Lots of talk recently about current goalkeepers, Rovers have had some really good ones over the years Dick Sheppard,Jim Eadie,Martin Thomas,Nigel Martyn etc etc no doubt we all had our favourites. I really rated Ron Green and Tom Mcallister, I think that Rovers need a steady goalkeeper now, someone who inspires confidence in the defenders, not necessarily a young bloke.

I think you're right. I would imagine at any other time we would already have brought in a keeper by now but with the change in the loan system it's not so easy. I would imagine we will see many examples like this in the years to come. I love what DC has done for us but he will need to sort this keeper problem out asap, in other words, January. We have had great keepers over the years but since 2007 we have struggled for a reliable keeper. Anderssen, Logan and Steve Mildenhall 2012-14 are the standout ones for me recently. Only SM was a permanent one and has been the best one since 2012. UTG!

What's the betting we will see Mildy play again this season and bail us out the dilemma 2seasons running?
Yes we need an established, experienced, reliable goalkeeper whom is familiar with league football. Not a loan. Our keeper.
Gonna be a challenge to find in January..

A keeper like Mildenhall when we signed Mildenhall would be ideal imo. An experienced keeper with plenty of games behind him and still a few years left in him

Think he might be busy with the Blues Band, The Manfreds and his Radio 2 Blues programme. But I sure he would do a good job nonetheless.

I think keepers need time and a good season or two under their belt.

I thought Martin Thomas was excellent.
What about the GK at Walsall, what's his name,he had a spall on loan with us before. He's apparently playing very well, although he might be a wee bit pricey now.£.

Some great gas goalkeepers mentioned here especially big Jim Eadie what a legend always remember when rovers back in the eastville days were sponsored by a pork pie company players were walking round the dog track chucking pork pies into the crowd apart from Jim Eadie who kept most of his great days.

Signing a non-league reserve team keeper in his 30th year on the basis that he only conceded two against us would be an interesting mistake.

How about the experienced Chris Kirkland aged 35 had a short term contract at Bury now a free agent. Over 440 league matches.
