Agree. But the contempt the EFL show does matter and the draw is another example. Few businesses would survive if they showed such contempt for their paying customers as the EFL do. But let's not let the EFL spoil what is a great evening for Rovers. Well done the team and the management. Will look forward to the draw whenever and wherever it is. UTG! agree, but sadly paying customers mean little these days. In business terms sponsorship and TV rights totally outstrip 'paying customers'. I wouldn't be surprised if the day ever comes when having normal working class fans at matches is actually frowned upon, totally priced out or even discouraged. Playing in empty stadiums or at different stadiums could also be a way 'forward' in future.

It's not a leap it's a slippery slope - keep up I already said that! Yes it is different. It's deliberately trying to attract interest abroad. We already have friendlies being played abroad and it won't be long until first team games happen. Its about selling energy drinks to Thais. Surely it's about selling Thai energy drinks in the UK? had anyone heard of this brand before this year? had they noticed it in shops? Now I have...

I don't see this as some slippery slope towards the end times or particularly important. But it does highlight that the football league will throw its fans under the bus in an instant and in any way possible in order to chase a few extra £'s.
It was basically wrong when Trump did it (and hilarious now) and it seems wrong now. A generalised down with this sort of thing from me. It's not critical but it is indicative.

Agree Irish, you're correct in that it's not particularly important but it's another sign of a lack of respect for the fans and supporters who are there in good times and bad. Yes, not critical but indicative, about sums it up. Anyway who would you like? Rover to visit Man C or Man U would be good for you wouldn't it? UTG!

At some point it will burst and only the very, very rich clubs will be happy. There is no way that the spending of clubs in the Championship, League 1 and League 2 can rival that of the PL. you are so right about the PL though. Bournemouth with their gates can't be making more than £10-15m on gate income per year, yet their wage bill the season before last was £60m! And last season I think they got about 30-40m for finishing 9th. So you are right they could survive financially without the gates and income from fans. When you see clubs like Mansfield, Bury, Northampton and many other appearing to spend what they are I just wonder where this money comes from. At some point it will all go t*** up, pure economics says it has to. UTG!

I think the EFL are for once thinking of their antipodean fan base. 3:15pm seems a perfectly reasonable time to me. You deserve it Jeff and don't begrudge it for you!! 😀 But tbh I don't think they were thinking of you when they decided to do it! UTG!

You do realise it doesn't matter where a cup draw happens? It has no effect on anyone? In fact in 1991 that Donald Trump draw happened in New York. It's been going on for 26 years. I maintain you're both wrong. Whilst there is obviously minimal impact in the here and now and realistically no-one cares. It's a matter of time until games happen abroad and that's a terrible thought. If the draw was on at 5pm on BBC1 I still probably wouldn't watch it but I don't think this is in any way good. With the current situation within football in this country the USA lovable farce is completely different from the draw taking place in China!

Most importantly, is the live draw going to feature teams written in vertical columns of symbols with the home team on the right and the away team on the left?

I think Spurs away would be a rather sad occasion. Who wants to go to Wembley for a third round league cup match?

Yes, I can see why we'd want to draw Spurs and play at Wembley but I suspect you'd get about 15-20 thousand Spurs plus what we took. It could look bad in a 90,000 capacity stadium. It might not even be that seeing as Spurs are in the European Cup and those matches will be at a similar time. The Spurs fans will be saving their money for those matches. Lets save Wembley for the final! UTG!
