It's refreshing that our supporters, our coaching team, our players and our owner have interchangeable values and conduct upon how a football club should be run. Our motivations as a club is to build organically, have a shared value and attitude system amongst players and to remain supportive of all facets of the club if we hit a rocky patch and we have hit many a rocky patch. At present the club has a buzz and feeling of contentment, togetherness and sentiment and it was great to listen to Darryl in his interviews as being positive, joking and feeling good about himself and the club.
Lansdown for his many millions cannot buy what we have. Sure he can invoke a minimum fee release clause, chuck money at a player who started his career late, but he cannot buy what we have.
Rovers are in a good place now and are still looking up yet even after three seasons where all have shared a fantastic sporting journey to get to where we are as of now, appreciating the recent peaks with some low troughs. Perspective makes the peaks seem even higher.
The s*** on the other hand are a different breed. The inbreed if you like. If ever there was a club that is breaking apart with a negative attitude in all areas then it's the mutants down south. The negativity is so great that their focus in January was more about what inconvenience they can inflict on someone else rather than on their own (many) urgent problems. It's a sign of desperation that people focus on stuff outside their club, company or oneself in order to direct attention away from the fundamental issues - themselves. Signing Taylor was almost a form of self-harm - a sensual deflection to stop thinking about reality - terrible manager, hundreds of millions spent to achieve less than the start and a club where there is no whole only parts.
s***heads must envy our club. And I love that feeling as much as I am currently enjoying our successes, every season and within every season. The only place for city is not upwards, it's (Lans)Down!!!

In fairness there are quite a few of them on that thread who can see it for what it was and give credit to us for the turn around in fortunes over the past few years. The OP however sums up the worst of the s**thead mentality IMHO

While I am more than enjoying their current plight don't kid yourself that our support is any 'better' than theirs. There are still plenty of moans and groans when a game isn't going our way and Ellis seems to be the latest scapegoat.

Sadly this thread from the dark side struck me for being far more reasoned and mature when it came to most replies from gasheads posts.... Conversely the vitriolic written abuse any 82er gets on our forum is something to be highly embarrassed about.

While I am more than enjoying their current plight don't kid yourself that our support is any 'better' than theirs. There are still plenty of moans and groans when a game isn't going our way and Ellis seems to be the latest scapegoat. Certainly true. Where there used to be a huge gulf in the way our fans behaved and took defeat with grace and gallows humour, the Facebook generation are proving that it's a fag papers difference in between us now. I removed myself from all but one rovers related group as the venom, vitriol and bile are too much for me. When I go to games then it's always with the same bunch and we still keep that old rovers spirit alive. I know I must sound just like the old fart that I am but I find it very hard to read ANY fan wish injury upon our own players, that's how bad it's got. |

However, I think this guy posts regularly on the OTIB Basement Thread as Charlie Hicks Boots (or similar). He makes himself out to be some kind of high flying business mogul and constantly makes reference to the A-Q's "desperate search for investment" claiming that the financial elite are guffawing over their prawn sandwiches as we "patheticially beg for venture capital" in the Bristol area. The sheds lap it up if course. But my guess is that Kaiser / Charlie is a middle aged, low income loser who uses an Internet alter ego to make himself feel significant. |

I agree their forum seemed a more reasoned and level headed forum. A couple of things though:-
1. The Rovers posters were also reasonable. Not the condescending s**te kaiser posts to generate a reaction
2. It's easy to be magnanimous after being more successful than your rivals for 15 years, and used up a life time of piss taking after we dropped out the league (after which we would have been exactly the same)
I wouldn't expect the same tone should they come down, and or we are above them/off chance of promotion!

bluebeard. He has his setting set to show where he tweets from and he certainly gets around. I don't think he is close to the normal wage and I believe he has a high level job that pays well and sees him travel the globe or, at least Europe, much of the time but your guess is as good as mine fella. His photos also paint the picture of a high up player in whatever sphere he works in

for da yoof things are newer, brighter, crisper and more exciting. For the oldies, that can't be recaptured 100%
and when I read 'post-hardcore' I thought about cement around fencepoles, and then maybe its a new type of porn that has come out of the interweb, but from context I'm now guessing its probably a music thing
I would sincerely hope you wouldn't catch me using the term 'men's game' though
where I live there is a bloke in his mid-50's who walks round in 1977 punk clothes and haircut (for he still has plenty of it, and he wears it in a red Mohican) - a bit like one of our most noticeable fans, but much older. I must admit it lifts my heart when I see him
