09:37 - "we aren't here to languish"!!!
Great interview - seems level-headed, quietly confident and determined! Backs the manager with a wry smile as well (as if to say that Darrell has told them to leave the playing side to him!?). Neither the Chairman or President have come in and given it the big 'un and I'm happy with that!
If this lot are Fake Sheiks, then I'll eat my hat!!! We might just see BRFC rise up through the leagues!

what did he mean when he said that Darryl is 'old school'? Funny listening to Darryl's interview I got the impression that the new young guy brought in maybe is not to his liking. I might be 100 miles offside, but get the feeling that Darrl wants to do things his way. Well he got last season right so he might be right, this tactician thing in the bottom professional league? I am not knocking it but maybe he has got to get used to change.

Refreshing to have a chairman whose job it is to promote the interests of BRFC, and is also accountable.

what I think I heard was:
he met the Al Qadi's quite a while ago, while he was a broker/consultant regarding Gillingham (and possibly others) they looked at making an investment in Rovers in September. My thought was that Steve Hamer was the broker, not principal at this time, though probably the Al Qadi's broker, though it seems likely that Rovers were talking to a bunch of people it was 'securitised against the stadium'. That's not a banker's wording - it would be secured against the stadium, or else securitised against an income stream generated through the stadium (ie the Mem or UWE), which suggests to me that the proposal was for an investment (ie not takeover) which was securitised against the income streams generated by UWE - ie the old board were looking to fill the 'funding gap' between the Sainsburys value of the Mem and the current value of the Mem by an investment secured against future income streams. Not a bad idea - after the first look, they were prodded to start thinking about more than an investment
- it took til recently to crystallise the takeover. Higgs was playing hardball, including by insisting on pursuing the appeal

but, even at the beginning, the Al Qadis didn't want a business that they couldn't buy and run (as the owner of Gillingham wanted, and maybe NH too). They wanted something that they could 'build in their own image', which will never be possible via a simple investment
Steve's friend sniffed things out, after which Steve took over the negotiation on behalf of the Al Qadis
the fact that the existing board had already put £1m into the new stadium put them £1m, plus a bunch of time, ahead of the game = distressed purchase opportunity IMO

I got the impression, though, that Steve is very much a hired hand. There to give an opinion and to be a presence on and at the ground, but willing to fulfil a brief designed elsewhere

He may well have a role with our youth system, but leave the pro's to a bloke that had a decent career at this level & clearly has an understanding of what makes players tick!

Maybe but i thought the new blokr was heading up scouting.more than anything. I guess he will go.watch players, video crunch numbers and DC/next manager will decide who he wants ultimatley

DC: "We've got to work out what he will and what he won't be doing" was the telling phrase for me.
Let's hope there's not some tension there already!

Think the old school reference was when asked about funds for summer buying. My take is Darryl is old school in that he wants to build a squad and the character of the players is paramount. Maybe he feels he cannot bring in large scale squad changes and be confident they will GEL.

He comes across very well and was pretty candid about the whole thing. I'm sure there are many things he can't reveal publicly but I haven't heard any mention of confidentiality agreements yet.

Obviously we won't know unless told but he was in box one several times and it stacks up with the timing of what Hamer says too
