I'm not looking forward to the start next week. I just feel that England will be under-cooked. Hope they prove me wrong though.

England "know Australia are beatable in Australia" in the upcoming Ashes, says fast bowler James Anderson.
The tourists have won only four Tests down under this century, and have lost nine of their past 10 matches.
But Anderson told the BBC's Project Ashes podcast: "We believe we have got a group of players who can win.
"I'm not just saying that. Quite often you do say that because you have to be positive, but we do genuinely believe we can win out here."
England are looking to regain the Ashes, which Australia retained with a 2-2 draw in the UK in 2019.
The first Test in Brisbane begins on Wednesday, 8 December at 00:00 GMT with Alex Carey set to make his debut for Australia after being called into the squad as a replacement for Tim Paine.
England have not won at the Gabba since 1986, but Australia's 23-year undefeated streak on that ground against all teams was ended in January when they were beaten by India.
"We know they are beatable in Australia. We've seen teams do it," said Anderson, England's all-time leading wicket-taker.
"It's not like years ago when they were such a dominant force, you would go there tentatively.
"India have won their last two tours here, South Africa have won here. It's not an impossible task."
On Anderson's four previous Ashes tours, England have twice been beaten 5-0 and also suffered a 4-0 loss, but their 3-1 victory in 2010-11 was kickstarted by drawing the first Test in Brisbane.
"If you lose at the Gabba, it's a real uphill struggle from there," he added. "When we came away from Brisbane with a draw in 2010, that set the series up for us."
Anderson also pointed to the stellar form of England captain Joe Root, who has made six Test centuries in 2021, and the return of premier all-rounder Ben Stokes after he missed most of the home summer to recover from a broken finger and protect his mental wellbeing.
"We've got some world-class players," he said. "We've got the best batsman in the world and the best all-rounder in the world. We truly believe we've got a good chance."

I'm not looking forward to the start next week. I just feel that England will be under-cooked. Hope they prove me wrong though. Joffra Archer will be missed. Would have loved to see him bowl fast in Australian conditions. Mark Wood is our only out and out fast bowler now, and he`s not the most robust of sportsmen. Wouldn`t mind betting that he`s on his way home, by the third test. Anderson and Broad are coming to the end of their careers, and they were never as effective away from home. Be interesting to see how Ollie Robinson gets on. A lot riding on him and Stokes to get wickets. Can Hameed and Burns make some runs at the top of the order, or will Root be coming in, facing practically a new ball and with the score 15/2? We`ve got the talent to do well, but whether they will or not remains to be seen.

Hard to tell how the preparations are going. England have had almost no practice in live conditions and it starts next week. Australia not the strongest team though they’ll be on a high after their T20 World Cup win. The weather in Australia is awful at the moment and floods are threatened in NSW. It’s unseasonably cold and wet. English conditions? I think it’s a bit too much to hope. Australia have their own problems after Paine’s problems and uncertainty. As Jos B said, whoever deals with all the stuff surrounding the real cricket better will win. Root will have been frustrated by how he’s been brought into the racist row surrounding Yorkshire CCC and that must be a worry. Anderson, Broad and Robinson will be very important and if they bowl well and take wickets we may do well. I find it difficult to think we’ll be anything except something like 90-4 or 5 in most innings but if Burns and Hameed could stick around for 90 minutes and get a good start it would give the team a lift. Whatever, if Hameed or Burns or Stokes or Robinson could do what Sir Alistair did 10 years ago in 2011 downunder and seize the moment and make their career it would be wonderful!

Hopefully, the Aussies will be caught with an angle grinder down at cow corner, being used to tamper with the ball. Two or three hysterical, weeping players during the ensuing press conference, and the odds should be evened up a bit.

Knowing very little about cricket, but interested in the Ashes... I would just have to say that Australia are 9/1 for a 5-0 victory. Which looks decent odds to me.

During the last Ashes series down under, England were nonplussed at the way Australia seemed to make the ball swing/move during the afternoon sessions, especially as England had bowlers who specialize in that but they couldn't get the ball to move........after South Africa we all now know how the Aussies managed that. The ball tampering with the sandpaper was not confined to just that one Test in SA, nor was it confined to the three players named. The bowlers must have known what was going on.
This time we have to hope that Mark Wood stays fit. Both him and Robinson could really do well. I cannot see Broad and Anderson playing together. There are virtually no breaks between the tests so I think England will rotate these two. I think there is only room for one of them. The worry is the spin department. Both Bess and Leach are really defensive spinners and not wicket takers.
My tip for the series? Dawid Malan. I think he could occupy the crease for long periods and get some good runs.

England's leading wicket-taker James Anderson has been rested for the first Ashes Test against Australia, with Ollie Pope preferred to Jonny Bairstow in the 12-man squad.
Spinner Jack Leach is included as is Ben Stokes, who has has not played any meaningful cricket since July.
The match, at the Gabba in Brisbane, starts at midnight GMT on Wednesday.
Seam bowler Anderson, 39, is not injured but England are keen to manage his workload.
England are looking to regain the Ashes, which Australia retained with a 2-2 draw in the UK in 2019.
Anderson has said he is aiming to play in three of the five Tests on his fifth trip down under.
The second Test, a day-nighter in Adelaide, begins only four days after the end of the first Test and may favour Anderson and England more with more movement expected for the bowlers.
"Jimmy's not going to play but he is fit. It's just precautionary," said wicketkeeper Jos Buttler
"It's obviously a very long series and we want a guy like that to be available to play as much of a part as possible. Jimmy's been bowling and bowling well - I faced him in the nets and that's been a great challenge going into a Test match.
"It seems that age is just a number for Jimmy at the minute. He's in fantastic shape, his skills are brilliant as always and he still seems to be trying to improve and learn new things."
Anderson pulled up injured on the first morning of the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston in 2019 and played no further part in the series.

It'll be a big series for Ollie Pope as well. He's been around too long to keep being labeled 'promising'. It's time for him to deliver.

Any fans watching England now know what it is like following Rovers. The occasional high but generally it's total misery.

Be nice to get off to a good start. Win the toss, 300/5 at the end of the day. That sort of thing. Yeah. This is so much more to me than a second 'world cup' of T20 Test Match nations shouldn't even play. Yet that's what the ECB prioritised, and we're humiliated on the first day of The Ashes. We're a Test Match nation, and this is very disappointing. Can't wait for day two!
