I didn't realise we had to come up with a solution to criticise the running of the club
Of course we were told for years that nobody wanted to buy us and were expected to believe it despite plenty of evidence of many other examples out there
Quelle surprise when we got someone in to help on that front (Sextoy) we miraculously found an investor
nobody had to come up with a solution but its a bit like english people moaning about the rain,it gets tedious and has no point so becomes boring,to me anyway I recall plenty of people suggesting how things could be done differently and better. If those ideas got no further than this forum, that is not the fault of any posters on here. Lord knows many tried to offer solutions. All were roundly rebuffed by those in power. Maybe you came up with a solution to that particular problem - if you did, I missed it.

I am sure you will agree that an alternative way of running the football club was being developed 10 years ago (actually it was probably being implemented and then one or two people got twitchy)....It's a great pity that didn't carry on because perhaps outside investment might have come earlier....

One thing's for sure, in fairness to all sides of the above debates, the forum has changed with the change in ownership, administration, and style of the football club.
While the disaster of the last regime continued, a great body of work was wtitten about it, and about it's overthrow, on here.
Now that things are so much more hopeful regarding ownership, promotion, football, and supporters' experience, the forum has been talking a whole lot more about aspiration, ambition, and football. For my part, I immediately stopped reading as a guest, registered, and have really enjoyed sharing (from afar) with both like- and differently minded gasheads, in the optimism and excitement about BRFC on here.
Gasheads.org - Brstol Rovers Independent Fans Forum
We complain when we're treated badly. We get daftly excited when BRFC give us hope. We're alright, us. Enjoy Saturday. We might win it. We might go up again. That's my contribution to this thread concluded.

I really like the double title and the emphasis on Gasheads.org but keeping the word "independent".

I recently picked up a gun for the first time since I left the Army and did some target practice, surprised myself 19 out of 25 Gun firing, gun firing, gun stops. Hock, cock, hook and look. On looking inside you have no rounds in the chamber and none in the magazine, carry on....... Open pouch, remove magazine from weapon, place empty magazine in pouch, take new magazine from pouch, inspect top round, insert magazine into weapon, check magazine seated, close pouch, release working parts, forward assist, carry on. Oh and I also like gasheads.org - Bristol Rovers Independent Fans' Forum. gasheads.org tells people where to find us. Tag-line describes what we are.

Probably the fact that a lot of posters on here were right, there was an alternative out there? I am sure you will agree that an alternative way of running the football club was being developed 10 years ago (actually it was probably being implemented and then one or two people got twitchy)....It's a great pity that didn't carry on because perhaps outside investment might have come earlier.... The one thing that really does still great is that we did have solid offers of investment. The last solid one, that I got to know of, was from the now chairman of Oxford, Darryl Eaves. This was made pretty much public knowledge and by the usual suspects. Going back to Geoff D, his line was that the club was always open to offers but the price he put on it was enough to repel anyone with an ounce of sense. We were told, in Nick Higgs last question and answer, there had been as many as 12 non disclosure agreements in place and so we can see that the club were not short of interest. I honestly never thought that Nick Higgs would relinquish his position and I believe that if he were not put into the position where he had no real choice, not without the club facing probable administration and him personally losing out, that he would still be telling us the same old line. I've never known two men who wanted to hold on so tightly and who also shared the same mindset, that it was ALWAYS someone else's fault. It was a mixture of the Sainsburys case and of GD pushing home the knife, when he had the opportunity, to move Nick. From the information I have gleaned, GD told Nick that he would not cede his shares unless ALL the old board stepped down. In this case all I can say is well played Geoff. To think he brought NH in as an ally, with the privelige of hindsight, is such irony lol. Anyway, call it luck and chemistry but we seem to have, at long last, been bought out and by a guy who really does have the clubs best interest at heart. It really was about time we did have the rub of the green though, it's long been overdue. I am pretty sure this forum didn't directly have any effect upon the outcome but it raised pertinent questions and the lack of interaction from the club was deafening. Having said all of that, the majority of fans don't even know of any forum and certainly wouldn't get involved if they did. It is interesting to know that there has been a big upsurge in people actually now joint up and posting, since the takeover. In the Al Qadi family and Steve Hamer, we have a very professional owner and chairman and you only have to look at the people they have employed, with the remit to deliver the new stadium, to see the huge difference in the approach. This is so different to the "lone wolf" way and it's great to see that we have people who know the art of delegation. It really was about time we had that. UTG

Also, I've never said 'sack the board'; I said they should do things better. edit to add: though I always hoped they'd shuffle off, having proved to be intransigently inept, and was glad to see the back of them.

I see this a lot on forums Seth, and wonder if this is meant literally or figuratively. It always seems a weird expression for the context
apart from, maybe, if people are banging on and on like 'broken records', which I think is definitely the case on here

Some boring technical points on the name: 1. You never see the full name in the tab on Firefox, and probably all other browsers when using tabs. You only see a truncated "Forum Name | Bristol R-" or something similar. A shorter name is much better in this regard 2. On most mobiles and tablets, you can always see the URL at the top which shows as gasheads.org (on Safari) and you only see the title if you're scrolled right to the top - which is probably why a lot of people don't even notice it, particuarly on mobiles. 3. If you add a page as a favourite it defaults to "Forum Name | Bristol Rovers Independent Fans Forum". This is way too long and it should at least include gasheads.org. I would personally use "Forum Name | gasheads.org", e.g. "Gas Guzzler | gasheads.org" I assume the forum name is configured in one place on the forums.net platform so changing "Bristol Rovers Independent Fans Forum" to "gasheads.org" makes sense IMHO Warned you it was a boring post! Nothing wrong with the forum name as it is. I see absolutely no need to change it.
