Hopefully we will let Tom go in the summer, I think it's best for both parties. I agree but the snag is that if, as posters on this thread believe, he has another year to go on his contract then he won't necessarily want to go anywhere and he can't be forced to do so. Let's face it, his time with Rovers has torpedoed his career and he may well struggle to get even as high as National League were he to move on. He must be on pretty decent wages with us, aligned with his transfer fee, and may well think that one more year of that money may be the best option before he has to take a massive cut at whichever club he ends up with. The only alternative - and expensive for Rovers - scenario is for him to accept such a move with us propping up his salary so that he has another year being paid at that rate elsewhere.

Or, we could pay him off, and, he could get a proper job.

So his inclusion on a weekly basis so nearly cost us relegation. Hats off to that man 🎩

It looks as if lazy boy is staying. I don’t for the life of me see what this ‘ goal scoring genius ‘ brings to the side apart from wasting everybody’s sodding time. He certainly holds the titles of best hider and squealer in the club. A total sodding fraud.

''...I don’t for the life of me see what this ‘ goal scoring genius ‘ brings to the side...''
Professional managers do see it though.

Scores a goal every 2,147 minutes. That's one goal for every 35 hours 47 minutes the free-scoring goal machine is on the pitch. And it was a penalty. So this also indicates an infinite amount of time to score a goal from open play based on 2018-2019 league appearances (36 games played). To infinity, and beyond.

He is not a striker though, is he ? i am not trying to rationalise his lack of goals but I think he played in MF for Exeter and only played a forward role at Posh. He is capable of some good football but I just cannot see how anyone could view him as a front man. I think he would do better if played in behind a striker or strikers but there is no doubt that even in that position, I think he would struggle. Small wonder the posh owner was full of himself, after getting such a fee for him

Cost Clarke his job. Bum lickers don't pay the bills.

Nichols is probably staying then. Looks like he's pulled the wool over another managers eyes. We could probably get £100,000 for him to reinvest. He keeps other players out who could easily score more goals than him given the same game time. There IS no sentiment in football. Looks like Nichols is the first ever player to buck that trend it beggars belief !

We've been waiting 2 years for his head to clear. We are a football club not a rehabilitation center.

Who do you think would pay that kind of money for a one-goal-a-year merchant? If we got £10,000 we'd be fortunate, and as I've posted before he probably wouldn't accept a move anywhere unless he got something like the salary he will receive for next season's efforts with us.

Should have come to the Barnet game then. I was there when Nichols scored Here you go, you can see him having his feet taken from under him when he's about to tap the ball into an open net by our favourite goalie, Cousins, as well, how that isn't a penalty and a red card is beyond me. Totally corrupt refereeing. That would have brought the average time between goals tumbling. I know it wasn't a League game, but we can't be too fussy at this stage. www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Bristol+Rovers+vs+Barnet+football+21+November+2018&view=detail&mid=E6772FEDBB8D1E89B9D0E6772FEDBB8D1E89B9D0&FORM=VIRE

That worldie against MK Dons... which is now over 18 months ago. Any other Club would have had him tarred and feathered by now. That makes us supporters incredibly patient and understanding of poor little Tom... or a bunch of mugs who happily accept mediocrity. Probably a bit of both.

Probably a bit of both. A goal scorer at this level he most certainly is not, but he did his bit when we changed managers, he upped his work rate and chipped in with some assists. Sadly though he reverted to type for the final few games. There's a player in there somewhere, but it's gone too far for him to salvage things at this club. Anybody who will literally stand still and allow another player from 15 yards away to run past him and do the job he should be doing simply can't be trusted.

Have to agree, there were a couple of games and he looked very good, great movement and with some pace. Got in there a bit and looked a player. But, he doesn't put it in enough. Two choices really, keep scoring like Cureton and workrate isn't all that, or don't ever score and contribute in many other ways, doing neither isn't acceptable.
