To me it seems strange that he would walk away if uwe is going to be built. Especially if the bod are going to see a return. I'm expecting even more bad news regarding the stadium in the near future. Regards to the man being ill I wish him a swift recovery back to full health. It's nothing new in terms of Bristol Rovers and bod, I think most believe we need some fresh faces coming in with new ideas to help take the club forward. It wont affect his return as he still has his shareholding and loans.

How will this affect the attitudes towards ex directors and olive branches etc. Does anyone think that those who lost out in 2006/7 will reappear.

To be fair some of the abuse he was getting on Twitter was a little over the top. As none of the others are on it, he takes all the flack! Personally, I dont think anything will change with just one man leaving. Unfortnately Qatar, GoD was adept at handing it out and has been for a long period. He has made many threats to people over the years and made many comments attacking others. He was never able to take criticism and many would say that has been the downfall of the club from the BoD perspective. Both he and the other board members developed a siege mentality and even though much of the criticsm was constructive they couldn't accept it the way it was meant. I can partly understand that as he may have felt that people were ungrateful at what his family, amongst others, did to save the club in the time at Twerton. However he took too much personally when it wasn't meant that way. The time for change is long overdue. I wish him well with his health problems but believe his going will hopefully allow the club to change direction. There are many good Gasheads who could help the club but haven't been able to. I hope they will now be invited to do so. So accurately put Cheshire, certainly a viewpoint represented by the many of us who have witnessed this, I do not wish Geoff any further ill health than the guy has already had to deal with, one thing is for sure interesting times lie ahead and the theory shared by many of us about Geoff being behind the ban of KS and blocking at least two separate attempts of investment with NH supposedly wanting to have new people on board is sure to be revealed in the coming months. I can only assume the people making the positive comments about Geoff being the man who should stay have not been part of or seen the way in which far too many great volunteers of the club were pushed away. The spotlight is certainly on the Chairman now if he indeed decides to come out of hiding and talk to the fans, I really do hope he now allows Colin Williams and Mike Turl to deservedly return to the club and help reunite the club with Kev Spencer also having his ban lifted. One thing is for sure, its madness to assume that success could ever be possible at Rovers without everyone in it together as we last had when Dennis Dunford was chair, we currently have next to no resources financially as we had at Twerton, however we had a respect among everyone on the board, the terraces and playing and coaching staff, until there are signs of this returning the status quo will remain IMO, time to bring respect and loyalty back to this club and become untited again for one cause.

The only thanks to Geoffrey I've seen, are those that should be reserved for the memory of Dunford Snr!
I've nothing to thank him for, other than helping to drag the club down to its lowest point to date! Three relegations and non league football?! Great tenure!
I'm not expecting any one else from the box 1 mafia to follow, which makes any feelings of joy over this mornings news pretty short lived.

I said half way through last season there had been a power shift and no one believed it, but it was so obvious for anyone who attends games in Exec boxes/ socialises there before/after games. No one believed that, but believe me this change wont really affect the Boardroom decisions on day to day support for manager/team matters or quality of management off the field. No doubt he had a big say in certain matters, but day to day, nope.
Bloke was likened to a Nazi and worse on twitter and elsewhere over last few days and whilst we've had many differences, even I'd have said enough is enough in his position as the abuse was just ridiculous. However bad things are debate/ heated argument is one thing personal abuse is not what I associate with my club whatever the provocations, and god knows there's been a few.

My understanding was that it was Geoff that talked Dennis into getting involved ..... regardless Geoff was fully involved at that time so think we owe thanks to them both.

Part of the problem of Bristol Rovers, but he just never saw it. I feel the same emotion as when Maggie Thatcher retired!!

I think that, with the benefit of hindsight, Geoff made the wrong choice in engaging with fans via the club forum and twitter. I think NH's (much more standard IMO) approach of occasional formal statements generally works better

Geoff has been ill for three years or more and we should acknowledge what he and his father did to save the club in the dark days at Twerton....yes youngsters things were bleak then groundshare with a Conference club in a poor stadium, poor pitch and gates of 2500...don't believe everything was rosy at Bath ..it was hell ..we signed players like Bob Newton, Nicky Jones et all ...and survived the first season by virtue of a win at relegated Newport County ...Francis turned us around had the fortune to sign some decent players Nigel Martyn, Steve Yates, transform Gary Penrice and Ian Alexander from midfield and winger to striker and full back. We gradually built up a no defeat mentality but it took three seasons.
The Dunfords helped with the budget and paid wages out of their own pockets ...lets be grateful otherwise we would not be watching this Club on saturday

I would like to wish Geoff all the best, the stress being involved with the running of the club must be extremely high.
Upwards and onwards.

If GD is to be believed, this will change nothing for the better as he has had little involvement in the last few years except helping financially. All it means is we will have less money than before. If things do start to change, then his parting statement will have proved to have been a load of rubbish, lets hope he was lying.
I wish GD all the best and thank him for investing in our club over the years.

Sounds like your getting your manics mixed up with your Stereophonics Manc, try Nicky Wire as manics guitarist and Kelly Jones from Phonics, both valley boys!
