I'm old enough but genuinely can't remember a non-roofed Tote End (I was only between 4 and 8 years old between 1957 and 1961 so maybe wasn't too aware of the surroundings) - are you sure it was put up in 1961? I think that was the year the floodlights were erected, or could have been 1960. Didn't get to the Tote until about 1964 - Boys Enclosure followed by South Enclosure followed by Tote - that was the traditional route for growing lads back then! According to Definitive History. Tote End roof added summer 1961. Original totaliser clocks installed 1935. Floodlights first used 6th September 1959 for game against Ipswich. North Stand constructed summer 1958. Not sure when the flower beds went in. Correct,The first game with the new North Stand was home to S****horpe,a 4-0 win which was also the last home game that the great Harry Bamford played. the first three games played with the new tote end roof were all home defeats v Liverpool,Bury and Sunderland and subsequently meant relegation to the third division. The floodlights were indeed erected in 1959 and celebrated with a 2-1 win v Ipswich. I was there for all the above but not when the flower beds were created which I guess came when the ground changed shape to accommodate Greyhound racing in 1935 ,that was even before my time!

Good luck Brunty but how many goals has he scored for BRFC,York and Stevenage since his injury. He was probably one of the higher earners,Clarke had little option,we are a non-league club, gone are the days where we can carry players who spend most of the time in the treatment room.

Ian Hamilton played over 100 games for Rovers and his brother David was on the books,he tragically died in a fire without reaching the first team,, their father David also played for Rovers between the wars. Also in the early ,70s brothers Malcolm and David John were at the club at the same time,Malcolm played and handful of games. David never quite made it.Both were strikers and were around at the same time as Warboys,Bannister,Staniforth,Rudge so their chances were limited.

How old is Tubbs ? Maybe the only way to get a player of his ability is to offer three years, what else other than that security plus a good salary tempts a player on his game to step down ? Not saying that is the preferred option, but I don't see any other candidates who fit the bill at the moment. Whatever happens, we are certainly one of the better sides in the conference if not the best side, DC has put together a solid foundation, the fans have backed the club in numbers, its now up to the board to support DC and push on from here. Heres hoping ! Tubbs will be 31 on July 15th.

Stevenage are 10th in league Two,just 16 places above us,York are even closer to us and quite honestly I doubt that theres much difference in quality between the three sides. I hope Brunt recovers, stays at Stevenage and does well but I dont want him back,I think he'll always be a regular on the treatment table,Stoke knew this when they let us have him, I'm very happy with his replacement .

we've taken 17 points from the last 7 games We are also undefeated in 11 Conference matches. I know it's not technically "League" matches, but does anyone know the longest sequence of games Rovers have gone undefeated in league games? 32 games.. the final 5 in 73 season and the first 27 in 73/74 so a long way to go yet!

Another one Record attendance: 11,963 Oxford United vs Rushden & Diamonds at The Kassam Stadium (Play-off semi-final second leg, 3 May 2010) Do you think we could beat this stat? what is the home max? Football Ground Guide says 12,011. We'd need to play someone who could sell out the away end or alternatively squeeze two down away fans into a corner whilst selling out the entire ground ourselves That attendance cannot be achieved now as we no longer have the Guiness Stand which seated about 500.

Is that it for them now, or will they be back in a different guise? I hope they come back in the future just as Accy, Newport,Maidstone and others have done but its a long road and they'll have to start way down the pyramid. There's few things worse than losing your football club.

It was a Non-League cup tie,We are a non-league Club, we should have been looking to win it.We should always show respect to the league we are in and the opposition we play. We had five first choice players missing plus LDV who surely would have played but thats no excuse, the replacemnts wernt kids and if it proved one thing its the overall squad isnt good enough enough,we look even less like scoring than we did at the beginning of the season,we create little and my fear is that if the rumours are true and Tubbs is joining us in January he wont do much better than the present strikers as there's no supply. Someone said recently that the defence was created by previous managers and the rest of the team was created by Clarke, well Mansell and Sinclar apart the rest are less than inspiring. Clarke said back in August that he would put a team out that would score lots of goals,28 in 27 league and cup games just isnt good enough, lets hope he addresses the problem in January else we can forget even the play-offs.

Martin Thomas,Phil Kite,Tim Carter all made their debuts at 17/18 and it didnt do them any harm,If we cant get anyone in then it would be better to play Preston who is a proper keeper , the defence could hopefully protect him in the same way as they did with McChrystal, I do find it odd though that a loan keeper hasnt materialised yet, unless Clarke has sorted someone but just hasnt announced it yet.

For me, that game is immortalised by the shout from one wag in the North Enclosure, just after Miah Dennehy got his hat-trick goal. When the cheers had started to die down, the man in the flat cap yelled out "Get that bloody idiot off, Harold!". Fans did irony in those days! My most vivid memory of Miah was an evening game at Craven Cottage. When the fog rolled in from the Thames it served to confuse the poor old chap, and when he set off on one of his mazy runs he ended up running into the terrace barriers. Cue hysterical laughter from all and sundry. Talking of Irish wingers, does anyone remember Joe Haverty? Was he shorter than George Petherbridge, or what? Haverty was 5ft3.1/2" Georgie 5ft 4"

...should never be compromised in the running and professional conduct of our beloved club. Otherwise we can't distinguish right from wrong. When does it become right to ban a fan from the ground whom helps pay the wages of a convicted (I want to say murderer, but that is inaccurate and libelous) death causer, because his lesser crime was to invade a playing surface? Crazy! If we do sign Hughes, it's double standards with the dealing of Pipe, and complete hypocrisy for all those whom booed him when he played at the Mem. Pipe was applauded by some in the Dribuild recently so maybe some believe in giving someone a second chance or maybe I'm just a bit too liberal!

and there is the problem right there.......Not a single Rovers player in the top 43 list of goalscorers ! Dont worry, the directors have identified that already and the more astute did so halfway through the Mansfield game!

He's no worse than the impotent strikers we have at the moment,I welcome his return and hope that he can rekindle the form of two years ago. He's now match fit so give him a go until Tubbs,Hughes,A.N.Other, arrive and start convert the chances.Surely we can have one striker who is able to score a few goals.
