The name thing is/was a suggesstion.
At times this forum has had a stigma (if that matters) about being anti board or whatever.
If people are happy.with what we have thats good. We can carry on as we are. It just come up under the talk of moving forward

I think of it being THE Rovers forum regardless of what it is called.

Change it, it's pretty obvious it's independent.

It looks like the majority are happy with the status quo.
I raised the question with the mods but I'm a great believer in democratic processes so I'm more than happy to keep things as they are.
Onwards and upwards with the Independent Fans' Forum!

I'll keep on fighting until I drop :-) There's no longer a club forum so there's nothing to be independent from. It looks daft.

I'll keep on fighting until I drop :-) There's no longer a club forum so there's nothing to be independent from. It looks daft. It is independent in the sense that it is not moderated by the club or any other(s). I'm sure people will remember those awful assemblies at school when the Deputy Head or whoever talked about a theme and the phrase "so I looked it up in the dictionary" came out, well this is what I did (hypocrite): when not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct...

Should have said amateurish, it's that old opinion thing again, nothing wrong with old stuff - getting that way myself. Maybe I was a touch harsh, as a mock up is not necessarily the final thing, any way back to the original point of leaving it alone which is getting lost. The good thing is that it (the name change) was a suggestion that we wanted to debate and now it has been done it can be put to bed. As for the mock up, yes it was done rather quickly just to give people an idea. Perhaps I am getting old as well, thought the old image being neutral would work. Fair dos.

My thoughts (for what they are worth).
I have used this forum since it was created (not as many posts as I would like, I must add). This is the only Bristol Rovers forum that I actively read and contribute to.
I love the fact that you have the domain name gasheads.org, that is perfect and I feel that should be promoted as much as possible, as it gives the forum identity which will become really important as the club grows.
This forum was created in the bad old days and grew in number and stature in the ashes of the official club forum. The fact that it became the voice of opposition was entirely the fault of the club, and I would like to think that this forum helped in the grand scheme of things. It certainly had a uniting effect on a group of gasheads, me included.
The overall feeling is that I am grateful that this forum existed and continues to exist.
It helped me through many a dark footballing day, and whilst things look to be really, really amazing right now, it is naive to assume that things will always remain positive. No matter how many good things the new board do and the things that the club may achieve, there will always be the need to hold the custodians of Bristol Rovers Football Club to account. So I hope this forum will always be the home of intelligent, knowledgeable and questioning gasheads.
I like the current title and subtitle, the word independent is still important to me going forward, but I would like to see gasheads.org included somehow.
I Like the style of the new header design, like all pieces of art they are open to personal preference and it is easy to criticise. The new pirate design is a lot clearer than the old one, I like that a lot.

I think it should be changed.
If you want to run the forum for the benefit of those of us that used the old forum then leave it as it is.
If we want this forum to grow, get new members and develop as the Club develops then you need to be clear to new members why they should join. In terms of marketing the forum to new members it's misleading.
To me it's a simple choice - If you are happy to live in the past leave it as it is. If you want to embrace the future, it needs to change.

Call it the Anti-board Forum. Or Fifty Internet Warriors. How about "Fifty Shades of Gas"?

Don't change it - the Bristol Post confuse easily and may not be able to find us again. How else are the people of the city to keep their fingers on the pulse without column inches cribbed straight from the forum and then 'repurposed' as investigative reporting?

Just to clarify I don't think anyone on the moderation team is particularly bothered about this - it just came up on another thread and we wanted to gage opinion (which is why we are doing it now). Now we have done this I think it seems pretty clear that the consensus is to stay as we are. I think the case for both sides has been effectively made in the discussion. Lots of good reasons for staying as the Independent forum (we do, after all, remain independent of the club) - Stig of the Gas effectively highlighted reasons why we might potentially want to change the name. I don't think it makes very much difference but some people appeared to have quite strong opinions so it seemed fair to ask what the general view was. There are no other plans to change anything - this was only about the name.

In my view the word independent is important because it reinforces the perception that fans can express individual opinions and offer criticism without without facing an immediate accusation of being anti-Rovers. Freedom of expression is a strength which benefits the club and I believe Wael Al-Qadi will encourage it.
