Quite a footballing CV there from our chairman. Good to hear. Any breaking news? Not really. It is 'possible' stadium build could start if car park agreement is reached, He is in London next week regarding funding then off to Jordan the week after. Regarding team funds: they realise DC knows what he wants and they will support him. Came across very knowledgeable and refreshingly a real experienced football man.

He hoped the UWE car park starts this summer and praised UWE for their patience. Said DC will be backed with funds to improve team as ambition was to make rapid progress and Mem has to be sold to help finance the new stadium build.
Very knowledgeable and clever guy. Pro footballer in South Africa then player manager of Corinthian Casuals who's keeper was England cricketer Bob Willis and the two of them bought the England Sporting Club and ran it for 20 years before selling it. He also worked on the ITV Big match tv programme for a decade with Brian Moore. Worked as a consultant advising potential buyers about investing in FL clubs. Chairman of Swansea City during their difficult time when no money.
Met our new owners last March and they tried to buy Gillingham but they did not want to sale. Advised had Rovers not won at Wembley would not have bought Rovers. Started move to purchase Rovers in September and said NH was a tough negotiator.
Came over as a positive and upbeat guy...highly encouraged

Sounds like new stadium is dependent on the sale of the mem unless I have misinterpreted that statement.
As interviews go, I don't think it was the most positive in some regards with things said.

I'm still trying to get over Bob Willis being a pro keeper I thought he said Bob Willis was a team mate at Corinthian Casuals and aren't they an amateur club?

I was hoping our owners would be the funders. I.dont think anything was coming out of personal wealth.regarding the stadium. The Al Qadis are bankers. It will be financed and a lot will depend on income streams and what else they can get built out there

Sounds like new stadium is dependent on the sale of the mem unless I have misinterpreted that statement. As interviews go, I don't think it was the most positive in some regards with things said. I don't think it is dependent, it just makes sense to have an extra £15 million to put towards the new stadium. Some supporters would like to see the Mem, an out dated rugby ground as our future training ground, which is £15m sat doing nothing with much more required to bring the ground to a standard to match the new stadium, I don't think any savvy businessman would give this more than a few seconds thought, makes no financial sense, what does make sense is the ongoing negotiation with UWE to purchase further land and have everything in one place, and the Mem sold bringing in circa £15m. I prefer the understated comms that has been consistent from day one, temporary ground improvements have taken place, a decent new loan signing on board, ongoing negotiating with the UWE and backing Darrel with funds, no singing from the rooftops, no announcements, just getting things done. The old cliche 'actions speak louder than words' applies and so far we seem to be witnessing more actions than words and I'ts been a very long wait for that after the front page evening post promises of a new stadium here there and everywhere around Bristol from the previous incumbents. It is going to take time to get used to an understated approach which is Wael's style, in three weeks he has delivered a redecoration of the centenary bar, an additional score board and a decent looking loan signing from a premier league club, three things that the old guard had no money and/ or no desire to deliver.

On the same programme, Darrell was interviewed, he joked about being a TINKERMAN an obvious reference to what some people on the FORUMS have called him regards his constant team changes. So does he read um?
