Cheers for letting us know about the kids offer, even with that though 7,000 is an excellent effort. Just checked GTFC website, apparently we took 452 in total. And Crazytrain I understand what you mean, but deffo a heads up for you guys; you will have a lot of very low away gates! It is what I find most depressing about this level. Once again best for the season and look forward to seeing you in Feb. Mariner,Can you recommend anywhere to eat fairly near to your ground ? also any pubs that we should ( or should not ) visit ?

You can't allow fact to get in the way of rhetoric, especially when spouting totally irrelevant nonsense. Really who gives a toss other than the bird brains

Let's see what we get in a few weeks when there are no kids offers on. Can't judge anything on the first game which is always well attended. More boring games like today won't encourage some to come back sadly. it wasnt boring you idiot it was a good game

Just a quick hello from a Mariner who visited you guys today. Firstly yes it was a hell of a crowd, well done for getting so many out there. Can I ask were there any ticket offers or was it just a case of mobilizing your support excellenty? And Crazytrain may be dissapointed with 400 fans travelling but... early kick off, other side of the country and game on the telly 400 is a pretty decent turnout, and you will be very dissapointed with away fan turnout in general at this level. However main reason for invading your forum to post is just to say what a nice day out I had, the game wasn't great really but I met quite a few gasheads and everyone I met was really nice and friendly and had a good chat with. I hope we will be as welcoming in Feb! All the best! there was a kids go free offer but i dont think that made much difference, grimsby away support was great and lovely to see grimsby fans happily strolling with rovers fans after the match,i was proud of our fans today and we gave craig disley a fantastic reception

Maybe try watching the game next time... i did watch the game, which players did you like/dislike? It most definitely was not a good game, We might get emotionally involved and kick every ball and that stops us from getting bored but it was a dog of a game if truth be told.

City's away following? Pffft... 655 at Sheff Utd is terrible.
They'll give it the old "on telly" bollox as well. Dressed up in that awful new Barney 3rd strip. Bless um.

Driving down from brum I arrived late and was told there was some handbags outside anyone know anything about this also there was a massive police precense for this game wonderful support by the gas and a good away following Apparently around 20 Grimsby fans thought it would be a good idea to have a run at The Vic. Outnumbered by the Rovers fans inside, and some who brought up the rear - sounds as though the police were prepared for it. Good to see Grimsby fans posting on both forums, to say that they enjoyed the day, and that our fans were very friendly.

Stat of the day was the attendance. Fantastic effort by the Gas and Grimsby. I am pretty sure they only bought 49 to the Mem on a Friday evening once... Looking forward to Barnet. Could be very good Gas support and I would advise getting there early. At Underhill they were always under-prepared for Rovers and long queues at the ONE turnstile they had open. Could be even worse organisation at the new 'stadium'... UTG.

Looking at some Conference crowds yesterday,600 at Alfreton and Welling really brings home our non league status. There will be several away games where we outnumber the home fans. What great fans The Gas have .Deserve better.

Good to see Grimsby fans posting on both forums, to say that they enjoyed the day, and that our fans were very friendly. On the way up to the ground we came across this as it happened. Roughly 30 Grimsby had come down to the Vic and let off a smoke bomb. Dancing, missile throwing and handbags ensued until a charge from rovers sent Grimsby running. The police then arrived from the direction of the ground and calm was restored. From what I saw there was one person injured.
it did seem strange that there was no police presence on glos rd to prevent this kind of thing as normal and that a skip full of roof tiles and building material was allowed to be left opposite the Vic.
