Cameo return of nostalgia.
For me, I've been twice. Both early 90's, obviously pre JW. No one could've predicted the diversity of route both clubs would make in the 25 years since last meet!?
Once was a right tonking 4/5-1 on a Saturday. Easily non memorable!
Once was a Tuesday night. A player very kindly gave mate and me tickets for the stand unexpectedly outside. We drew 2-2. It really should've been more for them, all over us culminating in ball getting 'stuck' in mud on our goal line!
Oh how we need a bit of that luck just to steady the ship.
But I'm guessing the same old turnstile Ellis / Gaff to partner Nichols.. The same old turnstile Sweeney / Broadbean to partner Locks..
And wonder what we'll get dished up?
(I just hope we keep it to single figures!)
Safe journey, Gas! Let's hope for a great game and a proud Gas performance..

Dec 1991 Left Bristol on an icy day not expecting game to be played at Ewood pretty hostile. Rovers lost 3-0 totally taken apart lucky to keep the score down. Would expect the same on Saturday. Real footie fans in Blackburn

Been to Blackburn, though not for the footie, and it's the biggest s**th*le in the world.

It really should've been more for them, all over us culminating in ball getting 'stuck' in mud on our goal line! In recalling the ball getting stuck in the 2-2 draw, you've pre-empted my sole memory from my only Blackburn v Rovers match. It was Tuesday 12th March 1991. Actually, I remember the pitch being frozen hard and thought that, rather than getting stuck, the ball hit a divot and rebounded away at an outrageous angle from Brian Parkin's empty goal. My only other comment is about Lancastrian turns of phrase, when I was in Blackburn for a Premier League match in the late 90's. I heard this from a hot dog vendor: "do you want onions with that, no?". It's that "no" that amused me, as though he would rather not provide more than the bare minimum. A bit like Angus and Dougal on "I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue": "You'll have had your tea...".

May have been 1976 but not certain as I can't even recall the score in the game. Our coach took us to Blackpool for the evening afterwards and that's about as much I can remember about the whole adventure.Young and dumb back then and not used to drinking either.Pernod Nigel was there as well he may have been the transport organiser.

I was at the 3-0 and the 2-2. I seem to remember we were 2 down in the 2-2 game and fought back. I used to get freebies for away games then and we had tickets for the players bar but couldn't get in because we weren't wearing ties! Four of us set off for that trip but we broke down in Thornbury, so left the driver with his car, managed to get back to Bristol to get another car and just the three of us went. Getting to the game seemed far more important than abandoning our mate with the car back then!

1975/76 - Losing 0-1 at half-time, we turned it around with goals from Bruce Bannister and David Staniforth, to win 2-1. The Supporters Coach dropped us off outside the ground, and as we made our way over some derelict ground to their Supporters Club, some of their fans decided to kick out at us. Saw seven away games that season, and, this was the only one that we didn't lose.

Did see Blackburn secure the Premier League title at Anfield in May 1995. Very strange to be there when even the Liverpool fans weren't bothered if Blackburn won as long as Man Utd didn't win the title!

I went in 76,league game ,I think it was a draw,we went up in a transit van had an interesting time at the match and went to Blackpool for the last night of the lights then back to Bristol about 8 in the morning.
Went again in 78 on a Special train, won that game, (badbloodash you were there) we were escorted through the back streets to the ground and it was an eye opener,as someone already said Blackburns a dump but I have been to a few other places as bad Luton for one.

Last night of the lights at Blackpool, now that rings a bell.Just looked it up,sept 1976 0-0 draw~probably part of the reason my memories of that day are so poor.

I was there, quite some fun getting back to the coach after the game, we won 2-1 and then on to Blackpool were the coach broke down for the second time. Remember making a huge BRFC on the sand, then waiting ages for another coach to pick us up.

Just remembered that in one of these games when Blackburn scored Bob Dolan punched a steward and got kicked out. Bizarre incident all round, he seemed to be on his own with no mates around him. I didn't know him that well, was he prone to travelling to places like Blackburn on his own?

I don't remember Blackburn ever bringing any support to Eastville ? whereas Burnley only a few miles from Blackburn always brought travelling fans, I would have thought they would have been glad to have a day away from Blackburn.

Not impossible that Bob would have travelled there alone but probably more likely that anyone he had travelled with had already been ejected/arrested. I have few memories of going to Rovers away games with Bob,I also went to a Leeds game with him and his mate once and I think that Anarchy in the UK would have made a good soundtrack for that day.

Can't think of a game I went to with Bob when he didn't punch someone including me once for calling him Fred wedlock ( oldest swinger in town) I meant it one way he took it another as he was much older than us anyway it didn't have time to escalate as we were in Cheltenham on the way back from Lincoln circa 1983 and so we're about 200 rugby players on tour people didn't know what to how intelligent Bob was he could tell you every capital city in the world due to the fact when he was in jail the only book he had access to was an atlas he was atop man and a fearsome street fighter and I wish he was still with us utg

I stood next to Bobby Dolan as we left Filbert St at Leicester on 28th October 1978. It was my first away game and he had an orange jacket on and was obviously a steward or so I thought. Bobby kicked over the metal barrier and laid into Leicester fans. So that's what stewards do to escort young fans back to a railway station, keen to be protected by a bastion of law and order. An eye-opener certainly.
