Debate or statment of political views either way this is a Rovers forum. Maybe so, but with a quick count this thread has had 25 contributors, including a couple of the admin team, all Rovers' supporters, plus Trymer (also a Rovers' supporter) who posted complaining that it wasn't just about Rovers. The last match day thread had 19 contributors. This thread hasn't descended into name calling or arguments, nothing has been said that has needed moderating. Maybe something you didn't agree with was posted and that's why you jumped in, or a small number of people moaned to admin, but I thought it was a forum for supporters, not for one or two to dictate what was discussed?

Could it be that few thought it was “payback”, but there was a track record of violence and murder by a section of fans at the club, and the logical conclusions was to assume the same guys who helped kill a load of peaceful family fans running away from violent hooligans were more likely to be at fault than the authorities? I don’t think it was unreasonable to think that at the time.

This thread was only marginally Rovers related from the start now it's morphed to a full on political debate. Thread anchored. At last ! ....well done JeffNZ

Posters pushing there own distasteful political views[to me] as well as poor taste opinions on the heysel and hillsborough events makes this thread pretty vile and nothing at all to do with bristol rovers. I suppose the answer really is simply not to read the thread at all once it becomes political. To offer a different opinion to posters forcing their own politics on us all would simply destroy my view that this is not the place for politics so i wont bother. As a poster pointed out more posters post on this thread than a match day thread so why not change the forum name. What about "the conservative club independent forum"? just an idea.

Not forcing your political opinions, holier than thou, then posts a dig at the tories. You sound like a total bed wetter so please feel free to continue sniffing your own farts, rather than read those oh so vile opinions. If I ever found things “distasteful” I’d seriously question my integrity, because that word is generally used by cowards who want to shut down debate. Sneaks, in other words Give me the Murdoch bashers I disagreed with above rather than disingenuous, canieving folk like you, any day of the week.

I saw it too. A load of things are mixed up on this. You can see Heysel with your own eyes. Was that photoshopped? We were banned from Europe. That had nothing to do with the establishment. The question was why the Sun made that headline. I think a lot of people, having seen Heysel and been aware of the actions of football fans in the 80s, especially Liverpoool, would have naturally been led to the conclusion that the fans, having rushed gates on MANY occasions, might of had a hand in the tragedy. This isn’t anything to do with the cover up, and the way fans were treated, which was appalling.. Indeed, the same South Yorkshire police covered up racially agggravated child rape over a 15 year period, also covered up by the media, albeit this, given the dearth of coverage in comparison with Hilsborough, seems less of an issue. Don’t ever accuse me of being insensitive to what happened, just because you saw the documentary and really want that high horse, you can’t deny the basic facts of public opinion and WHY a lot of people were insensitive. You can’t wish it away I am afraid, and you have to be mature enough to see the wider picture and not just parrot the theme of the modern revisionist view.

This is a thread about George Galloway. If you don’t like my views, refute them, don’t throw snide remarks telling me to leave. Plenty of others took part in the tango. Or perhaps this is like deliverance, or gaschat, an in-group with banjos and moonshine on a porch😂

We obviously have different politics etc which is fine but whats it got to do with this rovers forum? If you dont like stuart sinclair for instance im more than happy to argue my case for him.

How could anyone argue against sir Stuart. Truth is, I had 2 hours sleep last night and was keyboard warrioring. You’re dead right this isn’t to do with Rovers, but this type of figure (Galloway) is going to get some political Agro going. Red mist descends all round when politics gets involved, but I don’t see any condemnation of people on the establishment view (ie the view the BBC are pushing - murdochs a liar and hillsborough was deliberate murder by people who probably think thatcher and eating red meat is a good thing) Just saying nobody is castigating the mainstream view for politicising the forum, just those who don’t agree, and being told to p1ss off for doing the same thing grates somewhat. Just think it’s a shame that threads only get locked down when it’s not the mainstream view, just alternative views which are seen as a corruption of the rules. Anyway, I’ve made enough enemies. My work is done.

The Tory toffs controlling the world is a 20th century thing. It only lives on today in the Daily Mirror. Most of the real money and power these days sits squarely behind modern liberalism. Just look at the views of the vast majority of corporates. They are not touting Thatcherism, they are virtue signalling about climate change and equal rights. The world has changed, they just have a new stick to beat the working class with, and nowadays people like Mogg bizarrely represent the people more than “socialists” who sneer at Brexit voters and football fans
