder why they were all so desperate to come here. Beats me.

Beats me. Ok, a brief history, many of these countries were under communist rule for over 60 years, had to queue for things such as bread. My father could not go back after fighting with distinction in the last world war, he has his Polish passport taken and not recognised as a citizen as the eastern bloc was ceded to the soviets by Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt , at Yalta. The Polish knew of this whilst they were fighting at the Falaise gap or Hill 262 yet they fought and won that pivotal battle, alongside monte cassino, knowing they faced horrific times if they went home, it would never be home for the majority of them and they never saw their families again. Much more is coming out now. Britain did not pay any war pension to any of those who stayed. Many such people, like my parents, spent a huge amount of money sending parcels to their families. I talk of Poland but it was the same for any of the Eastern European countries that foughtwith us. Britain has many who now live abroad but nothing is said of that. Don’t you think that if you had any chance of bettering yourself and your families lives, that you wouldn’t take it. The Battle of Britain would not have been won , not without the fighters from Poland, the Czech pilots, many commonwealth too ? Falaise and Monte Cassino were all pivotal to victory yet they were not even allowed to march in the victory parade , to the eternal shame of those who sealed the fate of many hundreds of thousands All of us are born to circumstance and by accident of birth, we are born here. They come to better their lives and not to sit on theirs backsides, on benefits. You really should read more history so you get a better perspective Brexit , even many tories, now admit to be an awful mistake but in hushed tones but they are getting louder, thats been done to death anyway. Go to any hotel, airport or hospital where menial work is done and you will find many have a majority of workers from the EU zone and Philippines, now we need them as many of the indigenous population will not take the jobs, if they do then they dont last a week. My mrs works in an hotel and works around 70 hours a week, if she refuses then they get rid. This is how England is now and , due to the pandemic i am sure it will get worse. Ask the hospitals if they would like the EU workers back and you will get a resounding yes, luckily a fair few got settled status or we would be in an even worse place. Personally, i went to Germany to better myself as options were poor here and i took the chance, many British have emigrated to have better options and a better lifestyle. One thing though, please don’t tell me that if you had bugger all here, with no chance of that changing and had the chance to go abroad and better yourself, that you wouldn’t take it. It’s human nature to do so and how the USA was built and settled. In brief, your answers lay in history. Think yourself blessed that you were born here and not into abject poverty with zero chance of that changing. Maybe ask yourself why we are still allowing people in from Somalia, who are coached on our benefit system and much more, are still coming here but with no work ethic, do not have historical ties and have no thought of work, i shouldn’t generalise as i am sure some do but, by and large, the EU workers came here to work the government even felt the need to publish the figures on what just the Polish workers have brought to the country, in taxes and more.

Seems you are not alone, i did some reading and he is not very popular eh I was aware that he had fallen foul of the authorities for questionable financial dealings. It was only when I read up on him when I started this thread that I realised the depths of his duplicity and unpleasantness. I would have thought him a prime candidate for total exclusion from the game, but I suppose that would conflict with his human rights.

Totally right. Iris M's Nuns and Soldiers is to be read for a brilliantly incisive incursion into the torments of the Polish nation in 1944-45 - just as The Red and the Green tells you about the driving forces behind the Easter Rising and the shameful story of partition.
