With all the attention on Barton, it’s worth remembering this charlatan is continuing to steal a living under the radar. Whilst Joey has successfully sidelined him to a position of Director of Loaning out the Crap He’s Signed, he continues to be a paid director of the club.
His background as a failed National League South manager never convinced me he was right for a Director of Football role here. He couldn’t work with Tisdale, and with the experience Tisdale has at this level why should he be interested in a word Tommy had to say? The organisation was upside down.
Like Joey, Tommy comes across as arrogant and deluded, and like Joey, he fails to back that up with performance.
Personally, I’m fuming tonight and desperate to see Joey sacked. But I fear unless this guy is shown the door fairly swiftly as well then the next appointment may have a much harder job on his hands than he should have

He is just telling us what we already knew. TW has been made redundant by Joey and Eddy. It's as clear a case of constructive dismissal that you will ever find. More fool Starnes and Wael for allowing it to happen, but as TW was promoted into the role, then it is hard to believe how it can be reconciled until Joey disappears or TW is paid off. I assume that TW needs a wage and won't walk.
Total disconnect between recruitment and football management side. Shambles really.

In any case, Widdrington's contribution to last season's relegation should be grounds alone for dismissal.

Worth asking Messrs. Mansell and Parinello for their thoughts on TW and the policy of sending the kids out to get kicked to heck all over the Southern League.

JB: "We’re still at the point where we don’t have any scouts... We need an opposition scout and I haven’t got one. I’ve got no scouting team. Tommy Widdrington had them, but I don’t know where he’s gone with them. I haven’t spoken to him for a long period... The scouts he had, I don’t even know if they exist, I haven’t had a conversation with them, so at this moment in time, we’re pretty much doing everything." - Tommy hasn't had that responsibility for scouting for players, and scouting the opposition, since June Joey. And that appears to be through your doing. So what the hell have you been doing for scouting for the past 5 months?
JB: "The sooner everything settles down at the football club, the sooner we get absolutely clear direction – I think that comes from the CEO and I think that comes from the director of football, and I use that word loosely, I think it comes from those directions." - You needn't use 'that word loosely' at all Joey, because he isn't 'Director of Football' and hasn't been since June. And it seems to have been down to you. Remember?

I never had Tommy down as the enforcer type.

Mansell has been the model pro since leaving but privately he is not happy by his treatment prior to leaving Rovers. Parinello only told half a story when he left.

Mansell is always the model pro and I would have loved to have seen him given the job and still would now. What Joey said today, whether he was right or wrong (and I don’t take a word he says at face value), is undignified, unprofessional and just more showboating to make headlines. Others have left the club and had to stay quiet, so it must be galling to see Joey shoot his mouth off again. As per the original post I’m no fan of Tommy and I think Tisdale should have been given full control when he came in. But he’s still a director and what Barton had to say should have stayed in house. Barton out

Barton out Yes, Joey shooting from the hip again. Frost dangled the name Widdrington in front of him and this was the catalyst for another infamous rant on ineptitude. However, this was the model for continuity and stability proposed by Starnes and Widdrington as long ago as December 2019, pre Ben. Widdrington was promoted to DOF in 2021 after winning a game against Portsmouth. Then Wael was seduced by the cult of personality and everything was ripped up. However, irony of ironies, the proponents of the DNA option stay on board. Confused? No, as Wael has failed to follow through on the consequences of his 2021 change of heart and his veering towards "the great disruptor".

Barton out I agree, this kind of devisive talk before we play is unnecessary, and straight from the Dennis Wise school of bullying. Let sleeping dogs lie now Joe

Here's a suggestion for him as he seems to be so good at identifying problems but hopeless at resolutions: since everything is appalling to the point of being barely tolerable, and you are surrounded by incompetents, it's situation hopeless and you owe it to yourself to walk away; after all, there's your reputation to consider and it's not as if you've built anything worth hanging around to enjoy, so there's clearly no point in staying (other than to shoehorn another load of your mates onto the payroll as scouts). Off you pop - I'm sure everyone will say 'good for you' and 'Poor Joey' and no-one will notice that you took a club down about 24 places in about six months (including closed season) or that your time there was anything other than a triumph, your departure a huge loss to them, and no more than they deserve. Go on.... treat yourself... you know it makes sense. Quick as you like.

If the article is how the conversation went then Frosty didn't mention Widders: " Barton, asked if the club was working on contract extensions for the likes of Sam Nicholson, Cian Harries and Antony Evans – whose deals expire at the end of the season – replied: ... ". Looks like another case of ask a question and off he goes!

Barton strikes me as a back street mechanic. Engine is not running well, replace the engine instead of let's tune it.
Forget off-field situation he must have lost all respect by now. How can he be trusted?

Dear Wael
The manager of the football club you own has publicly stated that everyone running it is incompetent. Do you agree with him?
If so, what are you doing about it?
If not, what are you doing about it?
Hope all’s good with you. Here’s weather, eh?
Yours sincerely S. Starkadder (Mr.)

Martyn Starnes speaks on the official website today. Not exactly setting the direction but shows he’s still here. He wishes Kevin Maher good luck for the future.
I hope Kevin Maher is a success at Southend and that Martyn Starnes is doing well in whatever he’s doing

This will be fun then, Widdrington, as a member of the BoD, can take himself to an employment tribunal.
