What on Earth does it matter? It's like Christmas Eve, we go to bed wondering who Fulham or we get in R3 and we find out when we wake up. Surely it matters as it's a slippery slope to round three games being played in Asia or America with fans being left out in the cold or paying £000's to travel. They're just having elaborate bingo there, calm down.

This is no different to doing the draw on Soccer AM, only earlier.

It's deliberately trying to attract interest abroad. We already have friendlies being played abroad and it won't be long until first team games happen.

You do realise it doesn't matter where a cup draw happens? It has no effect on anyone? In fact in 1991 that Donald Trump draw happened in New York. It's been going on for 26 years.

Whilst there is obviously minimal impact in the here and now and realistically no-one cares. It's a matter of time until games happen abroad and that's a terrible thought. If the draw was on at 5pm on BBC1 I still probably wouldn't watch it but I don't think this is in any way good.

Now if you are an EFL executive having already been to Thailand, China seems quite nice as a venue for a trip with all the other klingons including two retired footballers. Now where else is Carabao trying to spread its market, how about Australia, the US...? Having discredited the Checkatrade it's now time for the League Cup.

Never started a thread before but have just noticed on the BBC website that the draw for the third round of the League Cup will be at 04:15 on Thursday morning BST in China! To fit in with far eastern audiences I presume. What contempt the EFL must have for fans and supporters in this country. Just another chipping away of our football heritage. The EFL are getting like the PL in ignoring the fans in this country but pandering to overseas sponsors. I'm sure it will go largely unnoticed but it really annoys me. So set your alarm clocks......not. We probably won't be involved but I wonder what the draw will throw up, Fulham or Bristol Rovers v Shanghai United? Rant over! UTG! This a balmy, I could accept say a 9am in the UK draw but 04:15am draw means virtually nobody in the UK will watch the draw live, it seems they are 7 hours ahead of us so the draw will be at 11:15am in China, which can hardly be peak viewing time there anyway. ...true, but it's not being televised in China! ...or anywhere else - head to Twitter, (which is probably blocked in China.)

This is no different to doing the draw on Soccer AM, only earlier. Yes, it's very different. Using a media outlet in this country at a time some will be able to hear is very different from using one in China at 04:15 in the morning when few if any people in this country will listen is very different. It tells me that the PR involved in the Far East is more important to the EFL than the thousands of fans who will trek up and down the length of this country on an evening. I don't expect everything to stay the same as it used to be, Monday draws in the FA Cup, weekly draws in the FL Cup with all the accompanying razzamataz. It is the gradual wearing away of the consideration of fans in this country that will eventually lead to something far worse. I don't know what and it probably won't come in my lifetime but it will come. I just hope it's not like leebrownsrightboot has suggested. If you aren't worried that's fine and it's an opinion I respect, after all this is a forum. I hope you are right and were the EFL led by someone who I had respect for I probably wouldn't have posted, but as it's led by a PL wannabe, Shaun Harvey who is more about PR than about football I will remain concerned about the leadership of football. UTG!

You think its different, I don't. I'm no more concerned about this than I was in 1991 when Donald Trump did it and I was 8 years old and blissfully unaware.
What difference does it matter if the EFL Cup draw happens while you're awake or asleep?

I think it's sh*t because it reflects the contempt with which the EFL treats the fans.

Well done Rovers. Who do we want? I'd like Bournemouth here but obviously a big side would be great. UTG!

Is the draw on normal tv at an abnormal time?

Is it not possible that you are all right? 1. The time and location of the league cup draw does not matter. 2. The time and location of the league cup draw shows contempt for UK fans. C. The authorities hate us, but this example is not the best evidence of this.

Agree. But the contempt the EFL show does matter and the draw is another example. Few businesses would survive if they showed such contempt for their paying customers as the EFL do. But let's not let the EFL spoil what is a great evening for Rovers. Well done the team and the management. Will look forward to the draw whenever and wherever it is. UTG!

I think the EFL are for once thinking of their antipodean fan base.
3:15pm seems a perfectly reasonable time to me.

So the EFL travel over to Beijing, with the help of Carabao, to publicise a draw for a competition where managers often field their second XI; there will be disappointment and annoyance when the likes of Arsenal put out their U23s (at about 4am their time) - still they will be exposed to the great Bristol Rovers.
