This could be an interesting Channel 4 Dispatchs programme on Monday as it looks like it will imply the big supermarket chains are no longer interested in developing numerous sites for large supermarkets, let's hope those contracts are watertight! The Guardian

Only says there not interested in 25% which means they are doing 75%, so you can spin it however you want.
Also Higgs said it happening, so let's be positive.

The GuardianNice headline Topper - thank god it is not true. To be fair you put ??, but this is nothing new - the trend away from larger supermarket development has been long reported, but 3 out of 4 will still go ahead.

I think Higgs comment was that Sainsburys were contractually committed to buying the land & he didnt care what they did with it once the ground was built!

Sainsburys said they will only build big stores where it is multi use (houses as well). This is, even if the store isn't doing great, they will get money back from other things.

Given it a rest there has been enough scare mongering - just get on and support your team.

I wouldn't worry too much. There was a headline on a news site the other day about Tesco. They were going to build houses on land they had previously earmarked for stores.

hate to try pi55 on people,s chips, but Sainsbury,s still want out and are trying their damnest to wriggle The board categorically stated they had signed a contract to buy the Mem. All PP has been granted. Whether they still want to build a shop or not is not our problem. The BoD said if they wanted out our compo would be what they are paying for ot as we need it for stadium. So they are stuck with it and might as well use it for something As critical as i am of the board, they cannot screw that up surely. If anything with the sale falls through (regardless of any problems building UWE) then they are open to a barrel of abuse i would imagine

If anything with the sale falls through (regardless of any problems building UWE) then they are open to a barrel of abuse i would imagine When someone put the video up of Higgs talking about the Mem refurb, I felt some serious déjà vu. Sorry but experience had taught me that this lot are never fully open with us. Personally I will not believe it, nor the ongoing snippets of info and sound bites. Another is that this lot can screw up what seems watertight. Experience has made me cynical of this board and I do not trust them at all. I genuinely fear for our club existing in another 3 seasons, including this coming one. I would however be overjoyed to be proved wrong and apologise publicly if it does happen. UWE are now playing hardball and relegation had strengthened all the other parties involved. Last season was an unmitigated and unrivalled disaster that could prove to have been the death knell for BRFC 1883 If true that Sainsbury are stuck, it does not stop them continuing to delay payment. That could be a tactic they use to try to see us go under. Just saying like

The GuardianHow many more times is this topic to be raised for discussion, in one form or another? It's been done to death, so we'll all just have to wait and see now. Perhaps it's time to concentrate on the football now, eh?
