You can say the same for Sikhs, Hindus, Pagans, Satanists and Scientologists. I'm not a fan of pigeon holing folk.. Bath City tried to bring in extra support by special offers to select groups, all very well but the regular crowd (can justifiably?) feel they are being discriminating by being loyal. We tried it last season with special offer to services personnel. I'm not sure how much extra was brought in? There are only two select group that deserve encouraging imo, kids and rovers fans. Loyalty should be rewarded, kids should be encouraged with special offers, whatever their faith.. I'm sorry 02 but that made I laugh as the tickets that were given out to services, many of them were sold on rather than used. I know that once you have a ticket, it's up to you what you do with it but I found it pretty wrong that they were sold on and especially when given for free just one more thing that shows we are no longer gasfamily but, as you said, more gas community. I cannot write this without admitting that I had been given ST's last season and because certain people wanted to show their kindness and generosity, due to my health crap. I just normally get the early bird tickets but I shall be looking at buying a flexi ticket, that way I can miss a couple of games but not miss out on the money paid. I have 2 friends that rarely go yet buy ST's just so they can say they truly support the club. Fair play to that Haha! Really? Sold them on? Thatcher's children, Kp.. Who can blame them, if they haven't had a pay rise in 10 years?! I'm rather fortunate. I can afford season ticket these past few years. Ashamed to say though, I've given mine away when can't attend! And a few times, I couldn't even do that in the past! Haha! Honestly! Because of the misery around the place, no sod was interested.. UptheGas!

With an average gate of less than 10,000 in a catchment area of what 1m you are right to say there is massive potential. You're wrong to bring race and religion in to the argument though to satisfy your latent PC racism. Please explain how it's latent in any way CGH ? I think it's something we could have and should have tried to address years ago. Like it or not, we still have a lot of racist fans. It really is untapped potential and my own opinion is that the OP is a raises a valid point Latent PC racism? The very concept of PCism is the existence of racism and religious discrimination they therefore have to fuel that racism and religious discrimination for their own existence. The vast majority of people who aren't PC just choose to see a person regardless of colour or religion but the PC brigade have to view everyone as black and white, Muslim and Christian hence reinforcing racial and religious discrimination. So sad isn't it? I always laugh at an interview I saw by a Muslim community leader, I think from Portsmouth, talking about Moeen Ali and lamenting why is wasn't always referred to as the Muslim cricketer Moeen Ali. So wrapped up in PC doctrine that he couldn't see thst the success was in Moeen just being viewed as an English cricket player. But people like that guy need racism to spout of their crap.

No one on the West Side stood up to the scumbag? Dissapointing. We had a meathead looking bloke show up right in front of us on the East Terrace last season, who no one had ever seen before. Within the first 10 mins of the game he was using the most obscene language possible directed at the referee, jeered on by his cronies. It wasn't racial, granted, but Still extremely unpleasant around women and kids.
Anyway a few of guys (maybe 5 or 6) closest to him who were right in front of me rounded on the fool & shut him down bigtime. Nothing physical, but let him know 100% he wasn't getting away with that behaviour here. He scarpered after 20 & I hope he'd either learned a lesson or didn't step foot in the ground ever again.
I Understand why a single person wouldn't speak up against these twats for fear of a beat down, it's just a shame it has to be a pack of supporters and not stewards sorting it out crap like this as it's occurring.

Difficult subject and not sure how to word the thread title but there is a huge untapped potential for increased and even a more diverse fan base. Trouble is people I work with don't seem comfortable with the idea of actually going to games although it must be said they follow arsenal and Chelsea with great interest on tv. Is it possible to change this for Bristol rovers and maybe football in general or am I being naïve? The problem is, that by encouraging one group of minorites, you may well discourage another. I`m sure that homosexuals would be less likely to come along to our games if they knew that they were going to be beheaded in the centre circle, as part of the half time entertainment. Understandably so, in my opinion.

It was a group of at least 10 and, sad to say, mostly older guys. I was the only one who stood to try and at least apologise to the guy with his kid. It was an horrible experience
