A rather unusual affair for sure. Now that someone from the club has signed up perhaps they might be better off contributing to the discussion and setting the record straight? How do we know that it was actually someone from the club though ? anyone could join under the name taffygobsh1te and people would think 'aha I know who that is'.

The only information that Admins have is your user name, email and IP address. Oh that figures; it's you who has procured my email address. Please stop emailing me then about Russian girls who want to chat with me, how this lad in Bradley Stoke made £thousands from his own home, that one neat trick for belly fat Doctors don't want me to know, and why men my age are ditching their penis pills for THIS!

You are at least the 3rd person to say something similar. It seems that complaining about what's written is worth the effort, introducing yourself and having a chat with supporters isn't. I honestly thought we had left this stuff behind when Wael arrived In response to the suggestion above that this is nothing to do with the club, you would have thought that somebody from the club would have made contact to distance themselves from the whole thing, wouldn't you?

Sorry you were supposed to get updates from DU Magazine (Ducks Unlimited) I will inform the relevant department of their error.

Dear Gasheads.org, A while ago, one of your forum participants, known here as Badbloodash, wrote about me on here. Specifically, he alleged that I had engaged in an extra-marital affair with a gadwall from Chew Valley Lake. I have signed up here to refute this allegation. I have not had any extra-marital affair with a gadwall. I have not had knowledge of any other species of anatidae from Somerset. Badbloodash's allegations about my private life are without foundation. I have, therefore, asked Badbloodash to retract his allegations outright. I will then consider this matter closed. Yours sincerely, Steve Hamer Oveler

Geoff spent so much time on the old forum he can't have had time to do much else. Seemed to work very well in the early days but it went a bit sour in the end. It wasn't really sustainable after Mem redevlopment saga and the infamous Cheltenham incident.

That didn't take long Seriously though, that's a problem, if someone from the club, or even the SC did have their own section, it would only work if the dialogue was respectful.

And it always starts out well and ends badly because some people simply refuse to accept the answers given and it becomes very negative. Great idea in theory but ultimately doomed to failure and we end up with worse relations than when we started.

Won't disagree, but as I recall, it all got a bit daft, there was a lack of mutual respect, some people said things they may later have regretted, and the infamous 'full stop' was born. Does anyone know of a forum where a FC board member interacts?

Dear Mr Hamer (or colleague that may read this forum and can pass this suggestion on), Just a small piece of feedback, that I would be grateful if you could 'think' about taking on board. Would it be possible, when being interviewed, to try not starting your reply with "I think ... " ? I'm not suggesting your replies aren't the truth, but it doesn't instill me with confidence when I hear this. It also doesn't help counter suspicion from others, rumours and general negativity. Many thanks, The Concept. I know what you mean. But is it the worst thing about a Mr Hamer interview? Mr Hamer is not a man to use ten words to say very little, when five hundred words will do. Likewise, I know what you mean. But no, that would be different, and misses the original point I'm trying to make. I'm not so much worried about the way something is said - public speaking doesn't come easy to the most confident, or most experienced - what does concern me is the what is said: the content. I expect lots of us drive home from a game and listen out to interviews, with certain footballers, and count the number of times they say "...y'know ..." or "... like I say ...", or whatever the latest idiosyncrasy is (and many of us have got them) - I'm not overly concerned about the how: fair play for them speaking when a microphone is placed in front of them. I've sat through many presentations at work, where the speaker has waffled and gone off on a tangent, but as long as they are engaging that's the main thing. Alternatively, someone may be succinct, to the point, but staccato and end up losing the audience. To be honest I haven't really got a problem with Mr Hamer's style and manner of speech. What I was getting at in the original post is Mr Hamer starting with "I think", when asked a question about what has happened, what is happening, or certain timescales. These are on subjects such as the UWE Stadium, player contracts, and the training ground. Most times it has come to my attention has been in the media, rather than the Official Rovers interview, and usually on Radio Bristol. I'm afraid it's difficult to get many examples, from Rovers youtube, but here goes ... I don't want to hear: " I think they introduced a deadline date ... ". - I want to hear: " They introduced a deadline date ...". I don't want to hear: " I think plan B, or whatever the alternatives are ...". - I want to hear: " Plan B, or whatever the alternatives are ...". I don't want to hear: " I think the Al Qadi family are 100% behind us...". - I want to hear: " The Al Qadi family are 100% behind us ...". However, since listening back to Mr Hamer's interviews, I now realise that he uses "I think" quite a lot - it's his own little idiosyncrasy. In a way that's good for me as I'll cringe less when he uses it on something I feel is more important than being preceded with "I think". Oh, and sorry about all my waffling here!

You're more generous than me. I'll forgive any verbal bumbling if I trust totally the sentiment. Perhaps I don't fully with Wael and Hamer at the moment. I feel we were fools to believe certain things said. So I am less forgiving over style. That you are more so is to your credit. I take you serious point about how a businessman should assert certain statements of fact though entirely.

There's one from Twerton and one from 12 years ago, any others?
