I thought that the second goal, the set-piece from Liam Lawrence was really top notch. Mind you Taylor's brace weren't too dusty neither.

I wanted to see the crazy worm again. Maybe we can have an end of season highlights video of the ballboy at the Blackthorn end wasting time when we are winning. He was on top form today

Matty scoring two with his head?
What the hell did we sign Gaffers for!?!
Sublime from Lawrence......happy to give credit where it's due as I've been critical of him in past.
Best free kick of the season for me.

Best free kick of the season for me. Superb free kick but can we really afford to have him in the side over Montano ? We were so slow and ponderous in our build up, it was crying out for some pace and as soon as Montano came on our game quickened up no end.

Very unfair to criticise Lawrence as his ball retention throughout was superb and his clever flicks and passes kept possession when others around him were wasting the ball and hitting it too long. Lee Brown was far more guilty of holding on to the ball too long instead of bringing Lawrence in early. I do agree that Montano should be in the side as for me he is the most exciting player I have seen for a long time. It is unfortunate that the creative players are not always the fittest and the best defensively. seeing that exceptional free kick from Lawrence - I was crying out for him to take it rather than Brown and wonder why he didn't take the one in the last few minutes at Carlisle. His corners are also far superior to Lines.

Monty has been very god attacking and defending, also his first touch was a very good shot on target. But I cannot determine who is better for the team . For me Monty is the better choice but I know nowt.

And we scored direct from two corners today, is that the first this season, although not sure what the goalie was doing with the first one, he seemed to help it in ?

Personally I would like to see both Monty and Lawro in the team. To do that it would be important that both Leadbitter and Brown stick to their defensive duties to enable us to have the more attacking midfield along the lines of
Mildenhall
Leadbitter Lockyer McCrystal Brown
Bodin Lines Lawrence Montano
Gaffney Taylor
I'm just not convinced by Ollie Clarke in midfield as IMO he just does not want the ball but this team would very much rely on ALL our defenders defending.

Nothing wrong with O.Clarke in any of our team selections IMO.

Ollie Clarke may not be the, on-the-ball, beat-the-man, Brian Robson finished article midfielder, but his tenacity shows all. What brilliant support, tracking back and marking of Crawley mid. A few times he lined himself up for 25yard strikes only to be blocked. He's just subtle. May not get it right all the time. I wonder if he was coached o go forward more, whether we would see more? I think it speaks volumes he wasn't subbed (like he was early on Monday v Carlisle) early, so instinctively I think he goes looking for the ball. Many wrote O.Clarke and Taylor off at the start of the season, I think both have surpassed expectations..

The video has disappeared for me. Strange... but this has more highlights and is a better quality. Looks like the weather even came out to play, cracking day all round in BS7.

Thanks both for posting; much more to see on the second one. The Memorial Ground crowd enjoying themselves. It wasn't like that in my day!

One occasion competed with Macca for the worst, with a ball down the line, passed from half-way, was meant for Browner overlapping but went out for a goal-kick. Not having a go at him though as no one was particularly brilliant first half. There were also times when it was down to a misreading between players, when the recipient wasn't expecting the pass, or didn't anticipate it, or changed direction having made a run that the passer tried to pick out. With all the over-hit passes, and players slipping over, in the first half, the talk around me was whether we'd watered the pitch too much!

Goal Cam. A couple of things I've noticed: - First goal, at the time, I was wondering what the goalie was doing as he appeared to not be able to stop it crossing the line, and end up helping it in. On seeing the videos it's actually his left hand that gets to the ball. I've really no idea what he was trying to do, perhaps had gone too far to his right and tried shovel it round the post. - The third goal, check how clever Matty Taylor was creating space for himself. Checks his run to fox the marker, then runs forward again to meet the cross.

Very odd goalkeeping on the first one, its like he's met it side on and clawed it in, rather than out. Never mind

I assume the goalie's balance was wrong on the first one and so couldn't push the ball out but we are talking split seconds here so he had insufficient time to adjust his position. The second corner again was a great delivery and a brilliant move by Matty to create the space for himself. The goal from the free kick was sheer class

Oh, something I've been meaning to say about some of the questioning, by some, of Liam Lawrence's early performances ...
Yes, he is an experienced player, and yes he has played as a wide midfielder, as well as central. But until he came to Rovers he had never played wide left before. So not only did he have to get up to speed with his fitness, and new team-mates, he also had to get used to a new position.
Even for someone with his experience the new perspective must take time to master.
The wrong foot wide player is something DC likes, with the left-footed Billy Bodin operating on the right. It means them cutting back inside quite a bit, They did swap for a while, after a corner, in the first half.
Then when Monty comes on he usually plays down the left.
Gives the opposition lots to think about, I suppose.
