From what I gather, not that I use Facebook or anything similar, but that invitation for a quick cuddle in a darkened alley was mild compared to what's almost accepted as normal on those social media platforms. As we've mentioned previously, you would have hoped that people running the club would be too busy trying to sign players, making sure everybody was paid, working out how we are going to develop that beautiful piece of land in BS7, working on plans for the training ground, the list of things goes on and on. If I'm honest, if someone called me a liar or similar on here I would just ignore it and think to myself that the post said more about the person who resorted to a simplistic insult rather than demonstrating why they thought what I had said was incorrect than it did about me. But that's just me I guess?

I agree with that wholeheartedly. And I'll always come to the defence of freedom of speech, to criticise, and to even to insult. But don't undermine that by suggesting fights in dark alleys. That's not cool, gents, and it makes us look like dumb thugs.

But that's just me I guess? In principle I entirely agree with you. But I do see the point of a response when someone accuses you, as a director, of not caring about bankrupting local businesses, even if that was not intended a was due to poor grammar. If gone unchallenged I can see a scenario where it would be repeated ad infinitum on various media outlets. Remember the issue over payment to fencing contractors is still raw to some. The need to add that sort of childish comment just exposes the original author, in my opinion. Such things diminish the authenticity of fans comments and critique of the management of the club, just as much as the incompetence of the Supporters Club.

He can revisit the original topic, if someone is that upset then maybe apologise for the language used (I didn't see the post in question) and go on to attempt to demonstrate why he thinks his point of view is valid, I'm all for that, but as you say, the invitation to meet in a dark alley did look to have sinister intent.

Again, I didn't see the original post so can't comment on the specifics. If it was just poor or no punctuation, why wasn't that just corrected, why was the post deleted? Sounds like I've got it all wrong anyway, I thought someone had been accused of being untruthful, you seem to be suggesting that something else was written that caused the problem.

Dear Mr Hamer (or colleague that may read this forum and can pass this suggestion on),
Just a small piece of feedback, that I would be grateful if you could 'think' about taking on board.
Would it be possible, when being interviewed, to try not starting your reply with "I think ... " ? I'm not suggesting your replies aren't the truth, but it doesn't instill me with confidence when I hear this. It also doesn't help counter suspicion from others, rumours and general negativity.
Many thanks, The Concept.

(I didn't see the post in question) This frustrates me no end. Not you for not having read it (I feel sure you'd read it if you could), not BRIFF admin for censoring it (libel laws and judicial interpretation of them regarding internet 'publication' give them no choice), but with the system in this country*. We're here debating the relative merits of something 'libellous' written but now invisible. Were I a parliamentarian I would want to re-legislate to allow libellous content to remain published, but with a clear adjacent warning that the content had been deemed libelous, and often (just as likely) with an apology below by the author who was unable to substantiate the libellous assertion, who could formally retract an allegation, or qualify it is a mutually acceptable way, or provide evidence to support a statement (s)he stood by, or to seek corroboratory evidence if (s)he so dared. All pending the outcome of any necessary investigation, but often I suspect, the original author would end up just apologising and correcting him/herself. The legal necessity for immediate censorship and deletion leaves us all in the dark, unable to discuss properly, or to determine the truth or lack thereof. * libel laws in other mature democratic countries do not so favour censorship of allegedly libellous assertions It's all very well when it's all ducks and third division football club supporters, discussing bankers investing in football. But it isn't always. Anyway, back to the Rovers.

Many thanks, The Concept. I know what you mean. But is it the worst thing about a Mr Hamer interview? I'm also reminded of you know the sort of Wimbledon's position of you know the crazy gang of the 80s, and they were you know - they did everything in reverse, didn't they? The ground was appalling; they turn up in an old beaten banger to the away matches, and er, but I think if you've got the spirit, and you've got the unity and the if you like the commitment and the hunger and the camp [inaudible] to win play football games that's what counts... Mr Hamer is not a man to use ten words to say very little, when five hundred words will do.

How did the club find out who badbloodash is? Just asking, as I hope it didn't come from the admin on here. Data protection and all that don't you know.

When you registered to join the forum, you did so with proboards. The only information that Admins have is your user name, email and IP address.
